Hi guys, i'm Xhiora and i play on the EU server,

i decided to write this guide because i had a lot of success with it so far and some of my recent opponets asked me to send them the list.

Originally, i built this Kazakus Mage for a tournament with my friends, but in the process of testing it (i was rank 5 at the time) i found this list very consistent and i manage to reach a safe position in rank 4, sometimes very close to rank 3.

Reno Mage was my favourite deck in Msog meta and i had a lot of experience with it, but i really did not expected it to be playable without Reno Jackson. Let's start looking at what Msog Reno Mage has lost in the current Standard rotation:

Reno Jackson: Reno was obviusly the deck-defining card, and was your only necessary win condition against pirate decks.

Arcane Blast: Very efficent and cheap removal, it was important.

Brann Bronzbeard: Excellent with Kazakus for extra value.

Emperor Thaurissan: Another value card that we miss a lot, Thaurissan helped your Archmage Antonidas and was in general very useful.

Forgotten Torch: this spell helped you in the long run and surviving the early game.

Now let's look at what Journey to Un'Goro brings to Reno Mage:

Arcanologist,Primordial Gliph,Tar Creeper and Elise the Trailblazer.

In my opinion the meta slowed down just down for this deck to be viable. The midrange matchups are the easiest (Elemental Shaman, Midrange Hunter and Midrange Paladin), agaist aggro you are obviusly hand-reliant, but if you manage to draw the Tar Creeper and some other anti-aggro tools they are not hard at all. If your opponent is an hard control deck like Lyra Prest, Control Paladin, Miracle Rogue or rarely Handlock it's really easy to out-last them and control the game.

The only two hard matchups are Taunt Warrior and Quest Rogue, but i manage to beat a good numbers of rogue bursting them down while freezing the board, it's definitely a skill match.

This is all for this guide, i hope to have inspired some of you to play this awesome deck and it will be very cool if some of you guys can leave a comment and a feedback to this list, i'm sure that this list is improvable and it will be fantastic for me to get legend with my all-time favourite deck.

I will update the guide and i'm here to aswer all your comments

Thanks for reading and see you on ladder!

SEASON 38 UPDATE:

The deck is still working in season 38, because the paladin matchup is not that hard and i'm glad to see less quest warrior. I added 1 Meteor and removed 1 Faceless Summoner because i felt i needed more hard removal, while having a proactive 6-drop does not matter that much. I look forward to try more cards in the future (like Alexstrasza or Pyroblast).
