Hello and welcome to my Dragon Control Warrior...
This deck offers a great synergy between Dragon Cards. A big part of the deck (25%) are dragons and guarantee that the combo effects work almost everytime. You usually draw at least one of your dragons in your starting hand or the first few cards.
The strenght of this deck is that you have a lot of answers early game and have an insane late game. Cards like Blackwing Corruptor, Twilight Guardian, Blackwing Technician, Alexstrasza's Champion give you a big advantage early on and you should get to the late game without any problems.
Cards and Explanation:
Some people might wonder where the Armorsmiths, Shield Blocks and Shield Slams are. Well we dont really need them. This deck already has a very strong early game for a control deck.
I felt like that one Cruel Taskmasterwould help this deck a lot. You can use it as a 3rd activator for Grommash Hellscream, on your Acolyte of Pain for extra card draw or just as a removal (Execute activator) or attack buff.
Emperor Thaurissan: At turn 6 you normally have one or two 8+ mana cards in your hand. Thaurissan helps a lot getting you to your late game.
Varian Wrynn: In my opinion one of the best legendarys in this expansion. Draws you three cards and puts creatures into play. This Effect is just insane. If Varian puts cards with battlecry like Alexstrasza into game its not ideal but its still a free 8/8 body.
Card Draw: Your main source of card draw are your Acolytes of Pain but with Ysera, Nefarian, Varian Wrynn and Chromaggus you should never run out of cards.
Replacements: Since many players don't have all the new legendarys that are needed for this deck I will post some suggestion. Feedback and tips are appreciated!
There are many good replacements for some of the legendarys but keep in mind that you should have at least 6 dragons in your deck.
Emperor Thaurissan: There is no real replacement for Thaurissan since it is so good in this high mana cost deck. Sylvannas Windrunner is probably the best replacement.
Chillmaw: second Shieldmaiden or Troggzor the Earthinator
Dr. Boom: One Wargolem and two Wisps are recommended.
Chromaggus, Nefarian, Ysera: Ragnaros the Firelord or Sneed's Old Shredder
Alexstrasza: Must have for this deck. You can use her defensive as well offensive. Maybe Antique Healbot, Shieldmaiden or if you need a dragon Deathwing could replace her.
Varian Wrynn: Ragnaros the Firelord or Sneed's Old Shredder
Mulligans:
- vs Aggressive Decks: Always try to get a Fiery War Axe, Blackwing Technician or Alexstrasza's Champion.
If you have the coin Death's Bite and Twilight Guardian are also fine.
- vs Control Decks: Try to get cards like Acolyte of Pain, Blackwing Technician, Death's Bite and Twilight Guardian.
vs. Shaman you can also keep a Brawl
Oh wow. Seems like somebody downvoted my guide by 12 over night
i want bolf ramshield in the deck what y think ?
Trying this out with 1 brawl instead of sludge ?¿?¿? what do you think ?
There is already a Brawl oO
i know , i want 2 ... what you think ?
I usually run 2 brawls just because shaman and hunters are pretty common in my local meta, but I haven't needed them with this deck. There are tons of removals for 3hp creatures already in the deck, and by using brawl you're kind of negating the decks strength, which is its abundance of creatures. There really aren't a whole lot of "sacrificial" creatures in this deck, and if you loose board control twice you're probably missing some other key element from the deck. Even with argo face decks, alex's champ, twilight guardian and a war axe are usually enough to get me into the mid-game without loosing to much health.
2 Brawls are also fine I think. Tell me how it went :)
If you draw weapons or spells they just go into your hand. I'm glad you like the deck
I traded out Chillmaw for Justicar Trueheart. Without armor smiths and shield block, her ability to give 4 armor a turn is pretty great. Chillmaw is a really powerful card to regain control of the board but I haven't found a need for that power yet, and if I do I'll probably trade out Brawl for Chillmaw.
Trying this out with 2 Azure Drakes instead of 2 Acolyte's.
Tell me how it went, but I think Acolytes are still better with Deaths Bite. Azure Drakes also takes away a 5 mana slot and you rather play Sludge Belcher or Blackwing Corruptor on turn 5.
I prefer the Acolyte's and Death's Bite. You're right, there's too much going on in the 5-mana-slot.
+1 for wargolem and two wisps, i'll try this list out. it looks great!
Can this really control without shield slams? Liking the idea.
