This is apDrop's version of an aggressive rogue deck by Backspace . I couldn't find it on here so I thought I'd upload it for everyone. I take no credit for this. Check out apDrop's twitch where a couple days ago he climbed from 7 to legend in one stream with this deck.
BE SURE TO +1
Of course this deck should be altered to fit your metagame. Though for me Blood Knight has been working extremely well. Same goes for King Mukla in combo with Coldlight Oracle for some milling opportunities. Of course you should never go out of your way to mill. I.E Opponent still at 30 life and you have an opportunity to mill with Coldlight Oracle and Shadowstep.
Most of the time you can win the game without even drawing Leeroy Jenkins. [card]Arcane Golem[/card] does the job well enough 90% of the time. You just need to practice learning when to go for face. (which is most of the time)
I will try and keep this updated and if this gets enough votes, I will do a breakdown of the deck and shed some light on each card.
Anyways check out apDrop's stream here. http://www.twitch.tv/apdrop
The original deck without apDrop's modifications. http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/60091-backspace-coldlight-rogue (thanks jottojilok for pointing this out)
no naxx card will work in this deck build
leeroy with wolf rider i think but mukla you can't replace, its very strong card and one of the core cards of this deck
this deck rocks, it has 3 of the strongest cards in this game mukla , leeroy and the blood knight i am not legend player nor i have any ambitions to reach legend i stay around rank 8 or 9 i play 3 or 4 games a day,to be honest when i started this deck at first i was on losing streak but then i reached rank 4 which is the highest i have ever reached,so all and all solid deck
Nice deck!! I enjoy the mix of traditional rogue cards along with some more aggro elements. Definite +1 in my books!
I did have a question though, what are your thoughts on Fan of Knives? I feel like it could provide great removal, plus provide cycling.
Nice deck however in my experience Mukla has been worthless. I swapped in a VC for a blood knight. Unless sap is drawn, very little to be done against taunts/ramp druids.
Any substitutions for Leeroy Jenkins?
Reckless Rocketeer
Wolfrider is a fine replacement.
Not sure if there is a replacement for Mukla, to be honest.
When and if to play him is an important part of this deck. If possible, and it usually is, play Mukla on turn three. Do not mulligan Mukla if he is drawn. Playing him later is usually problematic since the bananas can be used against you right away. Usually playing him no later than turn 6 should be fine.
Now, playing Mukla and then Coldlight Oracle (once or more with Shadowstep) on an opponent with a (nearly) full hand is an excellent way to blow up some cards. There is a cost, but judicious use can be leveraged to compromise your opponent's ability to stop your big burst and getting the cards you need to put it into play.
Several times the opponent has gotten quite upset. Heh. Seeing legendary cards go *POOF* is fun.
What are some good alternatives for Mukla? Dont have him but got everything else :(
Giving this deck a reasonable run this weekend just blew up. Results were nearly all losses.
Still not convinced of the utility of Faerie Dragon, although it does have benefits. This deck has so many good, early plays that adding another seems a bit superfluous.
Swapped out Blood Knight for Edwin VanCleef and results were essentially the same. Sure, a big hitter can be put out there, but by the time it becomes a reasonable play, your opponent likely has the means and ability to neutralize it. That is based on limited experience to be sure. Not many use a significant amount of Divine Shield cards to make it worthwhile. The value of Blood Knight is dubious to me.
The aggressive Rogue decks are not for everyone, and require a decent of amount experience to know how to best play it. Maybe I'll try it again soon to give it second consideration.
Although I haven't ran this deck a lot the times I have ran it i've gotten pretty awesome wins with it, they always had been close but I feel that's how this deck is supposed to run most of the time just barely getting the job done but doing it a lot. I mean don't me wrong I've had some pretty landslide victories but with a deck that doesn't keep board control you have to expect some of the games to end pretty close.
I'm also guessing bloodknight was just simply a meta change for what was happening for him, and is a very good card in ranks 20 - 5 because you do encounter a lot of aggro decks that will run Argent Commanders, and Squires.
So I do encourage you to keep trying it, as hitting face / trading are very important decisions with this deck and should be thought out and planned very well in advanced just takes some getting used to !
I think some of you have misconceptions about what Faerie Dragon is for. It's perfectly sensible that you can't cold blood him and you don't really need too. Cold Blood should be used on something that's going to do immediate damage or hit the opponent multiple times. Argent Squire is probably the best target for cold blood as per the divine shield. Cold Blood is best used when you hope to get more than one hit out of it. Most of the time in the mid game but sometimes early game with squire. Faerie should be played on turn 2 usually unless against a miracle rogue as SI:7 Agent is too good of a counter. Other than that a turn 2 Faerie is amazing. Starting to do a constant 3 damage every turn if they don't have a minion on the board because removal can't be used on it, is awesome. The fact that it can't be Cold Blooded is a minimal factor. It has way too many upsides IMO to be taken out. But of course making your own alterations is perfectly okay, I just thought I'd explain why the Faerie is in there a little more.
EDIT: Thought I'd quote a little snippet from Hearthstone Gamepedia, "The Faerie Dragon's ability can still provide a substantial advantage, in preventing the opponent from removing it using spells. This can be very effective in the early game for preventing the use of early removal spells such as Frostbolt, Shadow Word: Pain and Wrath. If the opponent lacks minions with which to respond, this can allow the Faerie Dragon to deal damage unopposed for several rounds."
Exactly, if Cold Blood is to be used, expect whatever it was used on to disappear next round or two. That's the way it needs to be played.
While the benefits of Faerie Dragon are understood, it just did not seem to be that beneficial in my meta.
But you hit upon it, play Faerie Dragon early for best results (preferably no later than turn 3). It is not there for late game burst.
Would you be so kind as to share your deck list? Like what you've done here. Sounds promising in that it deals with Taunted Giants which usually shut this deck down.
LOL this deck is so fun
Thank you for uploading this deck, I had a lot of fun playing and modifying it. So I'm running -1 Argent +1 Ha Ha! , -2 Faerie Dragon (I don't like not being able to use Cold Blood on them) +2 Mad Bomber (with a little rng get insane value :D) and finally -1 Blood Knight +1 Vanish. I really think Vanish can provide a lot (It is always a suprise play and you will get a lot of rage going on too :) ) where Blood Knight is mostly situational and often just a 3/3 body. I would really like to hear your toughts about these changes. Anyway thanks again joerlandon and apDrop for this very strong and fun deck.
I really like the Faerie Dragons mainly because they can't be backstabbed by Miracle Rogues and targeted by other spells. Taking out Blood Knight is okay because, as you said, it's situational a most of the time a 3/3. I haven't tested Vanish but it sounds like it could be good. The only problem is it may be a bit too late. I'll have to test and try it out :D
I love this deck so far. 6/2 winrate so far (currently rank 7).
Argent Squire + Cold Blood just won me two games against Handlock. First one had to use Soulfire + Mortal Coil to get rid of it, meaning he couldn't get his giants and drakes on the board. Next opponent ignored it, and on the next turn I used Cold Blood again for a 9/1 with shield. He died on turn 5.
I think non-miracle rogues are undervalued. Will give this a go!
