INTRODUCTION
Hey there, I've always liked the idea of Control Rogue & with Reno Jackson in the picture I decided to make my own that matched my usual playstyle of your typical Tempo Rogue. I've revised this deck over the course of almost 100 matches & it came out with satisfying results, now here it is.
GAMEPLAN & MATCHUPS
Most other Reno Rogue decks take care of the board to stall out the game to create space. In this deck we can still play like a control version of Oil Rogue, by taking advantage of the more midgame with cards like Tinker's Sharpsword Oil to threaten your opponent, 1x Sprint to aggressively get a card advantage (also don't have to worry about not having reno(*coughcough* Reno Pally), Jeweled Scarab & Burgle to adjust to the situation & help get some cards to close down into the endgame. The early game is the same as your good old Oil Rogue, with the exception of Zombie Chow which you're all familiar how the match starts out. Overall great against Aggro, Midranged Pally + Druid, Tempo Mage, Freeze Mage,& is pretty decent against Secret Paladin, the tougher matchups are Combo Paladin, Control Warrior, & Hybrid Priest, but compared to Oil Rogue this decklist has more of a chance against Warrior.
MULLIGAN
Backstab, Deadly Poison, Zombie Chow, Jeweled Scarab, Goblin Auto-Barber, SI:7 Agent, Earthen Ring Farseer
Situational Mulligans
Eviscerate: You always want to keep this card with coin or with a low cost spell like Backstab,Deadly Poison, or if you're going second you'll always want to keep this
Fan of Knives: Keep this against Pally, they'll always have muster on turn 3
Reno Jackson: Keep against hyper-aggro decks
REPLACEMENTS
Bloodmage Thalnos: Annoy-o-Tron, Ironbeak Owl, Mind Control Tech
Sylvanas Windrunner: Piloted Sky Golem
Sneed's Old Shredder: Ysera, Anub'arak, Nefarian
Earthen Ring Farseer: Unearthed Raptor, Argent Horserider ( these are just for personal preference )
CARD EXPLANATION
Betrayal: You don't see this card much in general, but it it does wonders in this type of deck. Most opponents don't even bother to play around this card which gives us an advantage over the midgame by efficiently clearing 1 or 2 solid bodies on board for a nice tempo swing
Goblin Auto-Barber: Rogues usually don't have 2 drops & this really helps fill in the gap, also you can get a 2atk weapon which helps since this deck doesn't have much weapon synergy compared to Oil Rogue. Overall a solid card.
Jeweled Scarab: I love this bug. Bad initial stats as a 2 drop, but the outcome of the 3 drops you can get are pretty good
Burgle: I've got to say this card is one of the best cards in the deck, even though its basically rng based, you can get some insane class cards which give this deck a lot of flexibility
Sneed's Old Shredder: I prefer running this over Ysera because its faster & you'll have just enough mana leftover for a low cost card. Another plus about this card is the minions it drops, worst case scenario it drops a Pagle, but usually you'll get a laughably op minion
CHANGELOG
(12/29): Argent Horserider > Earthen Ring Farseer
(12/29): Shiv > Goblin Auto-Barber

I've had a lot of fun with this deck & hope you guys enjoy this deck as much as I do
Why the fuck are people saying this is a good deck? Are you all shit hearthstone players? It's insanely overpowered. Wake the fuck up!
I just googled Reno rogue because i was playing face hunter got him two 1hp turn 6 spammed emotes. Then i saw the light next thing i hear is "We're Going to be Rich" I guess thats what i get.
I'm just here to say that reno rogue is quite the crap. once you lose the ability to clear the board, you're done for. Just fought one and he played reno like 3 or 4 times but he had to play it immediately the turn after that to actually keep surviving.
lol that might have been me, I was playing a reno n'zoth rogue deck I made with 2 shadowsteps, shadowcaster, and xaril in it. And I had a game or two where I used reno 6 times... still lost xD with no way to clear the board. I was playing it around the time you posted this comment.
Any thoughts on Undercity Valiant?
I love most Reno decks. This one is best for rogue variety.
Edit. Gave violet teacher a boot and enlisted a healbot. Also, as much as i like Betrayal concept - traded it with Shadowstep - a MUST in this type of decks.
This deck is perfect and the man who crafted it is a genius, future pro player 100%
Really good deck, sporting a fine 60% winrate with it after ~40 games. I've been running Shiv in place of Bloodmage Thalnos (a common Oil Rogue replacement for Thalnos) and running Sabotage in place of Assassinate.
