UPDATE 15.08: Updated the decklist with the latest changes :) I think its a lot more solid now and has more all around good cards and got rid of the (a bit excessive) Inner Rages and Dark Iron Dwarfs. I hope you like it :) I also added Legendary Replacements, because it was originally quite a budget deck. PS: Thanks a lot for the support! This is my second hearthpwn deck and I would have NEVER expected such a huge amount of views :)
UPDATE 13.08 2:00 am..: Even though its really late in the night for me, i wanted to thank all of you guys for the support! This is my second deck ive posted and i got on the front page :). On Eu, the 4th Wing just released and there a lot of things to consider... I definetely want to put in one or two death's bites and maybe some more enrage-creatures to combo with it? I will definetely post an updated version tomorrow with some things to test, but it will take time to update the actual decklist, because a lot of testing needs to happen. Maybe some of you guys want to discuss some ideas in the comments and Ill see what you come up with :) Im personally thinking about getting rid of the inner rages.... they just dont do enough for a Midrange Deck.
UPDATE 09.08. : Thank you so much for so much good feedback and so many views! I will definetely get the guide done as soon as possible, even though im currently a bit short on time. Ill post a few important parts of it first and continue into the more uncommon matchups etc. whenever i find the time :)
So I was testing around with some druid and priest decks, but lost too a lot of games and fell from rank 3 to rank 4 with 0 stars. So thats where i created this incredibly powerful Warrior deck... I dont really know how this became so strong, jsut because of the spectral knights, but I went on a 6 game winning streak back to rank 3 and dominated pretty much every game. Its possible that i was just getting lucky, but I still wanted to share this great deck with you guys.
I would really appreciate some feedback and if there is enough interest, i might write a guide to this deck, when I have gotten more experience with it. Also, excuse my possibly bad english, I am not a native speaker.
General Strategy:
1. This deck is all about board controle! you have quite a lot of ways to buff your minions and a lot of good tempo plays while you have minions on the board.
2. Trade efficiently and build a strong board to switch to the opponents face at the right moment. You could for example have round 10-15 damage on the board with Spectral Knight and two more minions and a weapon or something. You just have so many ways to deal the remaining damage, even with losing some of your board presence, that you can end the game very quickly from this point on. ( your weapons and your charge-creatures + some buff up deal a lot of damage)
3. abuse your hero power! in ceartain matchups like Miracle rogue, freeze mage and any other burst type deck, you can easily use your 2 armor per turn to prevent yourself from getting bursted in late game. If you feel save with your board position, it might be better to armor up instead of putting that extra amani berserker on the board. You can mostly estimate their burst potential enough so that you can get out of it. ( druid 14 health burst, miracle 18-22 burst, freeze mage just puts you to 15 with alex, so here you just need as much armor as possible, health doesnt matter much, etc.)
Legendary Replacements:
Ragnaros the Firelord: I replaced an Argent Commander for this card, so you can put that card back in instead :) If you want, you could also put in some other solid Late-game minion like Caire Bloodhoof , Sylvanas Windrunner and maybe The Black Knight.
Loatheb: Even though, this card is comparable to other Naxxramas cards in rarity, its still a Legendary :P I originally ran Azure Drake instead of this card, so that would be a replacement for him.
Mulligan Guide:
In general, you try to get a good curve and allways have a 2 drop in hand! Fiery war axe only counts, when they are aggro-midrange and cruel taskmaster is only good in three cases: 1. You expect to face aggro (great tempo-removal card) 2. when you allready have another two drop to play on turn 2 3. When you go second and have amani berserker as well! This is the dream combo, where you jsut deal 7 damage on turn two with an unbackstabable 7/2 and a 2/2! Early removal like inner rage or slam are only kept against certain matchups, and only if you have a two drop allready, otherwise they wont do enough to justify keeping them!
MidRange Hunter: good Matchup
Good early Cards: Cruel Taskmaster , Amani Berserker , Acolyte of Pain , Whirlwind , Inner Rage
This is one of the standard matchups, just gain board controle, dont overextend too much, because of unleashed the hounds, and armor up if you notice him going for the face a lot. Spectral Knight is great in this Matchup, because it allmost cant be removed, except by a Savannah Highmane. Save your executes for huge taunts from houndmaster and maybe for a Savannah Highmane, if it troubles you.
Warlock / Zoo : can be really good or really bad.
Good early cards: Cruel Taskmaster , Whirlwind , Fiery War Axe
This is quite similar to the Zoo versus Zoo matchup, you both want the board controle and whoever gets it, basically wins. Zoo might have the advantage of having turn 1 plays (if you face Zoo a lot, you could add one or two Argent Squires) , but you have things like cruel taskmaster + inner rage to kill that flame imp or knife juggler and take the board. You also have the Fiery War Axe, which is obviously really strong here, as it kills all early threats, except for Argent Squires. If you lose controle of his board and he starts beating you down with 5 minions on the board, you basically lost and can concede. Some people might want to add Brawl, but imagine it against zoo: you use your whole turn to then leave him with one minion and some deathrattles, while he can just play 2 more creatures and have another board you cant deal with, because you dont have board controle. thats the whole reason behind no Brawl in this deck :)
Token Druid: good Matchup
Good early cards: Whirlwind , Frothing Berserker , Acolyte of Pain
In This Matchup you play similarly to The Hunter Matchup, but you can actually let him run out of options as soon as you have the complete board controle, as token druid doesnt have something like Unleash the Hounds , so you can just overload the board. (obviously dont leave minions at one health of possible, to prevent a swipe comeback) This Matchup is very straight forward.
more Matchups coming soon, as i said this takes some time to make. Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for the support and feedback :-)
Most times, at turn 7-8, i am almost out of cards in my hand, so i remove one Slam, and put Deathwing instead, seems to work well.
