Hey guys, posting a deck that got me legend relatively fast. Had bad rng, ragequit hearthstone for about 2 weeks, started up hearthstone last night and it took me about 30-35 games, 3-5 hrs from rank 4 to legend.
Remember that Quest rogue is a pretty flexible deck in terms of tech choices and you should change your list depending on what you face on your rank & region. I made this list for especially anti-aggro since I had trouble against token druid and secret mages. Explanation for tech choices are below.
Tech choices
Wisp prompt quest completion possible if you get lucky with bounces. Turn 3 Quest completion very possible
Backstab one copy is very good vs aggro; I've tried 2 copies and they are very underwhelming if you get 2 in your hand, moreso if you get it from mimic pod. VERY USEFUL for triggering Counterspell
Sap one copy works well. It allows you to bypass annoying taunts or gain a tempo lead. VERY USEFUL vs Tirion Fordring and Primordial Drake
Swashburglar only adding this to proc turn 1 patches for a board presence; also because no one is running Golakka Crawler atm.
Excluded Tech choices
Fire Fly & Igneous Elemental are removed from the deck. They are amazing but are a bit slow. If the meta is slower for you then definitely add them and remove Wisp and Swashburglar.
Hungry Crab useful half the time, didn't include it since it's useless vs mages & warrior.
Golakka Crawler same thing; include if you see a alot of pirates.
Strategy
Mulligan for bounce, moreso than regular quest rogue. We lack Fire Fly & Igneous Elemental so it's harder to proc quest without them. Likewise don't be afraid of using prep+vanish as a bounce if need be. This version is much simpler to mulligan than the regular one, since you don't have to worry about keeping the elementals in the starting hand.
Focus on bounces if vs control. Against aggro, keep pirates if you are going first for a board presence to trade (backstab too). Keep wisp if you have 2 bounce going second.
ALWAYS check if you have lethal post quest.
USE Vanish effectively to finish quest, reset board, avoid lethal and perform lethal.
Matchups
Warrior keep Southsea Deckhand if you are going first, play it to get a board vs pirate; use backstab for early removal. Sap is a key finisher vs taunt warriors.
Shaman try to keep their board clear, use freeze to avoid bloodlust combo lethals.
Rogue just complete quest asap.
Paladin Keep backstab and turn 1 pirates vs aggro. Save sap for tirion. Remember to play around secrets.
Hunter Same as Paladin.
Druid keep backstab and turn 1 pirates. Keep glacial to freeze turn 1 GG-bird Vicious Fledgling
Mage use backstab to trigger counterspell. Proc block fast if they are burn&freeze, keep clear board vs secret. Freeze Medivh
Priest finish quest. Play around dragonfire.
I might have missed some stuff but feel free to ask me questions. ye
Mimic pod is replacable with coldlight, but make sure to include igneous and firely if you want to use coldlight instead.
