Check out my teamate J4CKIECHAN's standard egg druid deck guide!
Hey my name is Control! I’m on team Fade2Karma and hit rank 1 legend with egg druid. This is a wild deck that was doubted by some (tier 4 in the wild meta snapshot). I decided that I needed to show that J4ckie’s creation was still a tier 1 deck – so I made a new iteration and played some games! I found that Egg Druid eats reno decks for breakfast, and has a >50% matchup against Pirate warrior. Meaning that it’s a great deck to ladder with at the moment. In this article I’ll be going over specific matchups. In the video below I covered my thoughts on card inclusions, general advice, mulligans, and more. I'd appreciate it if you checked it out then looked at the written portion to answer matchup specific questions.
(Updated) High Legend Gameplay:
Sir Finley Hero Powers:
Warlock > Shaman/Paladin > Mage > Rest are situational
Matchups:
Egg Druid: 14-11
The mirror generally comes down to whoever draws better. Try to play for one buff turn with cards like Mark of the lotus or Power of the Wild. As per usual this is a board control matchup so fight for board as hard as he possibly can. The player who has board control will win the mirror matchup. Dragon Egg + Mark of the Wild will win you the matchup if used together early.
Reno Mage: 11-1 Easy
Reno mage's have slow starts. Go as wide as you can early on while still playing around volcanic potion if possible. Look to setup for a large buff or soul of the forest for turn 4/5. Playground blizzard on turn six and Flamestrike on turn 7. Reno Mages will often use Reno Jackson the turn after you pop the ice block. Keep this in mind so you can set up the next 30 damage.
Reno/Dragon Priest Easy/Medium 21-5
Reno priest is similar to mage. They like the early-game removal to be able to punish your weak early boards. So you can get away with going wide with end up minions to set up a turn 4 soul of the forest. Keep in mind that priest has excavated evil, holy Nova, and dragonfire potion on turns 5/6. If you're wide enough you can generally when before then with a early Savage Roar.
Dragon priest is a little bit harder than reno priest to beat. Twilight Whelp and Wyrmrest agent can be annoying for us to deal with as our early game minions are weak without buffs. You also need to play around holy Nova and dragon fire potion in this matchup. I've only lost to dragon priest's that have curved out extremely well for example turn 1/2/3/4/5 they play on curve minions.
Aggro/Midrange Shaman Hard/Hard 16-16
Aggro shaman is generally easier to beat because they do not run lightning storm. However, spirit Claws and Maelstrom portal still destroy our deck. Try to play around these great early game cards as best as you possibly can. For example, try to get Mark of the Wild on Dragon Egg so your opponent has to not only roll spell power on Spirit claws but also have additional damage such as lighting bolt. Bloodsail Corsair is the keycard in the early game for this matchup. Put extra emphasis on looking for it in the mulligan because destroying Spirit claws or Jade claws early on can be the swing you need stabilize your early game. Don't play around maelstrom portal if you don't have a hand that suits it. Playing around a card you can't beat only lowers your win percentage in the long run.
I've found mid-range/control shamans to be my worst match up. I'll only win if my opponent doesn't have either maelstrom portal or lightning storm in the top 11 or 12 cards. We also win games when they use those cards suboptimally. Don't queue if you are higher up on ladder and you just finished a game with a shaman. Run from this matchup like it's the bubonic plague. When I do in this matchup it's because I've utilized soul of the forest to create a sticky board that my opponent need 2 aoe cards to clear. Always look to set up a wide board (4+ minions) that you can use soul of the forest on. Then follow up with Savage Roar or other buff cards to seal victories.
Renolock Easy 21-10
Egg druid is simply the reno deck killer. However, Renolock has the best win rate against us out of all of the Reno decks. This is because they have early aoe cards such as demonwrath and hellfire. Always look to play around demonwrath on Turn 3 and hellfire on Turn 4, as these cards will lose us the game. When I lose this matchup it's because my opponent has had an early aoe card when I haven't been able to play around it. Always look to set up a soul of the forest on turn 4 in this matchup. Allowing one or two minions to die to aoe (especially deathrattle ones like Nerubian Egg or Haunted Creeper) while maintaining 2+ is always great for us. You can often win with an early Savage Roar as Renolocks lifetap which lowers their health total.
Pirate Warrior: 31-25 Medium
Look to keep a bloodsail corsair in the mulligan to deal with an early FWA. Dragon Egg/Nerubian Egg are the best cards when buffed in this matchup. They help us maintain board control and force awkward trades when used with Mark of the Wild. On the coin, defender of Argus can also be an acceptable keep because this is one of the matchups where the card excels. Your hand has to support the card though. For example, Dragon Egg, Bloodsail Corsair, Mark of the Lotus, and Defender of Argus would be a full keep. Clear ships Cannon as soon as you possibly can. Also Frothing Berserker is a card that will cause a lot of issues for us as we often have board with small minions. Look to control the board and then push face damage. You'll often stabilize around 10~ health to get the W.

Great Deck!
Any Alternatives for Standard?
try this! https://twitter.com/F2K_J4CKIE/status/808820046378258432
finished my golden Druid running Egg Druid with Patches last season in standard. The wild version looks way better
it's pretty good :)
Patches in druid.... gross.
Hey dude! After playing this deck for around thirty games, I have come to love patches. Because you basically get two minions for the price of one, you have greater flooding potential, not to mention that patches has charge. It also feels SO satisfying to ping off an opponents arcanite reaper.
Don't change anything in the deck. The cards suggested aren't very good. Pirates help go wide and are relevant for the current wild meta.
Use it as AOE protection. Do not replace nerubian egg!
Don't have second Jeeves, Put Lotheb instead.
Seems Good!
I decent replacement for echoing ooze? I wasn't around to play Naxxxramas and I don't really want to drop 800 dust into two cards that are only playable in one deck.
-2 ooze -2 mark of the wild +2 enchanted raven +2 mark of ysharj
Great now wild is full off unoriginal noobs playing this deck.
AWESOME DECK MATE!
thanks fam!
So this is where the flood of Egg Druids came from... up til recently, I was the only one playing it on Wild ladder.
You are one special snowflake.
Any stats against tempo-mage? While i think this deck is nuts, i can see some problems against tempo-mage with this deck.
This deck beats tempo mage ezpz. Only put stats on the relevant meta decks! Play around your egg minions and you'll win 65% of the time.
