Hey there everyone and welcome!

Don't forget to +1 if you enjoyed the guide/decklist. A lot of time and effort went into these and it's a free and easy way to say thank you.

A Little About Me

I am a 17x Legend Player with 2x Top 100 finishes who goes by the battletag WingsOfWax or WingsOfWaxIII on other social media (FacebookTwitter, Tumblr, Twitch, and YouTube). I have over 15+ Years of Magic: The Gathering Experience, but as of the release of Hearthstone: Beta been converted to this new and exciting card game.

Over the past year, I have been creating videos, articles, and casting live streams to help educate newer players about Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. As of right now, I am mostly known in the Hearthpwn.com community for creating a Naxxramas + 2,000 Dust Budget Guide 11 Deck series as well as putting Burst Rogue back into fruition.

These days I am working full time, go to school, and still create Hearthstone content whenever I find my schedule allows it. I love educating all types of players whether new or veterans about becoming a better strategy card gamer. I am creating this guide (and others) to help educate and grow the Hearthstone Community even further.

Introduction to my YouTube Channel:

Warning: This is an aggro deck. It has inconsistencies similar to any other Aggressive strategy and is not exactly straight forward to play. There is a lot (not all) of SMOrc'ing (Face is the Place) to be done, but you will have to plan out your turns according to how your hand is sculpted for optimal plays that leave you in the driver seat. Playing out this deck takes time and practice to fully master and play well, but it can be done and eventually could take you to the Legend status you desire.

Some perks of playing this deck are:

Has a solid matchup against Warriors and Druids while being able to defeat an average draw from Shaman.

Teaches you the value of "Tempo" and board position.

Overall has well rounded matchups between having solid minions and board clears.

Allows you to play a bomb minion (C'Thun) that often time ends the game on the spot.

Card Choices:

2x Arcane Missiles - Combos well with majority of the deck between spell power, Mana Wyrm, and Flamewaker. Versus aggro decks, gives you a chance at clearing early minions. Versus Control is an additional burn spell that helps close out the game or clear minions in a pinch.

2x Mana Wyrm - On par with Tunnel Trogg being one of the two best 1-drops in the game. Synergizes with spells and allows you to gain an early tempo advantage at the start of the game. If left untouched, can easily kill your opponent or trade up for a medium sized minion.

2x Cult Sorcerer - An average 3/2 with 2 extra abilities. There are a lot of spells in this deck that will help buff your C'Thun and/or receive additional spell power. Best 2-drop Mage has to offer.

1x Beckoner of Evil - An optimal turn 2 play that can trade for early minions while having a bonus ability of buffing C'Thun.

1x Acidic Swamp Ooze - Has the option of being a turn 2 play or potentially saved for later to dismantle a weapon. In this current meta, there are plenty of weapons floating around to warrant having at least one copy of a weapon destroyer.

2x Frostbolt - A great removal spell with the additional mechanic of Freeze a character. Burn spells like Frostbolt give you options, you can either kill minion to take away tempo from your opponent or save it for burst damage to finish the game.

2x Arcane Intellect - A late game spell that draws you into more gas. Synergizes with Flamewaker Mana Wyrm, and Cult Sorcerer.

2x Flamewaker - Gives you a solid plan against aggro decks by being able to clear a lot of their board around turn 4-5. Versus control decks Flamewaker adds extra damage and value from your spells.

2x Disciple of C'Thun - Deals with an early minion while helping you progress on board with your own minion. Combos with Brann Bronzebeard by giving you double battlecry (4 damage and +4/+4 to your C'Thun).

1x Brann Bronzebeard - Has a decent body while synergizing with all the C'Thun buffs. Also works with Azure Drake, Faceless Summoner, and C'Thun.

2x Fireball - Best burn spell in the game. 4 mana to deal 6 damage is great at dealing with opposing 4-6 drops or saved for late in the game to kill your opponent.

1x Polymorph - Solid late game removal spell to take out opposing bombs. One feels like the perfect number since on turn 4 you would much rather cast a minion.

1x Water Elemental - Best 4-drop mage has to offer. 4 mana for a 3/6 body is slightly undercosted on top of the additional value of Freezing whatever character it damages. Best used to keep Weapons on lockdown.

