Heya Pwners,

i'm Caio from EU and before everything i would really say THANKS YOU ALL!!!
When i posted this deck i hadn't expected something similar, it's the first time that one of my decks has a success like this one. I try to post a guide to say thanks to you all, this is the minimum i can do...i scored almost a goal, let me have fun ;)

[Something about me]

Well, you are right, probably this deck isn't nothing revolutionary but i can say that it's funny to play. I have to say that i'm not a pro or an hardcore player and i don't play with the "legend obsession". I like try any kind of idea until i get something that seems to me funny to play and pretty competitive. This is something about me so you can better understand my points of view...as i said "maybe" i'm an atypical player, yep.

I know there are tons of strong players here and also who is much much more skilled then me with Dragon Priest deck and not only, but i just can't be indifferent about what happened with my MadHouse Dragon Priest^^ This community is truly awesome, so curious and hungry about any kind of ideas, we are all mad scientists on heartpwn, i'm glad to be part of something crazy! 

 

 [All about the Deck]

Ok, now let's try to take a look at the decklist. As you can see I would like try to made a Dragon Priest deck + some crazy cards like Shrinkmeister, Shadow Madness and Recombobulator. Maybe nothing new but it's also true that not every Dragon Priest Deck out there run at the same time dragons, Dr. Boom and the "insane trinity" so i thought to give them a chance. 

 

Q: Wait wait wait...why these cards? There are tons of better options dude, come on!

A: this is true Sir, but i think one of the goal of a deck like this is try to make some unexpected plays that your opponent can't guess before and surprise him. I mean...

 

- Shrinkmeister can be used with Cabal Shadow Priest, Shadow Word: Pain, Shadow Madness or just for a nice -2 dmg trade

 

- Shadow Madness works well with Shrinkmeister and Recombobulator. This card can be bastard, you can clear 2 enemy minions at 4 mana cost.

 

- Recombobulator has 2 different way to be used:


1° in combo with Shadow Madness (you can steal an enemy minion and exchange it with Recombobulator, the new minion will fight by your side and at the end of the turn will not come back by your opponent).

2°  on one of your damaged minions after that you used the big boy for a good trade. This can be really awesome and help you a lot in the match, do it on Chromaggus, Dr. Boom, Ysera or even on a 5 mana drop could be very good for you.

Shrinkmeister on Emperor Thaurissan (-2 attack, from 5 to 3) + Shadow Madness (can be used on a 3 or less attack enemy minion) + Recombobulator --> Toshley 

 

 

There are tons of possibility with this mad cards, yeah the RNGesus should help you a bit but it's funny see what will happen...and how your opponent will answer! 

 

Mulligan: Twilight Whelp, Northshire Cleric and Wyrmrest Agent are good minions. Sometimes even keep a Velen's Chosen or a 4+ mana drake (much better if you have a good starting hand that can be played following the mana curve and/or the coin) could be good.

Keep or throw Shadow Word: Pain and Dark Cultist depends even by who are you facing, a fast or slow deck can change your mulligan preferences.

 

Strategy: simplified maybe i could say that you have to put down minions, take and keep the board control asap. Draw, draw much as possible because many cards in hand mean many different answers that you can play, i think that a control deck that is usually slow must have the cards to try to resist vs aggro/rush deck. Buff minions and try to trigger dragon sinergies to get more value from your minions with trades! 

I agree with Evilintent "Out value your opponent and make intelligent trades, and with the added recomboulator and shadow madness your value of trades and out value of opponent become even stronger". 

 

Weaknesses: I have to say that against aggro/fast decks, like every control/slow decks imho, if you don't have a good starting hand or just a bad luck with draw it could be a very hard match up, because when you will have what you need maybe you will be just too behind. But isn't always a pain, don't panic ;) look for example how Khristophesaurus in the video below has played well VS hunter and aggro secret paladin! Honestly i think that every deck works bad if you are unlucky with card draw.

A slow deck can be crushed easily than an fast deck, above all at the beginning of a new season...so handle with care ;)

 

Overview about other cards: there are 2 AoE removals as 1x Holy Nova and 1x Lightbomb to help recover you from a bad position. Dr. Boom is close to you by your side with his bots. Ysera will help you with extra cards in the later turns. 2x Azure Drake, 1x Dragonkin Sorcerer and 2x Twilight Guardian are good cards and even Blackwing Corruptor works well. They all have a good body, good effects and good quality/price ratio imho. They are also drakes, that cant be bad in a dragon deck ;)

Chromaggus can be insane if played properly, it can bring you double cards every time you draw...i really like (of course if the match allowed me do it) save and use a Power Word: Shield on him!

Like said in this comment by edfred91 "I recombobbed my dr boom and got an archamage antonidas, then triggered him with a dream from ysera" so don't be afraid to try something that could seems crazy...maybe it will be the idea that will win the match!

 

Replacements/Sub: Of course, depending on which card you will cut/add, the deck will change much or less. 

Now let me try to help those who want to try this deck but actually are lacking some cards (i point the most asked in the comments in previous days, if need help with something else just ask in the comments below, you will get an answer asap by me or by the community).

If i/we will find any other good substitutes i will try to update this list:

 

- Ysera = Nefarian / Chillmaw

 

- Dr. Boom = Chillmaw / Sylvanas Windrunner

 

- Recombobulator =  Blackwing Technician / 1x Velen's Chosen / Crazed Alchemist

 

Community tip: if you want to try something different you can cut 1x Shadow Word: Death for Vol'jin, thanks to Jones2315  fot this suggestion

 

Don't you like something? Try this!  There are even some nice cards that should works well here but i don't have done any test yet. I'm thinking about Justicar Trueheart, Sylvanas Windrunner, Blackwing Technician and Twilight Drake...maybe could be worth make a try.

I would ask sorry if the deck will not works for everyone, sometime it can happen that a deck that seems strong for others maybe just isn't the deck that's better for you and your play style. We are all different fortunately ;)

Every kind of tip, feedback, critical and everything i saw in the last days has been absolutely useful to learn something, I hope that one day i will be able to make something never seen before!

 

My hope is also that someone can have fun with this MadHouse Dragon Priest or even just use this deck as a tip to build something better...this would be a reward for me!!
