Abomination Paladin V.1
What... Why... Does it work?
This is a late game paladin deck that does what late game paladins do best. Stall with life gain and taunts than drop hard to deal with creatures. However, this deck does it a little differently.
What makes this deck unique? Consecration is the board wipe of paladins. So why not add 4 more. Each Abomination is a pseudo consecration (with taunt). When combined with Redemption you get 2 taunts and a 4 damage wipe for each Abomination.
Early Game
Its early game is weakest and to deal with this we have Earthen Ring Farseer,Truesilver Champion, Consecration, Sen'jin Shieldmasta, Hammer of Wrath, and Abomination. These provide some life gain, removal, and taunts to get us to mid - late game.
Mid Game
This is where you begin to stabilize, and fast. You will have a constant stream of taunts and life gain and will almost always have board control. With Aldor Peacekeeper and Humility you will usually be able to deal with any large threats simply by taking away their attack. The Stampeding Kodos can combo with the Aldor Peacekeeper or Humility. At 6 mana you can clear their board with the Equality Consecration combo or play Redemption with an Abomination up for some strange yet effective board clear.
Late Game
Sunwalkers, Guardian of Kings, Baron Geddon, Ragnaros the Firelord, and Alexstrasza are all large threats. Ragnaros the Firelord can win the game on his own, Alexstrasza is super versatile, Sunwalkers buy you tonnes of time, and Baron Geddon is fantastic in this deck. With the life gain you are not usually worried about the 2 damage a turn and with Equality you have another board wipe. Lay on Hands can get you out of a sticky situation and draw you into your win conditions. Just stabilize, get control, and beat in for victory!
Combos
Aldor Peacekeeper/ Humility > Stampeding Kodo
Redemption > Abomination or any taunt
Equality > Consecration/ Baron Geddon/ Abomination
Other Stuff
Just have fun with the deck. Change numbers around and do what you want. I suggest Tirion Fordring and Big Game Hunter, two things I do not yet own.
Yeah this deck definitely struggles hard in the early game. Even with a good draw it's a toss up, the rush deck has to have an average start. Also, I feel this deck is too specific. It seems to lose more often than not against anything that isn't a rush deck. There's not enough early game to force a Miracle Rogue to use their spells and no removal for the Warrior Legendary control deck. Then it's about 50% on other matchups like Druid, Paladins, and Mages.
I'm tinkering around with the curve at the moment. I feel the removal of some late game for a better early game is necessary and would put this at a 50% against aggro. This deck relies on a mediocre start from aggro decks to win those match ups. The main idea of this deck started with abomination + consecration and redemption/ equality. This is only the first version of hopefully many to come :)
Just want to say that I find this deck really interesting. I don't have Rag but I'm making good use of Alex and Geddon. I see how hard it is early game and not sure how to make it better, maybe a minion such as a Doomsayer. Need to have really good draws or it could be too late to catch up. Had a really close game where I won by using the healing from the Truesilver Champion (against hunter). Going to mess around with this base list for a little bit more before changing anything around.
Awesome,
I used to play Magic the Gathering in a competitive scene and I'm relatively new to hearthstone. The deck struggles pretty hard early game. I considered dropping a stampeding kodo and a faceless manipulator for more early game. But just try some different things and see what you get. The game in the end is about fun!
Sublime
Played a couple of games without ERF, Faceless, and Kodos and instead had loot hoarders and acolytes for more draw to get that missing equality, consecration, or early taunt and healing. Low rank so I'm not sure if higher level players will fall for them with redemption. Just got to watch out for hexes and polymorphs so you don't get a frog or sheep back. :( Haven't seen anything get silenced and risen again with the deathrattle or effect so I don't know if they will get it again.
Also, I subbed the humility with a Holy Light. I think Lay on Hands and that is a good burst of healing near the end of the match.
Still waiting for the dream finisher of Geddon blowing up an Abomination which ends up killing the opponent.