Sabotage is better against Druid, who usually only has 1 minion on board, overall worse against Paladin but better against Tirion (and Paladins usually aren't a problem for Rogue except for if they get big minions to stick), and amazing against Control Warrior. I've never run into a situation where I said, "Wow, I wish I had an Assassinate here instead of Sabotage." I've always found a way to clear the small stuff then use Sabotage to remove the large threat. All the sticky deathrattles going away in Standard means that Sabotage is going to be even better since there won't be so many random small minions sticking around and messing with the random portion of Sabotage. The deathrattles going away also means that weapons are going to be better since they can actually kill minions instead of killing half a minion, another reason to run Sabotage.
Overall, I recommend putting in Sabotage, if not now then after Standard hits. I predict this will be the number two Rogue deck in Standard, behind Malygos Rogue (assuming no new Rogue archetypes come up after the expansion, which I highly doubt).
EDIT: I totally forgot Sabotage was a GvG card. Oops! It's funny because I laugh at people accidentally including GvG cards in their planned standard decklists then I did the same thing!
Frustrated with a very stale meta right now, I'm thinking of teching this deck for aggro (most common decks I face are Zoolock, Secret Pali, Face Hunter and Tempo Mage), and giving it a concerted try this season. (Last season, I played around with it a few times, but wasn't ever really serious.)
Quick question: did you use this deck again in January or only in the December season?
Also, given that just over a third of the decks I faced last month had secrets (I'm not joking!) , I'm also thinking of subbing in a Kezan Mystic...
You don't really need to tech too hard against aggro. The only big threat on the aggro side is face hunter and sometimes zoo, and all aggro decks lose if you draw Reno. I've seen almost no Face Hunters since the start of LOE anyway, playing in NA. This deck wrecks tempo Mage and Rogue is a natural counter to Paladin.
The breaking point for putting in a tech card (in this case, Kezan Mystic) is if it will go off around 50 percent of the time. Even then, you're just breaking even when stealing a Paladin secret, So I wouldn't include it, at least pre-Standard (I'm predicting a rise in Hunters after Standard hits).
Wow, about 10% of my games have been against face hunter since the release of LOE. I know Tempostorm says it's not viable (and maybe it's not), but I think it will always be a somewhat common deck.
Also, I agree with your Sabotage substitution; regrettably, it will be out of Standard in the near future -along with Kezan Mystic, which actually did help me with this deck. It helped with both Tempo Mage games and Freeze Mage.
Still, I never was all that good with this deck. Rogue is hard to learn. However, if the Spring Expansion gives Rogue a board clear, I'll be back here in a second. So much fun to play.
I rarely play Rogue, but I'm tired of playing Mid-range Hunter. This looks like fun. I suck at it, mind you. But I'll spend some time with it, I think. Thanks!
love this deck thanks
Ysera has good synergy with Reeno. Just get dream and return Reeno to your hand. :D
Sylvanas or bgh replacement???
BGH really doesn't have a replacement. It is a very important card to craft. As for Sylvanas you could use a loatheb or even tomb pillager.
Not so much a replacement but I'm playing Reno Rogue too. It's slightly different from this iteration, one of my changes is including Sabotage.
It's not a translation of BGH but it's great to have in your hand as the game draws out.
Great deck. I did -1 Zombie Chow, -1 Earthen Ring Farseer, -1 Big Game Hunter, +1 Buccaneer, +1 Coldlight Oracle, +1 Maexxna and it's working great. I am 6-1 so far at rank 9. I am only having issues with extreme aggro decks, and not getting Reno soon enough.
Awesome deck, I made a couple replacements just to make things more fun:
-1 Sen'jin Shieldmasta, +1 Elise Starseeker
-1 Sylvanas Windrunner, +1 Trade Prince Gallywix
-1 Sneed's Old Shredder, +1 Anub'arak
Love me some Trade Prince Gallywix!
My other replacements (you absolutely have to include Unearthed Raptor together with Sneed's Old Shredder!
- Goblin Auto Barber +Haunted Creeper
- Earthen Ring Farseer [/card]+ [card]Unearthed Raptor
- Emperor Thaurissan + Trade Prince Gallywix
- Violet Teacher + Loatheb(thinking about Harrison Jonesor Nexus Champion Saraadfor the fun plays ;))
