Have you ever looked at a card and thought "I don't know why but that card looks cool and I really want to try it? Well that was me the first time I saw Malygos.... I was like "Oh spells with this on the board must be insane!" so I got myself "The essence of magic" and for a while I played it in Freeze Mage with decent results but then I started playing other Decks and Maly sat in my collection for a while... It sat there till I started playing Miracle Rogue and found out there was a variant of the Deck running him as win condition... At first I was terrible with the Deck and found the Leeroy version to be working better but I loved Malygos so much that I kept trying and now this one is Top 3 of my favourite Decks ever....

If you hate losing to Priests as much as I do or if you hate Handlock (But who does?) or Paladin this is the Deck for you, it will utterly destroy them 80% of the times but it will also get stomped by Pirates,so if you're looking for a way to fight Aggro this isn't a good place to start....

Now if you haven't stopped reading already cause of my most likely pointless introduction we can start with the actual guide...

MATCHUPS:

Token

  • Unfavored 30/70...
  • Mulligan for Backstab/Razorpetal Lasher/Jade Shuriken/Eviscerate/Preparation and if you have a good hand you can also keep Edwin VanCleef...
  • Your goal here is just to keep the board as clean as possible... The moment you manage to stabilize unless you're really low on health you won... The problem is that their board is awfully sticky and your AOE sucks so you better cross your fingers and hope to meet Jade Druids...
  • Jeeves and Vicious Fledgling are prime target for removal, get rid of them ASAP...

Jade

  • Even 50/50...
  • Mulligan for Tomb Pillager/Azure Drake/Razorpetal Lasher... If you have 2 or more of the aforementioned cards you can also consider keeping Gadgetzan Auctioneer.... I also wouldn't mind having a Sap handy in case of Innervate shenanigans but minions are way more important here...
  • First and foremost remember that Druid's AOE sucks, so the one thing you should be aiming to do before anything else is get minions to stick... Even a board consisting of just 2x Tomb Pillagers is a huge problem for Druid so try to prioritize minions over spells...
  • Edwin VanCleef is a key card here... No one runs Mulch and Raven Idol isn't that played either so if you manage to get out a big Edwin (From 10/10 onwards) he might even concede on spot.... Don't be afraid to pump him even if it means depleting your hand as 90% of the times he will stick and hit him hard....
  • Don't be afraid to use Fan of Knives just for cycle as it wouldn't ever be of any use to clear the board....
  • Unless it might lead to favourable trades for him just ignore the smaller golems and push face damage cause he has a lot of armor generation...
  • Needless to say Gadgetzan Auctioneer needs to die as soon as he hits the board....
  • Now thanks to the gorgeous cards they got in KTF they might not even run Gadgtezan Auctioneer but instead just ramp like crazy and then play Ultimate Infestation... If they really get the perfect hand and drop this card when they have like 8 mana and you have 4 there's not much you can do,it's not your fault and the Deck is most likely gonna get nerfed soon....
  • Try not to play more than 2 minions at a time or you'll get stalled for ages by Spreading Plague....
  • Try holding onto Sap to get rid of Primordial Drake...
  • As he doesn't have hard removal you could also consider dropping Malygos without going for the kill, but I'd see that as a panic button and you usually don't need to do that....

Midrange

Reno

  • Unfavoured 20/80...
  • Mulligan for Tomb Pillager/Azure Drake/Razorpetal Lasher... If you have a hand full of spells and Preparation you can keep Edwin VanCleef....
  • You would usually feast on a Deck as slow as this one but Ice Block exists so most of the times you're screwed just cause of that one card...
  • Pray... Just pray they don't draw either Reno Jackson or Ice Block cause if they have both there's not much you can do....
  • Since you're most likely screwed no matter what you do you might as well try to go all in with Edwin VanCleef and hope they don't have removal...

Freeze

  • Unfavoured 30/70...
  • Mulligan is the same as Reno Mage...
  • Once again Ice Block is the culprit for the crappy number above so you could try teching in Eater of Secrets or Kezan Mystic but both cards suck in all other matchups so I'm not a fan of them, especially in a Deck like this one that I find to have very few flex spots....
  • You can once again try to steal a win by making a huge Edwin VanCleef that goes unanswered...
  • Once again pray they brick or if Mages are all you're facing switch to Jade Druid and destroy them....

