Hey, I am Chinoize and I'm currently playing for team RUZ3.Gaming.
After playing many many games with VLPS' Renolock, I was looking for something new and exciting. After watching Hoej's BlueStack Invitational games on Twitch, I got the idea to play my own version of Demon Renolock. I decided not to run the leeroy combo because Jaraxxus served the same purpose of closing games versus control, with the upside of having less possible dead cards in hand.
SHORT DECK GUIDE:
MULLIGAN Okay, so there's one golden rule: ALWAYS keep Reno. You wanne be rich right?
- HUNTER: Mortal Coil, Zombie Chow, Peddler, Doomsayer, Darkbomb, Owl, Imp Gang boss. Keeping a 4-drop is fine if you already have a decent curve.
- MAGE: Zombie Chow, Darkbomb, Doomsayer, Owl, Imp Gang Boss Again, keeping a 4-drop is fine if you already have a decent curve. This mulligan is based on not knowing what mage archetype you're facing (freeze/tempo etc).
- WARLOCK: Zombie Chow, Darkbomb, Doomsayer, Owl, Imp Gang Boss, Mind control tech. As usual Keeping a 4-drop is fine if you already have a decent curve. This mulligan is based on not knowing what warlock archetype you're facing (zoo/reno etc).
- ROGUE: Darkbomb, Imp Gang Boss, Shredder, Twilight, Voidcaller. You can even consider keeping loatheb on a decent curve, as it's a good counter to a turn 4 violet teacher.
- WARRIOR: Doomsayer, Imp Gang Boss, Hellfire, Shredder, Twilight, Voidcaller, Emperor. This mulligan is based on not knowing what warrior archetype you're facing (patron/control etc).
- PALADIN: Mortal coil, Zombie Chow, Darkbomb, Peddler, Owl, Demonwrath, Imp Gang Boss, Mind control Tech (depends hand), Hellfire. This mulligan is based on not knowing what paladin archetype you're facing (secret/murloc etc).
- PRIEST: Darkbomb, Doomsayer, Shredder, Twilight Dragon, Voidcaller, Emperor. Mulligans for dragon and control priest are almost identical.
-SHAMAN: Mortal Coil, Zombie Chow, Darkbomb, Peddler, Imp Gang Boss, hellfire. Aggressive mulligan for Reno as most of the time it's Reno or Bust BabyRage
-DRUID: Zombie Chow, Darkbomb, Doomsayer, Imp Gang Boss, Shredder, Twilight, Voidcaller. In this matchup you need a good early curve to counter the druid's pressure, but it's certainly doable!
My mulligan guide is focused on ladder play. With some matchups, rogue for example, I don't have enough experience to give completely accurate advice. I don't really keep track of my matches, but personally I think the deck is favored or 50/50 versus most of the decks out there! Only a freeze mage player that knows what he's doing or murlocadin can provide problems. Also, druid in general is a tough matchup.
TECH CHOICES:
Doomsayer: Often provides a sick tempo swing, perfectly played on turn 2 against aggro decks to regain initiative, also very good after an aoe clear to lock down the board.
Mind control Tech: Zoo is a very popular deck and secret paladin is also well represented on ladder. Mind control tech is a very useful tool to prevent the board from snowballing when aoe clears are not at hand!
Kezan: I played this card for an offline tournament where I expected a lot of mages. For ladder, I would probably prefer a sylvanas or black knight (vs druids).
Loateb: Still a very strong card!
Molten Giant: Molten plus Reno is the dream combo. Also it is immensely strong against all the aggro decks on ladder!

The deck is still doing well in this 2 days "nerf-meta", I just made a few replacements and I was wondering if they were ok.
Spellbreaker instead of Ironbeak Owl , because I'm encountering lots of Warriors and the 1 health of the Ironbeak Owl feels very week, especially with the new 3 mana cost.
Sylvanas Windrunner instead of Kezan Mystic; yesterday I was encountering many freeze mages and Kezan won me a few games, but today there are mostly control warrior in my local meta. Plus, having both Spellbreaker and Kezan in hand feels very clunky.
Mountain Giant instead of Molten Giant; this is the most recent change I made, because after many games with the nerfed Molten I realised it's very difficult to play it without a high risk of dying next turn.
EDIT: oh, I just read a comment of chinoize's and it looks like the Giant replacement is good
Get completely wrecked by mages, mechs and others. Can't handle their luck, sadly.
I got 22-22 with this deck, too much aggro around rank 15.
really ? i didn't have much trouble facing aggro with this deck since this deck has many ways to counter it . You should always keep zombie chow , hell fire , imp , reno or mulligan for those .
Great deck. I have not had much time to play this month, started using your deck yesterday. Made one change to your deck, I dropped Zombie Chow for an Acidic Swamp Ooze. Slight negative in the early game but great to destroy all the Weapon shakers. Your deck with this change moved me from 15 to 6 in 2 days of light play, maybe 4 hours. I am a golden warlock, so I know how to work the class, but your deck has been like a warm knife through butter! Thanks for sharing and let me know if you like my minor change.
Got LEGEND with this deck. Rekt all AGGRO FUC$!·%!· BULLSHIT SMORC. 100% win rate vs Secret shittaddin.
Proof of Hearthstats 66'7% overall winrate:

Thanks for sharing this deck.
Pd: kezan mystic win games.
Reno, Jaraxxus, Mal'ganis and Healbot.. how much of a handicap do you need to win a game?? thats like 75+ hp overall, plus immortality.. seriously, it is not that you are doing a great job winning over those aggro decks? its kinda hard for any deck to match this stupid kind of deck?! .. Reno should never have been made.. but well, blizz has to feed the noobs as well.. :-))
Thank you , this deck is so great , i went from rank 18 to 5 in 3 days , i think i lost 5 matches at most :) . The hardest part is againts combo renolock and zoolock if you don't get the right big monster againts combo lock and the AoE againts zoolock , i Found it interesting that if you meet fatigue warrior , just play jeraxxus as soon as possible and it will be an easy win . i keep renolock everytime except vs war and priest . I don't have demon wrath so i put in Ragnaros and it worked very well
Already 1-3 with this deck. No chance vs secret pally. Deck is trash.
Thanks for this great deck. Just got legend with a 60% winrate. Only switched out Kezan Mystic for Sylvanas after a few games. Those were my stats in case someone is interested: Stats
any replacement for Mal'Ganis???
Why no Brann?
Unfortunately not. I have the dust for it but next month he won't be really usable. But it is such a cool card. :-(
Hey man, I played your deck on my stream the other day and I got some pretty decent results out of it! Won all the games I've played with it. Killed both aggro and control. Here's my gameplay:
Just FYI, Jaraxxus is required to win matchups vs. grindy decks. It makes priest, control warrior, and grinder mage more favored. I recommend switching to a combo renolock. Like this one.
Awesome guide, thank you. But I've always wondered how this type of Reno deck compares to the Dreadsteed version. Probably replacing Shredder, Twilight Drake, and maybe Sunfury for 2 Dreadsteed + Rivendare. Then swap in a PO and a Sacrificial Pact somewhere.
Do you think that type of deck can be just as viable if played right? Or do you think the Shredder, Twilight Drake, and Sunfury are too good to give up? Thanks.
I do not have Mal'Ganis :( what should I use in place? :/
Kezana work perfect ) rank 10-6 no loses )
been playing this deck for a couple days and I love it, but I noticed this whole time I accidentally put in rag instead of the molten. Its been so successful I'm afraid to sub it out though
Been crushing ranked all night with this deck. Very flexible. Had some close calls that it pulled me back from a loss for the sweet, sweet win. Great mix!
