Gameplay against a KazaRaza Priest: https://hsreplay.net/replay/59BJ6XmocB5jdo8QDEiYpV
It shows, that the deck is strong enough to win against a control deck in the late game! Still if you have a bad opening hand, as I had in the replay.
Mulligan Guide:
Mana Wyrm is a really strong 1 Mana card. Try to get it with Arcanologist or a 2 Mana spell like Primordial Glyph for a brilliant start. You can also keep Arcane Intellect and Mana Wyrm, if you have The Coin.
Other options? Kabal Lackey is a great choice in combination with a secret. My favourite combo for turn 1 is Kabal Lackey with Frozen Clone. Early board presence and two minions draw for 0 Mana...that's insane!
You can also keep two 2 Mana cards, if you have The Coin on your hand. Arcanologist and Medivh's Valet or Primordial Glyph for example. That is much better than the risk to draw some secrets or 4+ Mana cards.
NEVER keep secrets on your hand, if you don't already have Kabal Lackey. Also don't keep cards with 4+ Mana.
Play The Coin if you need it for the early game. Otherwise, keep it for Archmage Antonidas. You get also a free spell from Mana Bind, Burgly Bully and a cheap spell from Primordial Glyph for Archmage Antonidas.
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is a crazy card. I love it, because it saved me so many games which were already lost! Don't play it, if you control the match. Play it if your opponent controls the game and you think, that you will loose without him. He will change everything with some luck!
The idea behind the deck:
Secret Mages had often the problem to running out of cards. I tried to create a Secret Mage with enough card draw! You have Arcane Intellect, Arcanologist, Frozen Clone, Primordial Glyph, Mana Bind, The Lich King and sometimes also Yogg-Saron, Hope's End to get enough cards.
Thanks for your support and I'm glad to hear your feedback!
This is a nice deck but it desperately needs a flamestrike or volcanic potion, at least until you reach level 10. Even after that it's safe to have one of those.
Thanks! Yes, you can put a Flamestrike or Volcanic Potion into the deck, if you play against many Aggro Druids atm.
You can play with Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Thanks! Good to know, that it works also for you at rank 3 and 4 :)
It's fucking good plus fun.
I'm glad to hear that. Have fun!
Hey, is there any place for Medivh, the Guardian ?
Hi, I don't think so, because the most of your spells have only 2-3 Mana. Not really a synergy with a Secret Mage.
Hi, sorry but I don't think that you could replace Archmage Antonidas, because there is no card with a similar effect :) he is a key card in the deck and will give you 2-4 Fireballs normally. He is really important!
Yes, you can play without Yogg. Yogg is great and there is no equivalent replacement imo, but he will turn out of standard mode after the next two expansions. Archmage Antonidas is more important for the deck and a better investment for you, because he is a classic card, which will be always in standard mode. Furthermore, there was in every expansion a deck, where you could use him. Secret Mage and Exodia Mage atm. :)
elporsche1990 meant, that he plays with Flamestrike instead of Yogg-Saron, Hope's End. You could try this :)
Yes, I never keep secrets without Kabal Lackey. You need cards for turn 1 and 2 and if you play a secret in the early game, you don't want to do that for 3 Mana. That is really too slow. You always want to play a secret with Kabal Lackey or Kirin Tor Mage. Furthermore, good Jade Druid players know to play around Counterspell. They play The Coin, Innervate, Wrath or Wild Growth, before they play Nourish or Ultimate Infestation. I wouldn't say, only a Counterspell for 3 Mana helps against them. Try to build big minions on the early board, because Jade Druid has not really a board clear card. Only Spreading Plague helps them, so don't play too many minions.
Hi, I wouldn't do that, because Sindragosa is too slow for that deck. Sure, you have also a chance in the mid or late game (except Jade Druid), but you want to win as fast as possible against control decks. Furthermore, I don't think that Sindragosa is a really good card, it fits only in really slow Mage decks in combination with Frost Lich Jaina. But even of that I am not really convinced atm. Pyros fits much better, because you can play him already in the early game and you know which cards you will get from him.
Replacements could be: Second Frostbolt or Firelands Portal. Maybe also the Arcane Giant
You really need a good start against aggro decks. One option is Mana Wyrm and a spell or Kabal Lackey and a secret. The second option is Primordial Glyph and discovering board clear. Pirate Warrior is a 50/50 chance to win. The only real problem is Murlocadin, but Murlocadin is just OP imo, because every class has a problem against it. You often play against a lot of aggro decks between rank 15 and 10. Maybe try this deck with 1 or 2 Volcanic Potion instead of Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and/or Pyroblast, until you reached rank 10 :)
DK decks are mostly control decks. That actually shouldn´t be a big problem, because control decks are great matchups for us.
Hm, I don´t know if you play the deck correctly against control decks or if you have no luck with card draw. I often beat them before they play the DK hero or they already have less than 10 life. Yogg, Lich King, Antonidas or Pyroblast are strong cards to beat them also in mid or late games.
Dude thanks for the deck, it rocks! Since I'm poor, I had to take out Yogg Saron and instead I'm using a Flamestrike, as board clear has been discussed in this thread. So far I have only lost to a Control Warlock (and I faced an auto concede so that doesn't count). Thanks again!
Thanks for your feedback! Appreciated :)
You mostly use Yogg-Saron, Hope's End if you loose the board and you also use Flamestrike if you loose the board. Seems a good replacement, if you don't have dust for Yogg-Saron, Hope's End.
Overall pretty nice deck, although it lack some board clear. got around 50% win rate, 1 lose against fatigue warrior and the others against aggro decks.
funny turn 2 lich king with that deck: https://hsreplay.net/replay/PadCFXqQD9sSPEnqDusTnH
Thanks! You´re right, there is not a direct board clear card. But you have Primordial Glyph to discover one, The Lich King and also Yogg-Saron, Hope's End. I see 80% control decks atm and there is a board clear card only a waste. But if you think, that you play against an aggro deck, try to get Primordial Glyph or a great start with Mana Wyrm and The Coin or with Kabal Lackey and a secret. Aggro decks mostly also don´t have a board clear, try to control the early board or discover a board clear card :)
