In my opinion this is the best deck in Hearthstone for the current Meta, but it is not cheap.
I am currently grinding to Legend on NA server at rank 4 and climbing fast with 9-2 record since deck creation. I know that it is not a very large sample, but I have played every class with this deck and have lost to burst Shaman once and Token Druid once.
This deck just crushes all Aggro and Hunter Decks and it has the ability to outlast other control decks with Ysera.
You will notice that I do not have Alexstrasza in the deck. I started to think in the current meta, by the time I get to play Alex. I have lost all board control or had lost from burst damage. That is where I added the second Abom, and I dropped one acolyte of pain ( I never had time to play 2 acolytes usually anyway)
Mulligan is easy and here is the general priority.
1) Fiery War Axe
2) Armorsmith
3) Cruel Taskmaster
4) Slam or Cleave
5) Whirlwind
I almost never keep shield slam or shield block in my opening hand.
Some awesome combos you can do is faceless HighMane then Spellbreaker the enemy Highmane.
Abom just wrecks UTH combo and even with Hunters Mark. Against hunters I might even Faceless my Abom in case he has silence for the Abom.
Good luck with this deck.
Any suggestions on a replacement for Baron Geddon. Normally, I'd think an Abomination is the obvious replacement but obviously that isn't an option with this deck. Another Acolyte? (I don't have Grom yet either but I'm only a few packs away from getting him.)
I'm not the creator of the deck, but I can offer a few suggestions. Alexstrasza if you have the card might be a good replacement for either Baron Geddon or Grommash Hellscream (but note you're going from 7/8 mana to a 9mana card. That means she won't be played until either turn 9 or 10 (potentially turn 8 if you have the coin) depending on how the game is playing out. Some of these rush decks will end you before turn 9, but she can give you a quick heal if you find yourself low on health. Another great card is Sunwalker to provide you a turn or two to get some minions on the board or add another Wild Pyromancer. It surprises me how many cards opponents will use to get rid of a Wild Pyro. Another suggestion if you're hitting taunt walls is to add in another Spellbreaker.
Hope this helps.
Logged in to say that this deck is great. The draw back I've experienced is that it is sometimes slow. Not drawing Acolyte of Pain early can really set you back, or any other card that provides you with a card Slam, Shield Block. Had a bit of trouble against mages, but the RNGesus was not on my side, so I think it was bad card draws. The mages I did lose against had low health, but I couldn't close the deal. Hunters are a joke with this deck and had no problem with other classes. Great deck!
I'm trying to think of improvements to the deck. Maybe remove one Abomination and add another Slam or another Acolyte of Pain. Really like the Spellbreaker, especially if you're close to lethal with Grommash Hellscream sitting in your hand.
i agree you never get a chance to use it much in surrent meta with most aggro matches ending at or right before turn 7
I had one game against a shaman recently where I would have won with Alex. Otherwise, it has not helped too much.
U sure about gorehowl dawg? Maybe go with Alex, Cairne or something instead? Or even a second faceless, or an Argus. Gorehowl just seems pretty shit in the current meta, its more of a control vs control type of card.
I guess the one thing that gorehowl could be used for is sort of like a turn 7+ finisher, sort of like rag, that you can just yolo attack face with.
I tried to drop gorehowl. I just do not recommend it. I found I really needed to in the worst way. Without Gorehowl you will get crushed in a mirror matchup as well. In addition, not many people running harrison jones at the moment. So, I found it is better to keep it.
Gorehowl cannot be subbed. It is too strong. It has allowed me to setup for lethal or if unlucky draws and I have tons armour, it makes for a great removal weapon.
If there's anything to replace, it would be one of the Abomination's. Or maybe Wild Pyromancer, not sure what I'd sub or it though. Maybe another Acolyte of Pain for the Pyro and keep the 2 aboms.
