Hello, if you are looking for an original and fun way to ladder in the current meta, my deck works extremely well and I haven't seen it around.
It's based upon the old Control Shamans, but actually works alot better nowadays due to the current meta and cards like Hot Spring Guardian & Kalimos.
all Matchups are fairly medium; also always draw-dependant.
Winrate for me currently is 18/3 to rank 8.
If you have any questions please ask :)
I've beaten all the popular net-disease-decks;
- Quest Rogue (medium)
- Secret Mage (easy to medium)
- Pirate Warrior ( Hard matchup due to speed of warrior )
- Devolve Shaman (easy)
- Mana crystal / token druid (easy with devolve)
- Murloc Paladin (easy)
Always Mulligan for:
- Maelstrom portal
- Lightning Storm
- Devolve
- Lightningbolt
- Thing from Below
Early Game
The general idea:
Turn 1: Pass
Turn 2: Totem
Turn 3: Totem
Turn 4: Thing from Below
Other possible route:
Turn 1: Pass
Turn 2: Totem
Turn 3: Totem
Turn 4: Totem + Maelstrom
Turn 5: Totem + Lightning Storm
Use Lightning bolt to snipe protected 3 health minions like totems etc.
Both will always set you back to 10-15 health VS aggro decks, but you can come back very strong after this. Always save Coin unless you really need it, just don't use your AOE cards too early. Let them build the board a bit first, you will have really strong taunts to protect your health after turn 5.
midgame:
Use Far Sight to draw a goodie
Use Hotspring Guardian incase health is being attacked already
Drop Flamewreathed on Turn 4; always VS; Quest rogues, have no answer for this and it can single handed win you the game ) (Why is nobody playing turn 4 7/7 anymore still so good!)
Drop Thing from Below
If possible: Copy Flamewreated or Thing From below with Faceless Shambler
if required: Use Ancestral spirit on Taunt
More detailed:
Turn 8: Flamewreathed + Faceless Shambler
( 2 x 7/7 on board, one with Taunt )
Lategame:
White Eyes + Ancestral Spirit + Spirit Echo Combo ( Please dont get polymorphed :P ) Try to fish out poly or hex with Fire Elemental.
Al Akir turn before Kalimos; if you need health ( I only use him to heal 12 HP after Alexstraza, this is how you can beat mage )
Final destruction blow:
Y'shaarj Rage unbound.
^Now here is where it can get really cool. I've managed to get White Eyes out 3-4 times several games. Yshaarj starts pulling those 10/10 Taunts from your deck, or overload free Flamewreated. overload free Earth Elemental etc.
ALL minions except for Faceless shambler are good to pull, this card has literally won me every single late/end game VS other control decks because they already blew all their control cards on your other strong minions.
Combos for health:
Hallazeal + Ligtningbolt / Maelstrom / Lightning Storm:
Also won me many late games, and makes those spell damage very effective late game.
Always keep Hallazeal on hand unless you really are losing. He's your get out of jail free ticket :)
Hex use for strongest minions late game. Dont waste early.
Last: Coolest Card + your draw engine = Far Sight. It can give you crazy luck with Al akir, or Y'shaarj.
This deck doesnt need alot of draw; you will be very effecient with strong board + resummon mechanics. Usually have enough cards on hands for answers.
Other vital combos:
Devolve VS Druid Mana minions ( ouch ) and Murlocs
Going to play on for rank 5 now and will update if it is still worth playing.
Mostly; enjoy the game!
Bye

Dude there's no Al Akir in your deck. Just saying. :)
"Hello, if you are looking for an original and fun way to ladder in the current meta, my deck works extremely well and I haven't seen it around. "
Sometimes fun and gimmick based decks can be pricey. But the enjoyment isn't about grinding the meta with whatever are the flavors of the week. Its about homebrew love, especially when it works. The ladder is only there to determine the success. If it revives the game for you away from the grind, isn't that cost justified? Very poor advice for game growth and encouraging players to think for themselves.
To OP: +1 for originality and reported success. I made a homebrew RNG mage and a Secret Hunter to troll with that had about 12 secrets in the deck, lock loads, cloaked huntress, Eaglehorn. etc. spent 1200 dust on one snake trap and two lock loads (a week before they went out of rotation too lol). Than I wanted to play a stupid finisher, so I blew 1600 on Krush. Do I regret it? kinda lol. But hey, it's a game it made me laugh more than ladder. In the end, deck made me come back to the game after taking a "permanent break" haha.
