INTRODUCTION:

Hey guys, whats up! This deck is for 100% free to play players who are newer to the game or are playing on a new account without cards unlocked!

I won't make empty promises that this deck will get you legend on ladder, as it *will* drop games to filled out net decks, but it can hold up surprisingly well vs. other budget decks, and is fun to play!

I recently started playing a bit on EU/Asia servers and realized I needed to get some mage quests done--well I didn't have an arena deck for mage and didn't really have any dust to craft a deck with either--so I got this idea to make the best vanilla mage deck I could. This deck uses ZERO rare cards in the list, so is really easy to get! You'll either already own most of these cards in the vanilla set or be able to craft them pretty cheaply--most of the cards you might need to craft are also going to be good cards you can put it most good mage decks for the future as well!

You might notice there's a couple Karazhan cards in the list and think "Hey wait that's not F2P!". Rest assured, you can unlock the firelands portals from the first encounter of the expansion which is free!

ABOUT THE DECK:

I won't go into much detail for the deck, as there isn't much to be described--this deck's archetype would lie somewhere between tempo and control--you're going to want to look for your early drops in the mulligan (1s and 2s) and attempt to curve out from there, playing well-statted minions and using removal efficiently to secure a board and win the game. This deck will perform best against a great number of less refined decks in general, but primarily against midrange or tempo decks, as that's the range you'll be able to trade into/remove most efficiently.

TL;DR

This isn't the strongest mage deck in the game, but it's probably close to the best deck you can make with nearly zero cards unlocked.
