The pre-Gadgetzan deck was a fun beast but wasn't quite competitive enough. Enough board clears destroys the deck, and it has very little creature removal of its own. So... I decided to double down on the endless parade of beefy minions.
You expected something else?
The Dire Wolf Alphas, Finley, one Nightbane Templar and one of the Menagerie Magicians are out; Smuggler's Run, Gadgetzan Outfitter and Burnbristle are in. Pantry Spiders were pretty good at keeping a beast out for Zookeepers to buff, but have less synergy with the Outfitter and Smuggler's Run; I traded out one Pantry Spider for a Tomb Spider. See how that plays.
Will this be more powerful than some kind of bubble paladin deck? I'm not sure, but I look forward to finding out.
I replaced Finley with Tirion, Divine Favor with Solemn Vigil, and the Netherspite Historians with Murloc Warleaders. Doesn't seem that bad.
Also, your hand is typically going to be pretty clogged with minions. Definitely cut Divine Favor in favor of Solemn Vigil.
Divine Favor should be cut for Aldor Peacekeeper. There is already so much card draw without it.
Pantry Spider is just bad. There are much better beasts to add, such as Huge Toad with all of and Stampeding Kodo for removal.
No Tirion? Is that even allowed in a paladin deck?
We'll see. I might yet weaken and cut Sir Finley for Tirion, but right now I'm standing strong with the Menagerie theme.
It could be played that way, but the way I see it the murlocs are mostly there to clog up the board in the early and midgame while you set up your dragon mid to endgame, and to score a cheap and easy extra +1/+1 and +2/+2 from the Zoobots and Magician.
Vilefin Inquisitor Twilight Guardian
I havent got this 2 cards what i can replace
I think the problem with this deck idea is that it tried to fit too many different tribes in one deck. I think 2 tribes is better than squeezing 3 because with 3 you will have more inconsistency with the dragon activators. Maybe dragon and murlocs work, but the beasts need to go. Maybe I'm wrong
I don't think 6 dragons are enough activators
We'll see. I might end up adding Alex or Ysera, but with Netherspite Historian it might be enough. It needs a dragon activator, but also adds more lategame dragons for activations, much in the same way that the Vilefin Inquisitor and Murloc Knights do for Murlocs.
It might work, this is all theory right now. I just think a turn 2 historian with no dragons in hand equals game over. And the activators themselves aren't tribal. I want this deck to work because I want paladin to be decent again. I miss midrange:(
I think the idea behind is good, like a zoo/token deck, but I think that the deck needs also a solid win condition, I like to think that Menagerie Magician can become the next Quartermaster for Paladin, I hope it can work because midrange Pally is my favourite deck of all time!
I do worry that banking on one Menagerie Magician and a pair of Discover cards for an endgame threat is too weak compared to Call of the Wild and Beast Druid's new heavyweight 6-mana minion. Guess we'll have to see.
Where is Brann?
Good question. Tossing out the Knife Juggler leaves the deck a little lean on 2-mana cards, but Brann works so well with so many of the monsters I can't imagine why I didn't think of him.
