With Deathrattle being likely heavily influencing the meta after Naxx comes out, I've decided to create a Anti-Deathrattle Priest that, that can still take advantage of the deathrattle meta. This deck runs 5 different silence cards, including the never used in the current meta, Mass Dispel. I feel like an opponent spamming deathrattles could better be dealt with by mass silence, rather than mass aoe. Obviously this is completely a theorycraft as I can't test this deck yet, and I might find myself wanting a few more spells and thinning down other cards for those.
Since I had a lot of silence, I figured I might as well make the deck feature two cards that are beneficial to silence yourself. Rag, and of course The Beast. With priest having a 0 drop Silence, you can drop The Beast on turn 6, potentially getting a Undertaker you played earlier buffed further, and then silence it, removing it's downside. Now you have a +3/+0 Boulderfist Ogre on turn 6. That just sounds scary and I really want to try that out.
I'm looking forward to getting to try this deck out once the Naxx cards are all out, and I think it could be a fun little deck.
UPDATE!: After seeing this deck on the front page I realized I needed to update it, bad. I've thought more about the deck since making it originally, and this is the version I've currently come to. The addition of Holy Nova and 2 Abominations gives the deck much needed aoe, and Soulpriest gives you a little more control too. The one Cabal Shadow Priest and the two Thoughtsteal add in with the theme of this being a Deathrattle deck to counter Deathrattle decks. You can take your opponent's own Deathrattle's and use them against them, and a little insult to injury. With testing once the set comes out to see if there is room for Circle of Healing, Wild Pyromancers, and other current main Priest cards sure to happen, this deck will likely evolve further. For now though, I like the state that it is in.
I like the idea for this deck but I think the beast is a bad call all around here and a shadow madness would be good...However I think your banking way to much on Baron and to be honest I dont see it paying off that well...The rest of the deck is ok, however no Auch COH combo or wild pyromancer seems odd.
I too had a feeling that Mass Dispel would shine once naxx hits. Usually I run way more spells than that in my priest decks, and what I think this deck will be missing most out of those spells is the aoe they provide. Holy Nova, Wild Pyromancer combos and Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing combos have become a must for us, and while this decks has a ton of minions and silence there is nothing to fill that void.
I would replace the Ancient Watcher with Abomination. They're a strong body, have taunt and bring one more deathrattle to feed the Undertaker. Also, their deathrattle can trigger some of your other minions' deathrattles. Also that single Holy Smite seems out of place. If you're going to only put a single damage spell, I think it should be Holy Nova.
Otherwise, very interesting deck. I will most likely build a variant of it once the meta starts changing.
Yeah I see what you mean. I'm thinking when I build this on Live I'd take the Watchers and the Defenders out, put in 2 Abomination, 1 Holy Nova, 1 Cabal Shadow Priest. Thoughtsteals, Auchenai, Circle of Healing, and Injured Blademaster are all cards I'd think about putting it, but it all depends on the cards we get in the remaining revealed cards, and just how dependent on combos I want the deck to be.
Wut? Cabal Shadow Priest is not a new Naxx card, the new priest card Dark Cultist is in this deck.
I think he just means why aren't you playing it. If this deck is about the deathrattle meta, playing shadow priest to steal a deathrattle creature could be really nice.
Stealing a minion with deathrattle is always better because you also steal the potential deathrattle effect away from your opponent. Even right now, I always try to steal harvest golems with my cabals.
Yeah I honestly see nothing wrong with putting Cabal in here. I made this deck just for fun, not really thinking too hard about what would be best, and since I personally don't have Cabal, it never crossed my mind. When Naxx is released, and we get a chance to fully test cards, I'll take a look to see what cards I find would be best replaced with Cabals, without completely killing the theme I'm going for, because what fun is that.
I've put a bit more thought into this, and there aren't many new potential targets for cabal. At best, you could hope to steal away Baron Rivendare, but that's only if they're using it and if they're not waiting to see you drop your cabal before playing it. Besides that, Shade of Naxxramas will be 3/3 before it can break out of stealth unless you silence it with Mass Dispel first but then it's not worth stealing it anymore. The only other potential targets are Webspinner which will only be in some hunter decks, Undertaker which will probably be too buffed by the time you reach turn 6, and finally Nerubian Egg that I suspect won't be in many decks since you have to go out of your way to have it be killed. So I'm really not so sure anymore about using cabal at all.
Have you thought about Mind Vision to fill that spot? While it doesn't give you as many cards as thoughtsteal, at least you know that your opponent has that card in his hand, so you can play around that information. It's always nice to know that your opponent has a Big Game Hunter in his hand before wasting your Ragnaros.