Midrange

Control

  • Favoured 70/30...
  • Mulligan is the same as Midrange...
  • Midrange and Control differ just from a few cards,so your gameplan is mostly the same as above.... Just keep in mind that they have a lot more healing so you can't expect your chip damage to be useful....

Dragon

  • Favoured 60/40...
  • Mulligan for Backstab/Tomb Pillager/Azure Drake/Razorpetal Lasher...
  • This is probably the trickiest of all Priest Decks to play against as they can overwhelm you if they get a dream curve...
  • Azure Drake is your best friend here... He has 4 attack and he's a Dragon making both their AOE and single target removal useless so try to protect him the best way you can...
  • Gadgetzan Auctioneer is also a key here more than ever.... If you manage to drop it with an even board state they'll most likely have to waste a Dragonfire Potion just to remove him and you'll probably be able to take the initiative again next turn....
  • They don't have Lightbomb so Edwin VanCleef is safer here then against other archetypes but having him removed for 3 mana would still be horrible so don't go all in on him.... More than once I just dropped him as a 4/4 in the early game and it traded 2 or even 3 for one so take that into consideration....
  • Be careful with Razorpetal Lasher cause it's a target for Potion of Madness and it can lead to some devastating tempo swings....
  • I wouldn't do it unless in a desperate situation (Cause I'm paranoid about them runnnig Entomb/Mind Control for some unknown reason) but realistically chances they can remove Malygos are ground low  so you can also consider dropping him without finishing them off...

 Control (Non-Quest)

  • Favoured 70/30
  • Mulligan is the same as Dragon Priest but they're so slow that you can afford to keep Gadgetzan Auctioneer...
  • Be careful when killing Deathlords as they can pull your Emperor Thaurissan or Malygos at the wrong time and destroy your entire game plan...
  • They don't have burst of any kind so you can be greedy with removal and keep it for a potential OTK cause they have Justicar Trueheart and 4 HP each turn can be annoying...
  • Again dropping Edwin VanCleef as 4/4 early is incredibly difficult for them to deal with...
  • Priest of the Feast needs to die! Get rid of that fat (insert whatever race that minion is here) as soon as he hits the board....

Quest/Reno

  • Favoured 60/40 (If the Priest knows what he's doing)-70/30 (most of the times)
  • Mulligan is always the same...
  • Here you have to go for OTK... If they're not stupid once they see Emperor Thaurissan they'll play Amara so you can't afford to waste even a single point of damage... You need to be super greedy and try to thick Malygos+2xRazorpetal+Eviscerate or Jade Shuriken+Sinister Strike or make sure you have Preparation or Counterfeit Coin.... The aforementioned combos deal up to 46 damage but they're difficult to pull off.... Luckily 80% of players seem to think they're safe at 30 so most of the times you won't need to do that....
  • Again play around Potion of Madness....

Miracle/Silence

  • Favoured 70/30 Miracle-60/40 Silence
  • Mulligan is always the same... If for some reason you suspect they might be playing this Deck you can keep Sap...
  • Miracle is pretty easy... All they do is keep vomiting their hand to buff a single a minion so all you need to do is make sure said minion can't kill you and then use Sap and enjoy seeing them concede...
  • Silence is kinda annoying cause they can deal with your threats better than other Decks and tend to spam "Wow" that 1 in 10 time they draw perfectly and steamroll you but the Deck is pretty inconsistent and can brick really hard...
  • Both Decks run less removal and AOE than others so you can overextend without worrying to much about being wiped...
  • Lyra the Sunshard needs to die! Annihilate her as soon as she hits the board....

Miracle (Conceal)

  • Unfavoured 30/70...
  • Mulligan for Razorpetal Lasher/Tomb Pillager/Azure Drake...
  • Their win condition is faster than ours and Conceal is the one card that makes this matchup a pain...
  • You could try teching in Loatheb (even though that's the card you hate the most) if you're seeing a lot of Mages/Rogues...
  • I find Preparation to be a key card here.... Most of the times something like Tomb Pillager+Preparation+Sap on their Tomb Pillager is a brutal tempo swing that can be answered just with few card combinations and that will most likely mess up the opponent's next turn...
  • Don't go all in with Edwin VanCleef, just make sure he needs to use at least two cards or hard removal to get rid of him...

