Introduction
Hello! I'm James1, a 13 times EU legend player, legend proof in spoiler and across my other decks . This deck is Miracle Malygos Rogue or elegance. Its original conception was before pre-naxx and was created by firebat. The deck has had its ups and down over the years, with various card releases and nerfs. But with the release of Tomb Pillager it's back in full force.
The decks main focus is board control, Gadgetzan Auctioneer draw and a spell power damage finisher. The win condition is typically Malygos, Sinister Strike , Preparation and a number of other damage spells. Before Blackrock Mountain Preparation had to be saved for Malygos combo, however, with the addition of Emperor Thaurissan your spells and malygos can be discounted - allowing for more Uninteractive fun. mage of the list in spoiler below.
League of explores brought Tomb Pillager which finally revived Gadgetzan Auctioneer draw engine. More exciting, Tomb Pillager also allows for consistent coin Emperor Thaurissan play on turn 5. Reducing your and by 1 and creating insane turn 6 Gadgetzan Auctioneer auctioneer turns. Finally you can also save tomb coins for addition mana for Malygos OTK.
Sinister Strike this is definitely a good card for the deck. At the moment i dont recommend cutting it for Conceal. You really want that extra reach with Sinister Strike in control match ups
Play guide
Generally I encourage people watch pro players piloting the deck. Superjj102 and CosplayGrill are to very good players of Malygos Miracle. Click their names for the twitch link and check their VODs.
Its is important to use removal to maintain board control in aggro/ midrange matches, while saving as many damage spells for Malygos in heavy control match ups like Control Warrior and Priest.
Mulligan
Never keep Malygos or Sinister Strike in opening hand. If You have a good hand for the match up its okay to keep cycle cards like Shiv and Fan of Knives.
Vs control decks like warrior and priest you want to keep Tomb Pillager , Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Azure Drake in your opening hand.
Any thoughts or improvement feel free to post.
For Thalnos you can use Kobald Geomancer and for Barnes, another azure drake might work
Thanks a lot dude I appreciate it, gonna try it! :3
I'm going to build this bad boy, just crafted malygos, and that was the only other card I didn't have for this one.
How is it performing since the yogg nerf? Nothing in this list got nerfed, which seems like it might make it a bit stronger in the current meta. I'll find out for myself too, but I'm curious from what others have tried!
Thanks for the decklist and guides! :D
Went from 1 star rank 19 to...3 star rank 19. Deck can't beat warriors at all and can't beat zoo without serious luck in drawing Thalnos + FoK.
Fun to play, but not competitive. Didn't face any shamans, so can't comment on that. Deck handled priests like a champ, but a deck full of Leper Gnomes could do that priest is so bad. About 50/50 against druids and mages.
I am climbing the ladder just fine with this deck. You can get to legend just fine using this deck. Try to use resources carefully against mid range/control. I am using this deck but without Barnes and VanCleef though with these you should in theory do much much better.
Bit egocentric to think that the issue is the deck and not that you're a rank 19 player?
You're second comment is even more egotistical than the first. So I'm not sure what you're pointing out.
If all you do is "complete dailies and log off", perhaps your input regarding deck performance is not useful to us?
Thank you to the OP for the deck list and guide.
git gud
Can someone help me out with the hunter matchup? Doesn't seem to matter what kind of hunter, without healing the game is often over by turn 6 and surely over by turn 8 call of the wild. I'm competitive against any other class
I have been having good results vs aggro with +1 violet illusionist -1 si:7 agent. It's a better barnes target (since it only has to be on board for immune effect to work) and it trades with other 4 health minions which si:7 agent cant like totem golem. using deadly poison comboed with violet illusionist has save me a lot of health. I have even killed ragnaros with shadowstrike, illusionist, deadly poison to kill rag. Basically an antique healbot in that case, which will keep you immune the next turn if they don't kill it. It is also essentially a taunt against aggro because they don't want you to use your weapon for free. Even if you dont have anything to hit on the board, it feels better to just drop it without a combo because of the 4/3. I also have been running a skulker instead of a shiv. Shiv doesn't really help that much against aggro, and against control, it will often cause me to overdraw, so I think one is good. Shaman and warlock matchups are pretty essential to have skulker. Also running +1 conceal and -1 journey below, because against aggro, I need gadgetzan to survive until turn 7 or 8 depending when played. Gadgetzan, coin, conceal has won me a lot of games just from being able to draw through my deck the next turn. I know this is a bit unconventional, but also playing a Doomsayer instead of the other journey below. its really funny playing a doomsayer while gadgetzan is on board because they really hesitate whether its worth keeping board over letting gadget live. Its also an amazing turn 2 or 3 drop vs aggro. I've even used doomsayer and conceal vs evolve shaman so they couldn't hex it and it won me the game. Conclusion: I think journey below is too inconsistent and could work out great or you get dead cards which waste a spot in your hand but cost too much mana
What do you think of Swashburglar in this deck?
Forgot to make a video but i was playing the rogue malygos against a priest and got a ton of card draws thanks to Gadgetzan Auctioneer, but prior to that i got an unusual amount of duplicates for Tomb Pillager thanks to the 2x Journey Below rng pulling the same thing twice. So i had like 4 x Tomb Pillager in this game o_O;
So anyway because of the 2 coins i managed to get out of using 2 pillagers, i later could use that with auctioneer for the pull, and the game result ended up with me gaining a lot of momentum, but sadly i over drew in the next 2 or so turns and sadly one of those cards that got discarded was a .... Malygos ...