2x C'Thun's Chosen - Is a sticky minion that trades well with a lot of opposing minions. 4 power means it is impervious to Priest Shadow Words.

2x Azure Drake - A solid body, spell power, and replaces itself by drawing a card. Is a great turn 5 play or even a late game top deck. Spell power helps synergize with a lot of cards in the deck as well.

2x Faceless Summoner - A great value card that generates tempo and board advantage in 1 card. There are a couple 3-drops that are bad, but most are decent if not spectacular. Try to save Faceless Summoner for after board clears against Control but try to play Faceless as soon as possible against Aggro.

2x Flamestrike - There seems to be enough Aggro floating around that two copies of Flamestrike feel necessary. If you are up against more Control, then try swapping out a Flamestrike for an Ethereal Conjurer.

1x C'Thun - This deck is looking for a finisher and C'Thun is a solid one. C'Thun a lot of the time clears a board or deals lethal damage to your opponent. Is a large and incharge minion to close out the game quickly if left unanswered.

Possible Upgrades/Downgrades:

Upgrades -

-2 Arcane Missiles
+2 Arcane Blast

-1 Flamestrike
+1 Archmage Antonidas

-1 Faceless Summoner
+1 Twin Emperor Vek'lor

-1 Azure Drake
+1 Harrison Jones

Downgrades -

-2 Flamewaker
+2 Twilight Elder

-1 Brann Bronzebeard
+1 Ethereal Conjurer

Honorable Mentions:

Mirror Image - Is a fine card in an Aggro deck or Control strategy. In this deck we are not looking to by time, instead we are seeking minions with both Power and Health to consistently contest the board. We aren't in a race to finish the game, but we also aren't looking for the game to go extremely long.

Sorcerer's Apprentice - There are not enough cheap spells to abuse in this list. If we were less focused on C'Thun and more about being a Tempo Mage deck, I could see Apprentice finding their way in.

Forgotten Torch - We have much better choices for 3-drops. Turn 3 is usually the latest we want a threat on board and Forgotten Torch doesn't help with that.

Ethereal Conjurer - Azure Drake drawing a card is more consistent and majority of the time we'd rather have the 4 Health on the minion rather than 3 Health. Also Azure Drake has the added bonus of Spell Power, which leaves Ethereal Conjurer 2nd best in the 5-drop slot for Mage.

Blizzard - We would rather spend the extra mana to clear more minions with Flamestrike rather than just by time with Blizzard.

Basic Mulligan/Opening Hand Guide:

Understanding the Mulligan Guide - The number represents how many of that card I'm willing to keep in my opening hand. If there is no number, that means there is only one copy of the card and I'm willing to keep it in my opening hand. The number with the coin means how many copies I'm willing to keep with coin in my hand.

How to play the deck and Tips:

When playing C'Thun Tempo Mage, your ideal situation is to have an established board by turn 3. You want to make profitable trades when possible and control the pace of the board. Use your spells to kill minions to protect your own minions. Try to setup combo turns with Cult Sorcerer, Flamewaker, and Brann Bronzebeard to get further ahead (or catch up). Once you are on board and have stabilized, you can then start applying pressure to your opponent's face.

Try to save your more expensive minions until after you have cast your weaker ones.

Versus decks with sweepers, try to have 2-3 minions on board at all times. Versus Warriors with Brawl, try to have 3 minions. Other decks you are aiming to only have 2 minions on board (one weak and one medium/large sized).

Frostbolt can be used to slow down a large minion in hopes of either racing it or to top deck an answer for it.

Versus Control decks, try to hold onto Brann to get C'Thun buff value. Versus Aggro, you want to play Brann before Flamewaker on turn 3 to soak up damage since Flamewaker is better versus aggro decks.

If you are looking for a deck that maximizes your time and is competitive, this is the right deck for you. The deck is also Budget Friendly and can be altered slightly depending on what your collection looks like.

I will do my best to answer each question in the comments about swapping cards, but ultimately use your best judgement when deciding what you can substitute and what you cannot.

Here's to hoping this deck/guide is in some way beneficial to your Grinding Experience! The deck has performed extremely well for me and won games I thought were not possible to do so.

If your looking for a deck to get you out of the lower Ranks, this one will surely do the trick when piloted reasonably well.