Miracle (Malygos)

  • Even 50/50
  • Mulligan is the same as above...
  • I don't think there's much to be said about this matchup.... Unfortunately I find it to be very draw dependent... The one that manages to make Emperor Thaurissan go off first has the upper hand....
  • Once again don't go all in with Edwin VanCleef and keep in mind the huge tempo swings Preparation can lead to....

Murloc

  • Unfavored 40/60...
  • Mulligan for Bakcstab/Razorpetal Lasher/Preparation/Eviscerate/Bloodmage Thalnos/Tomb Pillager if the rest of your hand is good....
  • What you need to do here is just survive till you can make some minions stick.... Don't be afraid to waste cards like Eviscerate to keep the board clean... Same goes for Sap since they don't have any big minions....
  • If you care about your life total destroy Murloc Tidehunter and Murloc Warleader as soon as they hit the board even if it means wasting Preparation and another spell (The one time I didn't get Backstab that damn 1 drop snowballed so much that it had like 7 attack on turn 4).... Also Finja, the Flying Star can be incredibly swingy (If it pulls something while they have any kind of board presence it's game over especially if they have Everyfin is Awesome) so make sure he can't kill your minions and survive....
  • They don't have Hex but they run Devolve so don't go all in with Edwin VanCleef unless you're desperate....
  • Luckily Devolve seems to be the only "removal" they have so your minions should be safe from other spells....

Reno

DK Handlock

  • Favoured 60/40...
  • Mulligan is the same as Reno but you really want Sap cause chances they don't have a huge turn 4 are pretty low....
  • Beside Antique Healbot they don't have that much healing so that's positive but they way more threats than Renolock does so you have to try to finish it as soon as possible or you'll find yourself overwhelmed by huge minions you can't remove....
  • Once again Sap is fundamental.... It's the one card that can make you take control of the board early and once you're ahead on board,as long as you don't play into their AOEs,80% of your work is done....
  • Try not to drag the match for too long cause if they play Bloodreaver Gul'dan (assuming you can clear that huge board) the hero power is gonna destroy you....

 Pirate

  • Unfavoured 20/80...
  • Mulligan for Preparation/Counterfeit Coin/Edwin VanCleef/Backstab
  • As I already stated above if Pirates are all you're facing you're better off playing something else... The MU is abysmal... Your only chance of winning is pumping an Edwin VanCleef that goes unanswered on turn 2/3..... In any other case, unless they brick really really hard, this Deck is just too slow to keep up with Pirates....

 Control/Quest

Card Replacements

  • Malygos:Obviously you can't replace him... He's the centerpiece of the Deck if you don't have him play Classic Miracle...
  • Bloodmage Thalnos:Many people suggest to replace him with either Loot Hoarder or Kobold Geomancer but I can't get myself to agree with them.... Bloodmage Thalnos is so good cause it provides both card draw and spelldamage (and even saves you face damage as most people see it as a threat and waste damage to remove it) so none of the aforementioned cards can really fill its role.... I'd suggest crafting it as it is a really good and flexible card that fits into many Decks but if you're short on dust I'd rather play something like Shadow Strike/Deadly Poison/Counterfeit Coin/Hallucination/Conceal/Vilespine Slayer....
  • Edwin VanCleef:I don't find him to be as important as in he is in Classic Miracle (The one with Conceal)... He's a powerhouse in some MUs (like Druid) can win games on his own if unanswered but I'd craft Bloodmage Thalnos before him... Replacements would be the same as above....
  • Barnes: Having a 3rd Tomb Pillager,a chibi Gadgetzan Auctioneer a 2nd Bloodmage Thalnos/Emperor Thaurissan or even the dream 4 mana Malygos is nice but this card is by no means essential for the Deck.... Again no other card has a similar enough effect so you'd just replace him the same way you would do with the other Legendaries....
  • Preparation:I'm sorry but I am unable to conceive any Rogue Deck without 2x of this card.... If you want to play Rogue a playset of this is your crafting priority....
  • Azure Drake:Replace with 2x golden Azure Drakes for additional swag.... He's gorgeous and he's my favourite card....
  • Gadgetzan Auctioneer:Replace once again with 2x golden Gadgetzan Auctioneers so you can get your dust back when he gets rotated to the Hall Of Fame and in the meantime enjoy the best deals everywhere....
