This is the deck ran by Realz in the VGVN Day Two Tournament. I'm just posting it here for viewing people's viewing pleasure.
Holding big Demons in your hand and having Voidcaller's bring them out are nice. Eating fatties with the Void Terrors are amazing. There are a lot more tricks to this deck than it seems! There is a lot of control here, and a lot of incredibly thoughtful plays to think about. Going whole hog off the bat is risky, but can payoff, and you can also play it safe as well. People don't really see this deck coming. This is a new Meta: Big Demon Jaraxxus Combo. Free demons are the best demons.
1) It is not Hand Lock. 2) It is not Zoo Lock.
Realz played this deck all the way to the VGVN FINALS and it won 3 straight. Sadly, he lost the final match (game 7 of 7) b/c of no taunter. It seemed like a chance thing really.
Full credit to Realz for playing this deck with superb clarity and power. Jaraxxus won him a fair share of times with this deck.
I feel that Lock's heropower really works against you when you play midrangy type of decks. Especially against Face Hunter you're just helping him nibble away your health.
God, this deck is fun to play and bewilders the hell out of the opponent because it's kinda new enough that a lot of people on parts of the ladder will always expect Zoo or Handlock (and mulligan appropriately) and this deck just catches them completely off-pace.
One thing I like a lot is Hellfire, sort of working as an extra Shadowflame - I almost want 2x of them in the deck but 3 board-clearing spells is really probably enough. Shaman is a potentially tough matchup, and Hellfire is amazing against them in the early-mid game. Was playing against a Shaman who built up his board really rapidly capping it off with a Feral Spirit on turn 4, and I followed with a Hellfire, clearing the board completely and leaving me with a 4/4. He was overloaded next turn and couldn't do much (and clearly didn't have Hex in hand) so I went to town with Power Overwhelming and Void Terror shenanigans and it got silly. But Hellfire was the key card. It's probably better to leave it at 2x Shadowflame and 1x Hellfire, but still.
Problem with me is that I've never played any Handlock, really. At all. I've only been at the game for 2 months and while I'm utterly engrossed and fascinated there is a great deal to master, and Handlock is just not one of the decks I was able to properly build early on. So I'm interestingly sort of learning some Handlock techniques with this deck, and reading guides on Handlock to figure out how to properly play the deck - just because the synergistic core of Defender of Argus/Sunfury Protector/Defender of Argus/Shadowflame is the same, plus the Molten Giants.
Any adequate replacements for Jaraxxus?
He's kind of hard to replace because he's a reset of your life bar; and even a taunter if the Voidcaller pulls him out of your hand and you drop a taunt-maker on him. I'd say Alexstrasza would be your only bet, or something annoyingly sticky.
Out of curiosity, what are you running in lieu of the 2x Molten Giant? Maybe another Soulfire, or another Faceless, or some more Demons of some sort?
Hehe been testing a deck very close to this but with belchers / deathlords / rag etc... Bit more control oriented but still revolved around watchers feeding terrors or shadowflames etc. I definitely think this deck type and it's variations are super fun.
Thanks for your work! great.
i want to drop either the faceless or a harvest/watcher for a sylvanas. its a bit greedy but theres just so much synergy with sylv in this deck
I just saw this game, and I wanted to see the deck list. Thanks. lol
Not a problem!
