Here is a deck that I have been having fun with climbing ranks. It does very well against aggro and most decks in general. It can usually win on turn 6, but if it doesn't it's done enough damage normally that taunts won't matter and you have enough spell damage to eventually finish them off. With Priests ability to heal(holy fire, nova, hero power) they can usually stall the game long enough to accomplish this. It can also be a great control deck
Is this the best deck in the world? No, but it's a fun way to play a struggling class, and imo one the best ways in the current meta. The reason it does great vs aggro is simply it can out last it has solid AoE options with Holy Nova(especially with thalnos). Mind blast will also punish hero power happy warlocks. Early game, it can easily have an advantage over zoo. Power shield is a one mana card draw that makes your early game minions that much stronger, and with young priestess in there as well it can quickly become too much for zoo. Also consider your healing abilities, Holy Nova, an Smite for controlling the boar and it's a very good matchup for you. It also does well against many other decks. The damage potential is just so fast, and with the high spell damage to face and shadowform being 2 damage every turn it has a strong chance vs a lot of decks and a lot of them just don't have an answer to it. It's hardest matchup right now is freeze mage, and if you're running into them and feel brave, then possibly throw in owl/silence cards to deal with doomsayer.
Mulligan
Pretty much get rid of anything over 4 mana, unless you're potentially playing vs aggro and want to keep a Holy Nova. Never keep mind blasts.
Cards Not To Use
There are definitely ways to mix up this deck(I'm still in the process of changing things as I get closer to #1 rank), but here are cards I would never consider
Light warden- Just way to hard to get value out of. You won't be using your healing power early game. If she had better starting stats I would use her
Northshire Cleric- A staple to priest decks, but not here. You have enough card draw already, and you won't generally be focusing on healing minions. You need to tack on enough damage as possible early game so that they won't be able to do anything about your spell damage power to the face mid-late game
Innerfire/Divine spirit- Too gimmicky and unreliable. This deck is designed to be reliable, and I find these cards to be anything but. I'd rather have minions on the board
Mana Addict- A two drop that doesn't kill two drops. It's a tempting pick because with power shield, smite and mindblast all being low mana spells you can buff her pretty easily, but I'd rather go for reliability
Shadow Words- No need. Taunts aren't that hard to kill off early game, and a removal is not really needed since hopefully you will have done enough damage to the point where taunts don't matter that much
Lightspawn- Again, trying to avoid gimmicks.
Leeroy- Your finishers should be your spells. Leeroy is not all that reliable for this deck
Soulpriest- You already have shadow form(unless you replaced this card with a minion, which is fine), do not run CoH and have enough high mana cards
Card Breakdown
Elven Archer- a one mana fireball. Can be used to finish off minions, trigger your berserker or help reach lethal.
Leper Gnome- Great card for the deck. The unavoidable damage(unless silenced) is fantastic. Normally good for at least 4 damage
Young Priestess- I currently only run. It can be a strong card with the addition of power shield on other minions.
Amani Berseker- I decided to add two to my deck. This card is a strong turn 2 play for priest, is good with power shield and can help remove taunts
Mind Blast- Arguably the most important cards of the deck. With Thalnos as two of them that's 12 damage for 6 mana
Thalnos- A must have for the deck imo. You need that extra card draw, and it makes nova much better at turn 7 and mind blast more potent
Loot Hoarder- Good enough damage and helps with card draw. I only use one
Knife Juggler- A staple in aggro decks. A power shielded Knife Juggler that's getting buffed by young priestess? GG zoo
Blood Knight- I've been seeing a lot of divine shield minions, so I decided to add one for now. Still a solid 3/3 either way. Feel free to replace this card if you see fit.
Shadowform- Here Is a card that I have mixed feelings about the more I play this deck into higher ranks. If it doesn't mess up your tempo, it's a fantastic card to have. The ability to do two to minions or the face past taunts is extremely good. I do now feel that this card can be replaced, but for now I'm going to keep it because I find it to be a lot of fun and at times it wins me games. Plus, it just makes him look badass and it's actually a deck where you can make it work.
Coldlight Oracle- If you really hate this card you can try novice engineer, but this card is a fantastic way to fish for that lethal damage you need at the end of the game. Can also be useful vs miracle rogues or handlocks who have too many cards in their hand
Harvest Golem- Solid card for aggro. I have considered subbing this out for other 3 drops because the damage is lower than some. If you want to sub out a card In this deck, this would probably be it.