I had to then make do with the minion cards i had on board which were Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Emperor Thaurissan, Tomb Pillager, SI:7 Agent, Barnes (and whatever minion card he pulled forgot what it was), Azure Drake ..... (yes i had board control with my own minions on board and his being empty, so i had that initiative at least)
But problem soon cropped up i ran out of cards and started to burn hp, of which i was under 14 HP and only lasted for like 4 turns and under by that point, and even worse the enemy had used a brann bronzebear and that another minion card that healed him back to 30 hp.....
So had to all go face using minions, then carefully use spells to remove the minion, brann had to just sap it (cause my HP was too low so i couldn't risk taking that damage and survive burn ontop of that next turn).
All my cards from hand had already been spent for the last 2-3 turns so it was funny that i still won.
Moral of story, if you don't want to be put in this situation, never ever let your Malygos get discarded cause he is the chunk of your damage to win the game, otherwise you end up in a last ditch smorc fight like the one i put up ^-^;
*update
Made a new priest video (different game from the one i talked about above) but with a similar situation where Malygos gets stolen (in this case by a priest), not to mention the deathwing, dragon lord (which would have helped me pull out Malygos in my hand at the time) prior to that which i got from using Journey Below. Speaking of which the other Journey Below i had drew a Bloodmage Thalnos duplicate because i already had another in my hand on turn 1, which helped me win early on.
Made another video but against hunter
But basically i'm just demonstrating the sort of fire power you have with those kinds of cards (2xSinister Strike, 1-2x Shiv, 1x Eviscerate ), and if by that time you lack them, the chances of you winning is gonna be slim to none :{ Just keep in mind in the video i had already damage his face by 8 in the early game with minions, and yet 2 cards with Malygos was not enough to win the game, so i had to use the 3rd card which was a Shiv. and even then just imagine if the opponent had 30 hp and had a taunt in that same situation, i would then require a 4th card like Eviscerate or some other in order to deal the kill blow on that turn. Even worse if the opponent was a warrior and kept armoring up to get out of my kill blow reach.
heck the turn prior to me winning i had to put down Malygos followed by Preparation and then Fan of Knives to clear the board to give me a win chance on the next turn. that is another requirement especially if you didn't get the chance for Emperor Thaurissan to discount your malygos cost, or have any spare The Coin.
the deck is very specific about being able to throw nukes preferably on same turn or on the next turn after with Malygos still surviving. Maybe some people manage to win after Malygos dies 1-2 turns after that using more card draws and other left over cards, but how often is that :X just wondering?
PS: i noted down how many of those cards i mentioned you need to combo with Malygos in order to land the kill blow. I've won before without using Shiv's but now i reckon maybe it's worth hanging onto it for Malygos in case you don't draw Sinister Strike in time which requires a lot of card pull to get. Eviscerate i felt only keeping 1 for boss was good enough, because your most likely going to need to Eviscerate early to mid game just to delay and stay alive.
anyway guess the point i'm making is, clear board of his minions definitely, but hitting his face early on with your minions like Tomb Pillager, Barnes would definitely be useful in reducing the requirement of spell damage cards required for Malygos to get the kill on the turn he gets placed, or on the immediate turn after without dragging it to a third turn, especially against taunts.
Hello! I was wondering how Journey Below has been performing for you. It seems like conceal would be great in this deck for shenanigans, including now protecting a Barnes highroll. Is journey Below worth potentially missing this opportunity?
journey below pulled out some interesting minions for me. not to mention it can combo with other cards like s:17, eviscerate, auctioneer.... or as a turn 1 card... i think it's fine :X
Yes conceal is good, especially if you can hide one of the following which are extremely good is surviving more than 1 turn
Thats why i don't know why someone else said conceal is bad.... cause it doesn't look that way to me :X
In this new video, my rogue malygos build went up against a druid malygos. so which deck was better? watch the video
at the end he brought out Malygos and thought he won, but little did he know i too had Malygos (golden), and his little brother Azure Drake. it helped that i dominated early in the game by controlling the board and a lucky pull by Barnes for a 1/1 Emperor Thaurissan which past that point lead me to being able to clear his board while placing my own minions on the board, and sapping his big minions.
And it also didn't hurt having the kill blow combo cards when you needed it e.g. Sinister Strike x2, Preparation, Tomb Pillager (which lead to The Coin when i very much needed it). Heck i even drew a second Emperor Thaurissan.
so winning conditions was either The Coin + Preparation, or an Emperor Thaurissan before using Malygos, so that was the perfect hand with 2 options to choose from :}
Though in this particular situation using the Emperor Thaurissan first method would not have worked since he had a malygos waiting to nuke me dead next turn.
oh right and Gadgetzan Auctioneer is also critical in the early mid game for helping you draw as many cards you can to have enough weapons to fend them off, while waiting for the end game as demonstrated in my video.
In my deck i used Conceal because i didn't have [card]Edwin VanCleef[/card], and honestly i think it works really well cause it helped me keep my Azure Drake and Gadgetzan Auctioneer from being killed off, so the enemy spent a turn putting down a big minion i sapped the next turn while spamming spells to get as many cards as i could. Thats why Conceal is awesome to have.
PS: a druid malygos build in karazhan would be something along these lines (this video below is not by me by the way)
Okay i made a video using this deck (minus van cleef which i don't have so i instead replaced with Conceal) when you actually get all the necessary cards in order to dominate the opponent who can't do anything at that point :p *unless they could kill my Malygos, sheep, sleep, mind control, or put it back into my hand which druids aren't known for doing most of these, especially with an empty board.
Anyway enjoy the rape fest demonstration by me :}
1 turn away from winning :{ so unlucky. i managed to clear his board and 1 turn away from winning but then he pulls out a drake and uses his last cheap spell to finish me off >_<:
