UPDATE 3: You guys have been so nice that I picked up streaming again! Will work on a schedule. You can check me out at twitch.tv/boomtjalah
UPDATE 2: I designed a new deck for ranks 10-Legend. It's Paladin and its absolutely crushing. 31-7 so far! Check it out! http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/805759-11-2-so-far-boomtjalahs-control-curator-paladin
UPDATE: This deck has insane winrates from ranks 20 to roughly 8. I went 30-5 and so do a lot of people as you can read in the comments. From rank 8 however this deck seems to stagnate as they seem to be flooded with priest and taunt warrior ATM. I am working on 'another elevator' to give the fast climb from down up a nice follow up. If you are new, have little dust and start climbing from 20 or 25 this deck is the best in the game.
As promised I will work on a detailed mulligan and match up guide. Thanks for the love <3
Hi Guys, I'm Boomtjalah! I'm a multiple times Legend player and infinite Arena player. I decided to start sharing some of the decks I use this expansion, or my adaptions of existing ones.
I'm currently trying this FaceHunter list. I decided to call it Elevator Hunter because it's a fast trip to the top of the ladder, able to win all matches. Having a 90% WR from rank 15-8. I started with another FaceHunter list but I felt like it was still a bit off. I won all rogue and piratewarrior matches so far and a few taunt warriors, so this list is promising.
Though the name implies differently, you actually make a lot of trades early and mid. General rule though is: only trade when you can totally win the board, when you have cards for really superb trading, or obviously when you need to.
Against Zoolock for example it's usually a good idea to maybe only make one trade and then apply SMOrc pressure!
Mulligan: Alleycat,Jeweled Macaw, Crackling Razormaw
Hunter's Mark is one of the true MVP's in this deck. Use it wisely to win unwinable matchups!
You can replace Leeroy with Tundra Rhino.
While I write the rest of the guide, enjoy this showcase video made by kiwiinbacon
complete garbage, rank 10, 4 matches, 4 defeats, lost for different deck, has been a force in the beginning but from the middle to the front is a complete waste of time this deck.
4 is not a good sample size as you can easily run into 4 counter matchups. However you may be right about the middle to front part. That's why I have been creating new decks for those ranks. Please check out my Paladin deck, it's working like crazy for me and is lots of fun, it's an intermediately difficult deck to play though.
Keep in mind you're also in EU which is easier at the lower ranks
Hey guys, multi time legend here (including a top 100 finish). I think the title/description of this deck is a little misleading, and I would NOT recommend this as a competitive deck if your goal is to get to legend.
While I do not think it's the OP's intent, I think the deck's title and summary is VERY misleading. I think it's actually wrong to say its an "elevator deck because you climb the ranks to legend super fast" when the OP's biggest accomplishment with this deck is going from rank 15->8 with a small sample size. Also note, it's much easier to get 90% win rate from rank 15-->8 with ANY deck because the general skill of players and competitive viability of decks at this rank is low, so climbing in these ranks could be very swingy.
So again, if your goal is to get to legend with a highly competitive deck, I would NOT recommend this. When searching for decks on hearthpwn, I suggest looking for actual statistics that are posted and evidence that a deck can be played successfully at the highest ranks. I encourage the OP to post actual statistics and class vs class match summary from deck tracker or whatever stat-tracking he has (if he uses one). Good luck!
I agree with this comment 100%, I am a multi time legend as well. What baffles me is the up votes meaning there are so many new players that get mislead into believe this kind of deck can be actually competitive. Please do us a favor OP, don't mess with the new players minds man come on, rank 15-8 and you got balls to say legend deck? get real.
Where did I say 'legend deck'? I said very honestly that I was going to see if I got it to legend. I also gave number of games and the ranks I played at.
It's a great elevator to climb the ladder from 25 to rank 8 or so. Totally insane winrate at those ranks. However having now played more at around rank 8 this deck stagnates due to immense amount of counters that see play at those levels compared to below 8. So first of I will play more for a bigger sample on these ranks but I'm also working on another rank to progress from 8-legend in the fastest manner. I will update my findings and have no need to not be honest about the deck as you see. However, I already stated the ranks I played and never told it reached legend already.
Good sample size man. Must be pro too
Great list! Currently rank 3 atm and looking to climb higher
Is there any Place for Dinomancy or Stampede ?
Unfortunately these cards are to slow for this deck.
Been playing it with some pretty good success. Didn't want to go with Leeroy, Tundra Rhino has been working quite well.
Dropped 1 dire wolf for a cult master. I find that I can make efficient enough trades early on, and this deck really requires some form of card draw. Otherwise quite solid, can't seem to find anything else worth changing.
Hey man thanks for this deck. Iv been playing with elemental shaman to rank 8 but got sick of the all the rogues and pirates. This deck really helped with dealing with them
Rank 5 This elevator stops and u probably must get out and take another.
Got owned by nearly everybody except some megafin shams and some other hunts playing the easy 18_2
Fun deck.thnx anyway.
You're probably right, very taunt heavy meta up top.
"5/5" Taunt cancer :)))))
Love beating up on rogue questers with this deck
Really good deck, thank you alot :)
I like this deck, first time I reach Rank 17. But I only have a 55% win rate. I'm making some changes to see if I can improve it.
For example, I changed the Eaglehorn for two better weapons: 1 x Piranha Launcher and 1 x Gladiator's Longbow. Why? Cuz I prefer to use the 3 manas for beasts, hence the weapon stays longer in my hand. And against aggro decks, the Piranha is quite useful. And against strong minions, the Longbow is great.
I replaced the two Savannah Highmane by two Starving Buzzard. Why? Cuz if I need to use the Savannah, it's because the opponent is keeping me at bay, and in mid-game, this deck gets very low in cards quickly. Often I end up without cards. The Buzzard helped me a few times already.
I replaced one Dire Wolf for one Alley Cat. Why? Cuz it's a great combo with Knife Juggler and Starving Buzzard.
I'll let you know if I make more changes, depending on the tips Boom will give us. For example, to keep my card counts ok, I know tend to use the Hero Power in priority now, to make sure we never reach 10 mana. Also, I try to make my opponent waste removal cards early, as bait. So I can put more useful cards after. For example, using the coin to put a Knife Juggler on turn 1 is a great bait.
Hi Friend, I would strongly urge you to put back all the original cards. When your winrate is 55% at those ranks and it's te first time evenreaching 17 it means you still have a lot to learn about the game. When to trade, how to trade and when not to trade. Take care
Hi Lokihu and Boomtjalah,
Thanks for the comments. My win rate was at 55% with the original cards. But yes, I'm a new player to this game, but not a new card players. I was a heavy MTG player many years ago.
So far, the Knife Juggler on turn 1 or 2 has been quite a useful 3 dmg spell bait or wasting a 3/2 or a useful 2/2 minion. Like this, I can use the hero power longer. Yes, I try to keep the minions.
Like I wrote, the two weapons are often finishers or control aggro decks. I don't play them as soon as I have the mana. The Eaglehorn was not making much difference in the 38-40 games I played with this deck.
But if it's my decision making that is causing me to lose too often, I'm always looking to get better. So, looking forward with your tips, Boom.