Wolf Rider- Great turn 3 play. It's all about fast damage
Dark Iron Dwarf- More fast damage. Helps you get past Senjins or Druids of the Claw
Holy Nova- Their minions will most likely be hurting by the time you play it. A great way to deal with aggro, hit their face and heal yourself
Holy Fire- can be a great finisher(10 damage for 8 mana with mind blast), helps the game last longer and a taunt removal
Azure Drake- Perfect card for the deck. Helps with card draw, spell power and gives you a solid minion on the board
Cards to Consider
Silence- A solid way to keep momentum and ignore taunts
Abusive Sergeant- Not a bad card to add. Helps with your early game damage and getting past taunts
Argent Squire- Solid card. Damage is kind of low. Maybe add one if you want. Can help buff your blood knight
Elven Archer(1)- a one mana mage hero power can definitely find its uses.
Fairie Dragon- A solid 3/2 minion that can’t be targeted by spells or hero powers. The problem with this card is that it also can’t be power shielded
Amani Berserker- A power shielded Berserker can be brutal for the opponent
Bluegil Warrior- Great for early game damage or for helping remove taunts or knife jugglers
Loot Hoarder(1)- If you find that you’re not drawing enough cards in this deck, try adding one of these
Novice Engineer- A possible Oracle replacement, but imo not as good because when I’m fishing for that lethal card late game I’d rather have two chances than one
Pint Sized Summoner- Yes, this card can actually work for this deck. With power shield and young priestess, this card has the potential to win games. I don’t use it though because I find that to be a tad unreliable.
Earthen Ring Farseer- The best replacement for Golems if you choose to do so. It does more damage than a golem and has the potential to heal your minions early game which lets you keep your momentum.
Raging Worgen- A power shielded Worgen can be extremely good. It can also clear their side of the board
Prophet Velen- This card would be fantastic with mind blast. Possibly too slow though. Honestly, I don't even have this card so I've never got to test it out
Anyway, I hope people have fun with newish way to play Priest. It has been very effective for me thus far. Feel free to make any changes you see fit. Again, I am still tweaking the deck while I try and climb ranks. Let me know what changes you come up with and I will test them myself. Feedback is appreciated, and if you enjoy playing this style of Priest then please up vote or comment what you think(I don't mind criticism). Thanks
I really like this deck. it's a lot of fun and it's nice to see a different take on the priest in hearthstone. I was hoping you could post some mulligan guides and strategies against the popular decks in the meta, i.e. in which particular match ups am I to go for the face vs. maintain board control? In what situations is it okay to use my bigger burn (Holy Fire) for creature removal compared to finisher. Just a little advice is all I'm seeking :)
Replying to my own comment here, but have you considered the blademaster? a 4/3 on turn 3 seems like it would fit well in the deck.
If the opponent has taunt you're pretty much screwed with no real removal.
I havne't tried Shadow Madness. I'll check it out
And I'm surprised to hear you've had such bad success vs zoo. That continues to be my strongest matchup. It's more control/heal heavy decks I find myself having trouble against
Agreed. Beating zoo with this is easy, just keep playing minions and eventually they pretty much tap themselves to death and you just mind blast. Only loose to zoo if they get doomguard on turn 5 and i have no good way to kill it or if I get really unlucky and never draw holy nova.
I find Wolf rider solid just for a quick 3 damage to the face or helping remove key minions. I do agree about Young Priestess, but I decided to keep just one more for now because she can be really good at times in it.
And I added one loot hoarder to help with draw. I kind of found that Dire Wolfs weren't all that great without low mana taunt minions. Not a good turn two drop for priest if you didn't play a minion first turn.
I made a decent number of changes. Let me know what you think and I am glad people are enjoying the deck
Have you tried shadow madness? I'm finding it to be pretty good in this deck.
This deck is insanely fun. I have tried allot of variations on it and currently I am having the most success running only 1 Young Priestess, and no Argent Squire. Instead I'am playing 1 Abusive Sergeant, and 1 Amani Breserker.
I agree with you that Shadowform is kinda iffy but when its good its very good so i keep it in.
I think its funny people are saying they have trouble playing this v aggro decks, I find this deck does best v things like zoo its v control that I feel it struggles. I guess I must be playing it different.
Few issues: Young Priestess doesn't add much value before they're destroyed. This deck loses hard to charge-heavy decks and I never got much value off Wolfrider. Suggestions?
