Swapped silence for shadow madness. Wrong move?
What can replace rag? I have all the cards except ragnaros. Really should have crafted that one instead of jaraxxus.
I don't have syl so looking for a replacement, probably sunwalker though, but main question is isn't one of each shadow word death and pain better then just 2 deaths? Or am i in the minority?
Amaz has said several times that he feels pain just doesnt give much value. He has also said that if you dont have sylvanas, you should replace it with argent commander
This deck made me love priest so much! I can't remember if I lost to zoo with this. And I really feel comfortable with being able to control the board so well. Anyway, I feel outmatched by miracle rogues badly. Any advices and strategies on miracle rogue?
Can someone explain why rag over ysera?
Because Rag is more value then Ysera. Overall a Rag will give you more bang for your buck. Ysera gives you cards, Rag gives you raw damage and removal. Often people use up to 2 or 3 cards to get him off the board. Ysera is good, but i think overall rag is a better value, 8/8 for 8 mana that does 8 damage. It's a quad-fecta.
Rag has the ability to give you 2-for-1 or apply pressure to your opponent's face. Ysera is great for all-around control, but the deck already has plenty of board wipes, mid-range minions, and general removal.
In addition to the other comments, I'd like to add that it wouldn't be an Amaz deck without Rag lol.
Plus Rag always seem to do Amaz's bidding, always getting the hit where he wants, so that's another reason.
Played about 60 games.
Struggling against Frost Mages and Hunters. 1-12 against frost, the win was pure luck, thought stole 2 pyros, alexstrasza and an ice block. I don't have exact numbers for hunters but its not much better, loose maybe 80% of the time.
Does very well against Miracle and all Warlock variants in my experience. 1 loss to Miracle and 0 to Locks.
Mirror is pretty much 50/50
Not many match ups against the other classes
Avarisness what rank are you? Im curious how well this deck does around 15-10 ish rank or if it does better between 5-10 or 5-1
A priest with this deck should very rarely lose to a freeze mage, so there are probably some specific things you are doing incorrectly. The freeze mage beats people by playing Alextrasza and then bursting down... but the priest has some very easy ways to deal with that. The main rule for facing a freeze mage is you need to have multiple heals (or a big heal) in your hand after turn 8, as well as a way to remove Alextrasza. Good combos to make sure you have in your hand are:
Shadow Word Death + Holy Fire
(3 attack minion already on board) + Earthen Ring + Holy Fire
Shadow Word Death + Earthen Ring + hero power heal
Shadow word Death + Holy Nova + hero power heal
I could go on... but basically, you want to make sure you have a combo that heals you and kills Alex, which should not be too hard to do, as they don't have many good minions to do damage through the game. Also, save heals for the upcoming turn and even the one after. Don't be too worried about taking damage early game, and you can comfortably stay around 16-20 health usually. Feel free to use Auch Soulpriest early on, as you don't need to worry about healing much before Alex comes (just don't get too low.
The freeze mage should never have enough damage to get through your heals unless he is REALLY lucky. After Alex comes and you use a couple of turn using multiple heals while he tries to burst you down, he will have run out of steam. Also note that you should have made him use some of his spells by pressuring with minions like Injured Blademaster, Soulpriest, Azure Drake, and Wild Pyromancer.
As for hunter, there shouldn't be much issue with them. They usually don't have enough damage to get through your heals and can't use Unleash well because you don't have many minions on the board usually. Don't be afraid on using something like Holy Fire on a small minion, since their damage can add up if you don't have a sweep to kill them soon. Just make sure to heal yourself, and they should run out of steam because their card draw will be very poor unless you let them draw with buzzards and hounds.
Hope that helps.
Loving this deck!
Made one change based on my meta. -1 Earthen Ring Farseer +1 Bloodmage Thalnos . I felt I needed one more way to pull off a 3 damage Holy Nova early and it has been paying off. I also switch Sylvanas Windrunner and The Black Knight back and forth depending on my match ups.
Since I don't have Cabal Shadow Priest and Sylvanas Windrunner I replaced them both with a Sunwalker.
Both a 6 drop minion, and it really works out very well. Loving this deck so far!
On Amaz's stream right now he is using a mind control instead of the cabal shadow priest.
All depends on the meta. Right now, it seems like the deck can handle aggro with Pyro and Soulpriest. Swapping Cabal with a MC helps combat against Druid, Handlock, etc, especially since there isn't many valuable targets for Cabal in those decks.
speaking from personal Priest playing experience, I usually run 2 farseers in my deck, but Amaz is only running 1 and replaced the other with a Cabal Priest. But the general basics are usually the same. Blademaster, Circle of Healing, etc. etc.
There is really only 1 way you can play priest right now. All the good decks are utilizing it, which is why most decks look similar.
Pretty much the same goes for shaman. Some decks you can only play one way to make them useful
