Hey everyone,
Nothing fancy about this deck. Just further restating my point from last season that even with the nerf, hunter can be taken to Legend. I mostly played Pirate Warrior down to Rank 3 (with a little hunter here and there) and hit a wall due to poor match-ups. Switched to hunter and went 3 - Legend in a night's worth of play. Hunter is slightly favored against miracle, has a solid zoo match-up, easily beats handlock, and has a much better match-up against the new mid-range ramp druid compared to the old versions with Sunwalker and Ancient of War.
Edit - 6/30 - Power-leveled a friend's account from 3 to Legend in one night with the same deck. Almost everything from 2 down was druid/miracle/zoo and a little handlock. I had about an 80 percent win rate against druids - the deck excels in the current meta and anybody who says different is playing it wrong.
The only change I made to the deck from last season's Legend list was
-1 Ironbeak Owl
+2nd Freezing Trap
Freezing Trap was honestly the MVP. It's so good against miracle and mid-range druid.. even pulled out a few wins against zoo with it. The lack of Ironbeak doesn't matter as much due to the aggro nature of the current meta and the fact that druids play less taunts now.
I didn't stream the climb this time, however I Fraps'd from 1 to Legend which can be found here -

Any questions leave em below!
i don't have any arcrane golem, which card i could use instead ?
Do you think King Muklah has anyplace in this deck?
Hi! I really love your amazing deck! I have a question. Do you think secretkeeper could fit in this deck? I understand that in this aggro comp the sergeant and the gnome are at least 2 dmg, but I have the feeling that secretkeeper could be a really strong card here opening or with coin secret. On the other hand I am trying with Jungle Panther instead the Arcane Golem how TeacH168 says. I really don't like the advantatge you give with the golem, and I think really often you are looking for that beast who give you the 5 dmg for your kill command and it fits really well also with all the traps. The problem is the AOE with it :(
Just started using this deck and man is it good! Thanks for the build!
LuminyaHunter, can you please let me know whether you think it's a good idea to sub Wolfrider with Jungle Panther. It's same mana cost, 4-2 like an arcane golem but no charge but doesn't give them a mana.
Pros: dodge misdirection (they can't attack conceal minions so their minions would always attack their hero's own face or friendly minions guranteed), and help with the killing command. I mean I don't think I've ever had a wolf rider that survived more than 2 turns. ohh yea, starving buzzard card draw too
Cons: obvious flaws is that you can't remove something asap or deal 3 damage to the face. possibly useless panther if they have some sort of spell that kills stealth units too like flame strike, hell fire, etc
I plan on testing Jungle Panthers. I've only played for a few hours so far this season, i'll be picking up this week. I'll let ya know!
I'm on a 12-0 win streak, this deck is fantastic, but its not easy to play, you definitely have to understand quite a few aspects to perform.
Hi Lumiya, i'm starting this new season with your deck (i haven't changed your build) and thanks for all, 'cause i have a lot of fun with him. Since the last couple days i played about 30 games with it (don't have time to play more), and next you will find some reflexions.
Players rushes the ladder and my current metagame (i'm playing on EU server) is 50% aggro (12 zoo + 3 random aggro) and by the way, some other players play control decks (1 priest, 2 paladin, 2 warrior, 2 handlock). the rest was very classic (4 miracle, 3 druid, 1 frost, 1 shaman, 1 hunter)
I have a lot of difficulties versus heavy control decks like priest, paladin and warrior (5 loses of 5) : this is not surprising, the deck doesn't like armor and gain life !!!
I suffer a lot versus zoo (7 defeats and 5 wins). The deck is too slow to counter it. I lose 2 games on 50% unlucky misdirections (2 creatures, 1 attack and doesn't hit the other), explosive can be a game breaker but is not mandatory at all (zoo can easily recover of it ... so should i try to optimize it more, destroy 3+ creatures and don't play it too early ?) and freezing slowed less than expected.
I try to mulligan aggressilvy for traps + the deck lack of reals cheaps counter (bow / kill command cost 3 to kill 1 creature, sergeant and gnome are weak and often killed by coil, UTH is mainly efficient with timber, etc.).
The deck puts a lot of pression but there always a moment when tap made the cut for zoo. Oh and I can kill myself with mulligan when i won dead cards like hunter's mark or a lone buzzard. I'm interested of your mulligan + early game plan strategy versus zoo (with AND without the coin).
Handlock is a good matchup as well as Miracle, Shaman and Frost. Druid is 50-50 (depend of build)
TY !
I destroy Zoo, the problems I have are with druids: http://i.imgur.com/PBD4x79.png small sample size
Currently ranked 12 on the 3rd day of the season
I highly recommend watching my youtube vids and stream to get a feel for how I mulligan and play each individual match-up!
I won't speak over DL but I will say that when I've played against zoo, I typically keep the gnome (to ideally trade with a Flame Imp) and the bow if I have them in my starting hand, then mulligan for explosives/UTH, but of course always mulliganing for Explosive and UTH whatever the other cards may be.
One mistake I found myself making early and often was holding onto my UTH for far too long. Same goes for explosives. Nothing like having a Defender of Argus drop and wreck your day after waiting for turn four just so you can get a charge on your bow. Often it's beneficial to Explosive on turn two (especially if they've played the Juggler) and UTH on three. It seems wasteful but after you wipe the lock's board once it should give you (ideally) the chance at holding the board from then on. Also don't be afraid to use the first bow smack on a Voidwalker--to clear your path.
Have you considered adding in wild pyromancer to combo with hunter's mark?
Quick stats(exact deck listed above) from a small sample (10) at Rank 14 (day 2 of season): http://i.imgur.com/PBD4x79.png
It's something i've considered however i haven't had enough of a problem w/ rush builds to warrant it.
Posted this on the old deck listing by mistake. Wanted to re-post here in opposition of the naysayers:
DLumiya, thanks a helluva lot for the deck, brother. I slugged it through a massive amount of games but just hit legend on the last day of the season. Druids (and the sheer amount of them) really hurt in the top ranks, but it worked out in the end. Great deck, buddy. Cheers!
(I also subbed one Wolf for a Boar for quick taunt removal.)
Congrats man! Glad it worked out for ya (: I ran into a bunch of druids when playing my friend's acct to legend yesterday, ended up with about an 80 percent win rate. The new druid decks just don't have the heavy taunts to pull through.
Wish I had that kinda win rate. When a druid showed up it became a match-long hope that he didn't get the FON/SR combo and that I could simultaneously dispense with alllll the taunts. It got to the point where I was experiencing a special kind of exquisite dread every time I saw Malfurion's stupid pink face show up as an opponent.
That's usually how it used to be for me too. Out of all heroes, I played druid the most yesterday when climbing from 3-Legend on my friend's account. I was also experimenting keeping Freezing Trap in the opening hand regardless of whether or not I had the bow and it worked out really well.
but no seriously... this deck is horrible. congrats on brute forcing your way to legend with this pile of garbage, but i hope nobody else is dumb enough to try. this deck gets demolished by lots of the common decks you find at the higher ranks
You done yet? lol.
Anytime!