I subbed Kelthuzad for Rag and went 5-1 in Casual.Excellent deck for questing, will try it on ladder start of season.
I've enjoyed the heck out of playing this deck, especially my meteoric rise from Rank 20 to 14. Much harder up here. As you noted, I find Zoolock to be a very hard match up. Thankfully in the current meta there are not as many of them, as lots of other new decks are eating their lunch. I also find paladin hard to take down (not quite as much), due to his abundance of cards that boost his minions or nerf ours. The strength of the deck, for me, is in the tempo and being able to drop big, high health cards out there for your opponent to struggle with.
(Oh... and voila, I got Ragnaros to drop in an arena victory pack, while I was playing this deck in ranked play. In he went. Was using Alexstrazza before that.)
You really should use the edit deck feature rather then just posting up notes in the description works a lot better overall.
This deck has been moderately successful for me in limited play with it. I did have to substitute Rag though, I put Leeroy in his place and it seems to be working out ok at the moment.
Death's Bite is a pretty good card against zoo and allows for great trading, but you have to be careful getting too weapon heavy.. because many classes will find it very easy to burst you down once you've cleared a few minions with your face and gotten down to around 12-15 health. For the most part, going to the face with Death's Bite on the second charge seems best, unless there is an obviously unfavorable trade on the board that can only be prevented by clearing the minion.
Personally, I would drop the two Dark Iron Dwarves and Loot Hoarder for another Acolyte of Pain and 2 Gnomish Inventors. The ability to draw your card immediately with Gnomish Inventor is better than dropping the Loot Hoarder and hoping it doesn't get silenced or if it gets hero powered it didn't really create that much of a board presence in the first place. Plus, the high health of the Inventor gives you more opportunity to use cards like Inner Rage/Cruel Taskmasker later on for buffs without killing it outright, or Whirlwind without it poofing. Same for the Acolyte, its got the health to make your opponent either waste a card/trade/ or have something hit it's face instead of your for a turn at the least.
subbed a azure drake for a argus
Pathetic deck, do not waste your time with this
This is a great deck. i replaced Argent with rag because i don't have him and it work good still. Also one Drake with grommash he is a great finisher even if you don't enrage him he is a 4-9 charge and priests can't touch him with out enraging him and the other argent with brawl. thanks for the deck btw.
Hey, first of all i liked the deck a lot but i think it has lack of aoe damage what do you think about that and also i don't have argent commander so i am using Grommash and Harrison instead of them. Any advice will be appreciated.
who is upvoting these decks? this deck is a joke. if by new meta you mean new lose games meta then yes this deck is great
This looks interesting... and cheap. I would be sad if I did better with this than my "expensive" decks haha. Spectral Knight is a good card for sure. I'm also considering trying the Frothing Berserker again with all the new taunts and AOEs available he could be nasty, or at least be a good way to make the opponent waste cards removing him.
Not sure how I stumbled upon this deck, but I really like it. Thank you! I would appreciate a guide on how you play it, but so far it seems pretty easy.
I really enjoyed this deck, i'm playing around with some variations at the moment and it's working really well for me on the ladder. I subbed one inner rage for a cairne, because of all the priests.
Sometimes Inner Rage is such a dead card, because it needs something to work with. And i didn't really know what else to take out, i'm trying around all sorts of things now. I love Azure drake too much to take it out.
I haven't faced a miracle in a while.
rogue is a broken class, it should have been nerfed long time ago but blizzard kids are not capable of fixing anything in the game
Roughly 55/45 win rate against miracle, the more I play against them the more I learn to deal with them but the fact that you have so much charge and a Spectral Knight who can't be targeted makes it pretty difficult for them to really stop you from smashing their face. The amount of pressure you can put on the rogue in a few turns is kind of the key reason I win this matchup so often. I've gotten close games where it looked like I lost but I was saved by armor up.
I think it's just a matchup of finding a comfortable board position without overextending. More often than not I'm just using my weapon to hit face to keep my health and armor high and let the rogue deal with my board because if he doesn't I can just throw a charge in next turn and smack him in the face for 15+. If the rogue uses deadly poison to kill your minions early that is usually a good thing for you cause they take so much damage from hitting your creatures that if you have weapons or charge they will see their health drop incredibly fast in a few turns.
This is one matchup where having Grommash Hellscream in my deck made easier cause it's a very powerful finisher and even if you use it to remove a creature, it's so powerful the rogue seriously can not ignore it unless he has lethal on you. I should probably add that I have Loatheb in my deck too which shuts them out of lethal if you use it at the right time. I replaced it with an Azure Drake to test but I think Loatheb has been more useful in most of my matches.
Can I put Grommash Hellscream in this deck? If I do I'm unsure what to replace, there's not a card with the same cost to replace and that's usually what I go by when switching around cards.
