I. INTRODUCTION
Happy holidays to everyone! I am JHUS, a retired MTG player who has been playing Hearthstone since the closed beta. Today I present to you the Naga Hunter. In doing so I would also like to introduce a guide format which I would call the Customize Your Deck (CYD) format. This format will shows options on how to customize the deck to fit the user's wants or needs.
I have been experimenting quite a lot with the new LoE cards and I have come up with this unique deck which utilizes the Naga Sea Witch. It lets you summon a high cost minion for 5 mana such as Alexstrasza. A turn 6 (or 5 with coin) Alexstrasza will almost always be a win. It is also notable that if left on the board, Naga Sea Witch can create wonderful combos such as turn 10 Arch-Thief Rafaam and Discovered artifact combo or Tomb Spider and discovered card like King Krush cast on the same turn, there are just so many possibilities.

Christmas Build - 25 Dec. 2015: If you aim to climb the ladder I suggest you use this build.
II. How to "Customize Your Deck" (CYD)
Core cards > Choose a Playstyle > Choose Your Opening Cards > Tech Cards
1. Add the CORE CARDS. (15 cards)
These are the cards which make the deck work. I would not suggest changing any of these cards because the essence of the deck may be lost in doing so.
2. Choose a Playstyle: (5 cards)
Aggressive:
If you are more inclined to a more aggressive playstyle, add these to the deck.
Defensive:
+1 Hunter's Mark
+2 Wild Pyromancer
+2 Deathlord
*note: use Deathlord with caution.
If you want a more controllish gameplay, then you should add these cards.
3. Choose Your Opening Cards: (8 Cards)
King's Elekk Set:
+2 King's Elekk
+2 Quick Shot
+2 Armored Warhorse or Piloted Shredder
+1 Naga Sea Witch
+1 Ragnaros the Firelord
I would recommend this set if you want to see the full potential of Naga Sea Witch.
Eaglehorn Bow Set:
+2 Traps of your choice (e.g. Bear Trap + Snake Trap)
+2 Jeweled Scarab
+2 Mad Scientist
+2 Eaglehorn Bow
If you want the classic hunter weapon together with the traps, go ahead and add these.
*New* Desert Camel Set:
+2 Webspinner or Injured Kvaldir
+2 Glaivezooka
+2 Desert Camel
+1 Houndmaster
+1 Tundra Rhino or Ram Wrangler or Stranglethorn Tiger
Note: It is important to be aware that Desert Camel will also pull a 1-mana minion from your opponent's deck such as Northshire Cleric or Mana Wyrm so keep this in mind in the mulligan.
This is a new set I have added, use this if you aim for a more beasts.
4. Add Tech Cards: (2 Cards)
Samples:
Sludge Belcher
Ysera
Big Game Hunter
Ironbeak Owl
Sir Finley Mrrgglton
Justicar Trueheart
Sylvanas Windrunner
Dreadscale
Gahz'rilla
Brann Bronzebeard
Antique Healbot
Dark Iron Dwarf
Houndmaster
Leeroy Jenkins
King Krush
Gladiator's Longbow
Flare
Piloted Shredder
*I am going to sort these cards out later.*
These two cards will round up the deck for your own needs.
III. Card Alternatives
Hunter's Mark : Ironbeak Owl or Big Game Hunter
Armored Warhorse : Piloted Shredder
Ragnaros the Firelord : Chromaggus
Alexstrasza : Nefarian
Note: The tech cards are up to you, so if you don't have cards from the suggested pool, you may add cards that you have available.
IV. Videos/Screenshots
Here's a gameplay video made by Khristophesaurus, make sure to subscribe to his channel:
Here's another video courtesy of Xatanael, played at Legend rank:
Here's my buddy Ender#11479 beating StrifeCro with the deck, he used Stranglethorn Tiger as his tech card:
Thank you for your time! Now go and try the deck out. Post your comments and suggestions below. If you liked the deck please do give it a like.
It is christmas time and I would really appreciate gifts such as Battle.Net codes. LOL!
Have fun y'all! Peace.
I am not able to make this deck because I dont have Rag, Alex, Warhorse, Powershot and 2. pyromancer. I was just looking for decks that I can try out my newest addition to my collection (Which is Arch-Thief Rafaam) and I came here. I am here just to compliment about great guide and also you are replying every single comment aswell even stupid ones. I think you deserve an award. Keep up the good work. ThumpsUp
Thank you a lot!
I was getting bored with my midrange hunter so I tried your deck and I found it very fun!
