Update: 1 Other player hit Legend using this build from Rank 3. Congrats!

Hello Mistique here, so I've decided to share the deck I've hit legend with on "December 17, 2015". My own combo priest build that is quite challenging and fun to play. It will be difficult for anyone who has not played a rogue or a type of combo priest before but persistence pays off. The Win Rate recorded from rank 5 to legend was 62%. Hard counters are: Control Warrior, Dragon Priest, & Control Paladin. Favored matches are Aggro Shaman (87% win rate), Reno Warlock (74%), & Face Hunter (79%). Secret paladin hovers at (69% win rate)

Mulligan (In depth coming soon)

With coin: Zombie Chow, Northshire Cleric, Wild Pyromancer, & Velen's Chosen

Without Coin: 2 Zombie Chow, Power Word: Shield

Cards & Replacements

Can Potentially be replaced Cards

  • Zombie Chow: Can be replaced if you seem to be facing more control than Aggro. I wouldn't recommend removing more than one. Possible replacements are Ysera & Sylvanas Windrunner.
  • Northshire Cleric: Priest stable for draw, would not recommend replacing unless you are an expert and can somehow afford to do so.
  • Wild Pyromancer: This card is a personal choice of mine because it syncs well with Acolyte of Pain and helps keep aggro decks at bay, especially aggro shamans. If you are facing more control, you can replace this. I unfortunately cannot recommend a proper card to replace it with until I do testing.
  • Acolyte of Pain: This card can be replaced, my personal playing style is cycling through cards quickly for the combo, however if you prefer to play more control like, you can remove this, recommendation would be Injured Blademaster.

Cannot be replace/Not recommended

  • Shadow Word: Death: Wouldn't recommend, there are times where your Deathlord would die early and you need a removal, especially against combo druid.
  • Prophet Velen: Wouldn't recommend replacing this card at all but if you don't have it, go with a 2nd entomb. Velen is your best friend vs freeze mage, if he's out before their combo, 99.9% of the time you will win.
  • Holy Smite: Staple in the deck, cannot be replaced. Used for OTK or controlling the board.
  • Mind Blast: If you replaced this, what would be the point of this deck?? Irreplaceable.
  • Museum Curator: Irreplaceable, this card gives me a choice of a legendary 80% of the time which allows me to keep pressure on the opponent. Would never replace.
  • Velen's Chosen: Buffs minion by 2/4 and applies spellpower +1. This card synergizes so well with this deck that I wouldn't ever consider replacing it, it especially helps in keeping your Deathlord alive and baiting removals.
  • Deathlord: I only included 2 taunts in this deck because I felt that more is overkill even in this aggro meta. This card can be constantly buffed and healed so it usually lasts long enough to where I don't feel like I need another card. Would not replace.
  • Holy Nova: Would not replace but if you must, only replace 1. This card deals damage and heals your minions. I cannot count how many times I've had Malygos last longer than a turn and have kept clearing their board with 7 damage Holy Nova.
  • Entomb: Puts a minion from your opponents board into your deck, this is hands down the best removal in game. I would carry one at least no matter what priest deck I play. I've only included one in my build here because when I grinded to legend, 4/5 decks were aggro so I did not need a huge removal. Would not replace the only one.
  • Lightbomb: Despite a lot of conflicting opinions, I find lightbomb to be one of the best board clears and it only really has trouble against dragon priests. It works extremely well against warlocks, paladins, and warriors. Would not replace either one.
  • Emperor Thaurissan: This card is crucial in this deck and is not replaceable. Lowers the mana of the cards in your hand by 1 at the end of your turn. Its used for the OTK combo, or to keep board control and bait removals. Would never replace.
  • Justicar Trueheart: The reason this card is in this deck is because of aggro. I've played so much aggro from rank 5 to legend that I would never replace it. 4 health instead of 2 for the rest of the game can be the difference between a win and a loss.
  • Malygos: Irreplaceable. He is a stable in this combo deck and allows an opponent to be killed if they are at 30 health and assuming they have no shields.

Run-Down (By class coming soon)

This deck is meant to counter the rank 5 through legend bracket, it hasn't been tested above or below that as of yet. It has plenty of early drops to deal with the aggro meta we are currently in. If it means getting a board advantage, you should use your smites, contrary to popular belief, you do not have to OTK your opponent. There have been many times I've played Malygos and he survived more than one turn, particularly against aggro and freeze mage. Malygos + 2 Holy Smite + 2 Mind Blast = 34 damage, while pulling this off is nice, sometimes situations don't allow it. There is PLENTY of draw to cycle quickly and Museum Curator is used to keep pressure on your opponent.
