Update (11/20/16): Hit 12 wins in Heroic Brawl with this list!
Hey guys,
There was a request during my stream to include this deck on Hearthpwn as well since it has performed well each time I play it on stream. If you like these non-meta decks and content, please check out my YouTube/Twitch channels below!
The Combo
The full combo does up to 60 damage if you save up all the combo pieces, so with the help of Alexstrasza as well, it can very comfortably take down the armor gain on control warrior. The full 60 damage combo requires Emperor Thaurissan reduction on all combo pieces: 2x Flash Heal, 2x Holy Smite, 2x Mind Blast, Bloodmage Thalnos, Embrace the Shadow, and Prophet Velen. The doubling effect of Prophet Velen takes place after Bloodmage Thalnos spell power +1 such that Flash Heal and Mind Blast do 12 damage each and Holy Smite deals 6 damage each for a total of 4*12 + 6*2 = 60. The majority of the time even against control warrior the full combo is overkill and you are usually fine to use some pieces to help cycle.
Some example gameplay:
Mulligan Guide
vs Control: Heavily favor your card cycle with Northshire Cleric, Loot Hoarder, Acolyte of Pain, Wild Pyromancer to help combo the card draw. Remember that a lot of your card cycle comes from some combination of Northshire Cleric, Wild Pyromancer, and Acolyte of Pain with spells and Circle of Healing. Be careful not to overdraw especially when you leave Acolyte of Pain on board or go double Northshire Cleric. Try to reduce at least 2-3 combo pieces with Emperor Thaurissan and save for more reduction against control warrior. Usually Circle of Healing will be used for card cycle instead of board clear, but this is one of the more critical decisions that you will have to make. Save the single copy of Shadow Word: Death for the big threat when possible. You would rather use minions and even a Auchenai Soulpriest + Flash Heal to clear if you think he has a Ragnaros the Firelord to pressure you.
vs Aggro: Look hard for early game minions and removal like Northshire Cleric, Loot Hoarder, Bloodmage Thalnos, Wild Pyromancer, Holy Smite. Keep the Auchenai Soulpriest and Circle of Healing combo if you have both and often times you will need to save this for board clear rather than cycle. You have a lot of healing available in the deck with Flash Heal, Justicar Trueheart, Prophet Velen, and Alexstrasza, so often times you can just grind out a SMOrc deck. Don't focus so much on saving for the OTK combo and use Wild Pyromancer and Auchenai Soulpriest to keep the board clear. You can eventually knock their health down with your own minions and remaining burst cards. If you struggle against aggro, you can tech out 2x Azure Drake for 2x Excavated Evil but it will hurt your card cycle.
As with any combo deck, the skill cap to playing it correctly is higher than your standard deck so it will take some practice. I think the complexity adds a lot to the game and really helps get players out of this boring *** meta of shamans, druids, hunters, and zoo. Please check out my videos/stream and feel free to ask questions! Best of luck and happy OTKing!
If I'm replacing Harrison Jones is it more important to keep the weapon removal or the card draw aspect of him?
I prefer the card draw aspect so 2nd Azure Drake would be better
Nope, try Ragnaros and another excavated evil
Hey!
What do you think about cutting Justicar Trueheart or other stuff to add The Curator and probably Coldlight Oracle? Seems good even against midrange Shaman
Don't think that coldlight will help you against shaman because you want to grind them out of resources sometimes. You can try a curator build though because of the drakes
Justicar has saved my bacon 2 of the 4 games so far... So I personally like it. But its up to you :)
