Hey there! I'm Odemian a french pro-player from team Millenium.
I was having a bit of a hard time climbing ladder this season , so I decided to try some whacky stuff with the new LOE cards. It turned out Rafaam was actually not that bad, especially in paladin, which massively lacks burst damage. So I just stuck him in Lifecoach's Highlander Paladin, made a couple of other changes, and voilà!
I got to Legend [2] with the deck on the day of its creation (today :D) and I have to say that Rafaam MASSIVELY carried a couple of games where I felt pretty screwed. The deck behaves superbly well in almost all matchups, and Reno is incredibly OP versus all aggro and midrange decks.
I must repeat that most of the credit for this deck goes to Lifecoach, but I just thought it would be cool to share with you guys a deck where Rafaam actually works. I'll probably be writing a full guide to this deck at some point, but for the moment just try it out, and enjoy ;)
I said 9 out of 10 decks are aggro, that just means 90% of all matches were aggro. That has nothing to do with the total amount of all matches I played. ;-)
Replacement for Tirion Fordring?
Sunwalker maybe?
Ragnaros if you have him.
I Replacement Arch-Thief Rafaam for Deathwing :D
Fun but inefficient deck.
definitely need justicar in here, pressing the button every turn is 2strong
Yeah, maybe -1 Piloted Sky Golem, +1 Justicar Trueheart...
...
You just don't know how to play.
Howdy,
I've been playing a similar Reno deck for about a month - it's currently running 70 wins, against 39 losses, so my advice is to stick with it, and your luck will turn. Despite its similarities with midrange Paladin, the deck really has to be piloted a little differently. You only run 5 minions that are playable on turns 1 and 2, so you should hard mulligan for them. I run Justicar instead of Sky Golem, and I've never tried Kel'Thuzad - it never helps if you are behind. Justicar helps stabilize the board into the late game against midrange and control decks. The Walrus doesn't heal very often against those decks, but is helpful against aggro. MCT is often vanilla when you play it - frequently, you'll have to drop it on turn 3, even though its battlecry won't trigger. I swapped it for Earthen Ring Farseer - it helps with early trading, often healing a minion that would otherwise be lost, and you really need to conserve your board in order to win. ERF always heals, and MCT seldom steals, and I've found it more helpful as a result.
Good luck!
Looking at the list, I see that Lifecoach runs 5 7-drops, and 6 2-drops. I only run 4 7-drops. My seventh 2-drop is Annoy-o-tron. I also run Brewmaster, instead of Ooze; Refreshment Vendor, instead of Shredder; and Harrison Jones instead of Loatheb.
Annoy-o-tron and Vendor help against aggro. Brewmaster helps against control (there are plenty of useful minions to bounce). Harrison is good against all the usual suspects - kill your opponent's Doomhammer, and you have a good chance of drawing into a turn 6 Reno.
Once again, good luck.
I guess it depends on what you are facing - looking at my game log, I've only faced a pair of aggro Shaman in 60 games I've played this month. Everything seems pretty midrange or control, at the moment. Something as simple as Faceless Manipulator might get the job done. In the olden days, Faceless into BGH was a pretty common combo, getting you a 'free' giant, or Rag. If you are seeing as many Renolocks as I am, it might be perfectly viable at the moment. Ysera is also quite good against control, if you want something bigger - it seldom really matters that she is slow vs midrange or control. I play Chromaggus in my Dragon Priest - I've never tried it in my Reno deck, but I imagine you will get pretty good value even if it only triggers once. Again - I'm not quite sure what I would run in a more aggro-intensive metagame. I swapped KT for Annoy-o-tron, and find it perfectly acceptable. As it is, Reno Paladin runs the best 6-7-8-9-10 in the game, so cutting an additional 7+ drop might not be such a big deal - I'm currently trying to 'master' a decision procedure for selecting the best artifact off of Rafaam. It's not always obvious. But all things considered, it's a really fun deck.
Ysera?
I do struggle a lot against control, priest most of all...do you have the same issue? Plus most of the time i lose the joust with tusker and it's really annoying....i was playing against face hunter and i really needed a heal....i got zombie chow and he got owl, so fucking boring :)
Hello
I must tell this is the most fun and good deck when i ever play. Sorry for my english. :)
I start play this deck yesterday 17 rank to 12 today and strike win continue :)
Edit: now 10 and strike continue
If you don't have the dust to craft it I would say boulderfist ogre can work, sunwalker works too
I put faceless in.
hmmmmm...................
Hey guys,
Thank you so much for posting this deck, I have been an avid Hearthstone player since Beta and have never made it past rank 5. I know for some it does not seem like much, but with a few small adjustments to this deck I finally made it today from rank 9 to 5.
I swapped out Acidic Swamp Ooze for Harrison Jones and also swapped out Tuskarr Jouster for Kezan Mystic. I found I was not winning a lot of jousts with Tuskarr and felt that the Mystic would help me finish off Freeze Mage.
I absolutely love this deck and don't even think Arch-Thief Rafaam is entirely necessary as it only really helped me push a Dragon Priest at the end.
Can't wait to push for legendary next month!
I replaced Acidic Swamp Ooze with Annoy-o-Tron to help combat early aggro - seems to be helping a bunch.
I also replaced Arch-Thief Rafaam with Elise Starseeker. It makes the deck a bit quicker, and a bit more fun.
Would a Harrison Jones work over an Acidic Swamp Ooze or no due to the slightly higher mana cost?