After understanding the mechanics I changed some cards to resist more on early and I could very easily go from level 10 to level 5 losing only one match =)
I glad to have helped you ease the boredom and climb also in the process. :)
I have all the cards in the original set except ragnaros what do you think I could replace him? Btw nice doom blade
You could probably try King Krush, difference with Ragnaros the Firelord is that it suffers combat damage but you could actually choose your target.
Doomblade FTW! The card actually won me my first local tourney way back so it is memorable to me. Hahaha!
Ty and nice
0/5
This deck is not working for me. Sorry but try again.
I just check your profile, it seems like you get 0 wins on most decks even Legend rank or some standard decks. It might be that you would have to improve your mechanics. Keep in mind that a deck is only as good as the player using it. I do hope you get more experienced and check back when you are already better. I suggest using straightforward decks for now such as Secret Paladin.
I love the idea of this deck, but it is not actually work in climbing process(
I played this deck for a while, and was having a lot of fun with the Naga Sea Witch when I suddenly opened Varian Wrynn in a pack. After that I started trying to elaborate a Naga Sea Warrior... Do you think it could be viable?
Would you care tell us why you think the deck sucks so I may be able to help you on which setup to use or maybe you can even help improve the deck. Simply saying that the deck sucks doesnt help anyone. I will be waiting for your response. Have a great day!
Tell us how it goes. Btw, am a bit busy at work so I might not be able to do much testing right now. Good luck! :)
Thanks for your innovative deck.Do you think molten giant is a good inclusion for this deck? I think there are several reasons for running it
1. good cards against aggro
2. You can bring it out with Naga against control
3. always win joust
4. no one play around molten hunter
Thanks for the suggestion, am gonna be testing the giants soon.
Btw, you could add the Molten Giants as your tech cards. :)
I have been using the original version of the deck, and I have to say I simply adore it. Combining Naga Sea Witch with joust is just flat out brilliant, I almost always win the card joust. I love the creativity of the war horse and have gotten tons of lethals thanks to it, especially since it counts as a beast. This deck also makes fantastic use of DeathLord. Deathlord now acts as a form of removal, since I can simply use hunters mark on whatever they draw from it, meaning I can remove a key card beyond their control.
I always dreamed of control hunter, and you sir have made it possible! You have all my praise!
:)
First of all: Great guide. Thanks alot.
Tried the deck... both the offensive and defensive versions. No luck so far. :( 3-10
(maybe too early for a verdict, but it doesn't feel good)
Against aggro decks, I lose the race or can't find a clear.
Against control, I'm too slow and run out of steam. (endless armor warriors, endless heal priests)
Against combo, I'm too low health to survice their combo and don't have mine. :)
And the Naga combo, which is the core of this deck, often doesn't stick to the board on turn 4/5. In 11 games I was never able to actually play some highcost minions for 5 thanks to Naga Sea Witch. Not even once. :/
Maybe i'm just playing it wrong... any hints for me?
Good day to you! I would first like to thank you for testing the deck out. Here are some of my tips to you: First of all, you should keep in mind your win condition for your setup and your target meta to break. Don't expect one setup to beat all decks, I made the deck customizable so it could keep up with fast or slow meta games.
Against aggro meta: (a) defensive playstyle- utilize Deathlord and Wild Pyromancer and you will be fine. Try and look for Powershot or Unleash the Hounds from the Jeweled Scarab. (b) offensive playstyle- against aggro decks, your joust cards such as Armored Warhorse and King's Elekk would easily activate their ability. If you watch the videos, you will see the damage potential of the deck. The "December 25, 2015" ladder build is actually geared in beating aggro decks easily. Remember to tech a Flare or two when you see more and more secret pallies.
Against control meta: The original deck configuration is set to beat midrange-control decks, Naga Sea Witch would be something like your redeeming card when you are almost out of steam. You could also tech in Ysera for slower meta games. You have to be patient on using your limited removals in this sort of games, such as knowing when to use Wild Pyromancer + Hunter's Mark or maybe knowing how to setup a Deathlord + Sylvanas Windrunner steal. The artifact you choose from Arch-Thief Rafaam will also be crucial in this kind of fights, you should be able to assess which artifact would benefit you most. Alexstrasza shines in this kind of matchup also as you can cut their HP to produce a lethal combo via Naga Sea Witch or use early on before they can even draw Justicar Trueheart.
Wow. Thanks a lot for taking the time to further explain this deck and your hints to handle the different metas/play styles.
I'll try it out some more and play with the different configurations, depending on the meta I encounter between rank 8 and hopefully legend. :)
Oh well... now I'm at rank 10. (6-17)
Seems I can't play hunter or I'm never lucky. Back to secret pally / reno wl...
