After playing the boring old standard Taunt Warrior deck, I was looking for something a little more exciting and original. I love the design around the new card Direhorn Hatchling, a 5 mana 6/9 taunt is nothing to sneeze at, but felt this value was too inconsistently extracted by normal means.
The ultimate goal of this deck is to slim our deck down, and then fill it with these 6/9 taunts, and overwhelming our opponent with late game tempo.
Another new Un'goro card helps us reduce our deck to just a few cards that we want... Hemet, Jungle Hunter. Using this, we can concentrate our Direhorn value considerably, as well as pair them with some other desirable cards. N'zoth is an obvious choice here; he brings us back 2 3/6 taunts and eventually adds 2 more 6/9 taunts to our deck.
At this point we have at least 4 of these 6/9 taunts in our deck. Spiritsinger Umbra helps boost this by at least one by playing it with one of our initial Direhorns, but I've gotten greedy, hid him behind one of the 6/9s before playing N'zoth, and had great success, which gives us another 2 6/9s.
The Control/Quest Warrior shell works great here, as most of the tools you want are 3 mana or less, and the only really indispensable card, Brawl, does not get destroyed by Hemet. The basic objective is to gain armor, control your enemies board as best you can, and draw as many cards as possible, trying to get Hemet on turn 6, or ASAP. We can get the ball really rolling after he is played.
The only reason we include the quest at all is to provide the deck with that final little punch to finish our opponent off from behind our virtually impenetrable wall of 6/9s.
Hope you can enjoy this different approach to control/quest warrior, and I hope I can inspire some people to think a bit out of the box, especially when it comes to incorporating Hemet into decks!
Here ... have an upvote!! Big N'Zoth fan ......
I can finally use my golden Umbra!
Only played one game with this deck. It was fun to play, and I won :)
have you though about Primordial Drake?
It's been on the revision list!
I will definitely try it out, but the rationale behind not initially including it is that we want to have as few cards after Hemet as possible, and with limited cards, having one that potentially hurts our own guys could be quite detrimental. Plus it would add another card that is absolutely terrible if drawn early game (N'Zoth and Umbra already are like this).
I shall give it a try, and see how I like it :)
