Hey guys Furo here,
some of you might know me, I am the guy that is testing various decks each day! With the new expansion out and Paladin being great again I decided to go for legend this month.
Control Paladin is at the moment one of the best decks to climb on the ladder, because it is able to compete with every opposing archtype, has high winrates across the board and even in unfavourable matchups you are only slightly behind (normally still reaching 46-48% WR as an average player in those).
I started to grind seriously yesterday on stream (Follow here if you like: Twitch) and finished the climb early today with a "nice" score of 21-3 / 88% WR. It would have been even higher but I lost the last game twice due some insane top decks by my opponents.

If you have questions about cards or playstyle please feel free to use the comment section.
You can also find a gameplay video, which I made yesterday on rank 5/4 on my Youtube channel: VOD control Paladin
good deck list!
I'm replacing Wickerflame Burnbristle with Gluttonous Ooze, as more and more mage & priest in ladder are playing medivh. furthermore destroying a pirate warrior weapon is always good in aggro matchup.
awesome deck, went from rank 13 to 4 with under 10 losses, will be piloting this to legend :)
Sounds great, good luck on your journey :)
I'm likely going to replace the twilight drake with a forbidden healing. There are so many times that I wish I had it against aggro or even some co tell lists. Also I feel that we are severely lacking card draw and rely way too much on ivory knight to get some heals back. I was doing g better but now I'm even losing to taunt warrior and music paladi consistently.
I also asked it under the youtube video but you might probably not notice that so I'll ask you here: which of the legendaries are more usefull in this particular deck in your opinion? Sunkeeper or Ragnaros the Lightlord? I have limited dust resourses and a big willingness to play paladin in this meta. Tyrion is in posession but what about other two? Any recomendation which one should I craft first?
Btw deck looks really great and love the video, keep it up man! :) Cheers.
i hate to say this but i think both are an absolute need for a control deck.. but the difference is Sunkeeper works well in non aggro as well
Hey Jacob!
I`ll always read every comment, but you need to give me a few more hours until I can reply! ;)
Both cards are excellent, but right now I would pick the Sunkeeper because you can also use him in the more aggressive Murloc build, which is not using the Lightlord. So you will get two decks for the price of one! If you have a Lay on Hands you could play that instead of the lightlord (or a second Steed is also very good! Sick card)
Yeah I also thought about it in similar way. Thx Furo! :)
Have a nice day.
Hey man, what would you replace for Curator? I don't have Karazhan finished just yet..
Without the Curator you would either need to change the build of the deck completely (beast murloc dragon synergy is obsolete) or find some extra card draw. I guess you are not interested in changing the deck completely, so go for one Lay on Hands but mind you that it is by a wide margin not as good as The Curator!
How are you handling Quest Rogues? They seem to be one of the tougher match ups.
Yes Quest Rogue is indeed one of the harder ones. Normally you will run into problems if the Rogue is able to get hits Quest done too fast. Your endgame is really strong, so a late Quest finish is in general not a tough task. To prevent an early finish you definitely need to look out for Dirty Rat (even take more with Stonehill defender if possible) and your Pyromancer/Equality clear. Hold on to the clear until they have fullfilled their Quest and dropped 3-5 units on the board, THEN punish them. On average they are able to refill the board one more time before running out of steam, but the second wave is weaker and your big guys are coming. :)
Without neither Dirty Rat nor Pyro/Equality it is surely tough. If you are seeing too many add a second Dirty Rat for sure, but the amount of Quest Rogues is going down right now (not the best WR), so you should be good.
Im 1-5 with this list. I think i have just been extremely unlucky right now at rank 5 with matchups and my opponents just really getting the nuts.
same... I seriously don't know how this deck is supposed to win
How essential is wickerflame to this list??
I'd say he's quite useful against early aggro, for minor healing and stalling. However if you match him with Spikeridged Steed, I believe it can be quite powerful later on, but he is not a MUST HAVE I believe, it's just a useful tech card.
Hey,
Wickerflame is a great tool early on (healing / Divine Shield), but also important late in the game against e.g. Quest Warrior. Divine Shield units have the option to eat two Hero Powers by the Warrior, which is the reason on top of the counter Paladin Hero Power that the deck is performing strong in this matchup
On the other hand keep in mind that the Stonehill Defender has a VERY HIGH chance to find the Wickerflame (alongside all the other strong Paladin legendaries), so even without him in the deck you will still play a lot of the times.
