Decided to make a deck based on using Resurrect
Annoy-O-Tron's, Deathlord's, Sen'Jin's to try and slow down the aggro
All resurrect targets in the deck aren't bad even if you get an annoy-o-tron you broke even. Pulling a Northshire Cleric is probably the worst case scenario but sometimes the card draw can be helpful.
Shadow Madness, Holy Nova, and Lightbomb for board clear
Switched from 2 Shadow Word: Pain's and 1 Shadow Word: Death to 2 Death's and 1 Pain to help control bigger minions late game. Seems like the right move.
More time and experimentation with lightbomb needed to determine it's worth. Welcoming any and all feedback
Mulligans?
Typically I search for Northshire, Annoy-O-Tron, Deathlord, or Injured Blademaster in opening hand. These being 8 of the cards in the deck means you will most likely have at least one in your opening hand after mulligan. Depending on the match up Power Word Shield combos well with Cleric and sometimes Annoy-O-Tron since they will usually pop divine shield hoping to kill it next turn and it will throw off their plan.
Resurrect?
Early game it Combo's well with Injured Blademaster's since they come out as 4/7's and early 4/7's are great in all match-ups. Early game vs. aggro is combos great with Deathlord's. Get them to spend removal and resources to remove the 2/8 taunt and follow it up by resurrecting another one for 2 mana. Against control Deathlord's can be a liability if they bring out something you can't deal with and sometimes it feels better to play that game once you have a Shadow Word: Death in your hand. On the flipside though pulling an Alexstraza from one against Freeze Mage can be an instant concede or pulling a Loatheb, Dr.Boom, or any big battlecry minion can help you later in the game when your opponent doesn't have that card to play.
Late game the more we get into playing our big minions the more value we start to see from Resurrect. Pulling Emperor Thaurissan back from the dead is always nice and obviously Ragnaros and Ysera are great too. Dr.Boom is still a 7/7 which isn't bad for 2 mana and Kel'Thuzad coming back can be a game winner if you can leverage that to trade your board knowing they're coming back.
Stalagg and Feugen...really?
Yes really. Goal of this deck was to maximize Resurrect value and that left me looking at the 5 mana slot,. Sludge Belcher's were out since we don't want to possibly resurrect a 1/2 taunt slime. Loatheb is a battle cry so Resurrecting that is just a 5/5. Vol'Jin unfortunately comes back as a 6/2. Azure Drakes don't give you the card draw so that was a no go. That left me with Stalagg and Feugen because their stats aren't bad and they add the possibility of Thaddius and the even crazier possibility of resurrecting Thaddius later. Plus they fill the 5 mana slot.
Snow#11305 on North America if you want to add me!
Where is Twilight's Call?
Hey, there. Was just contemplating my own Resurrect deck; glad to see someone already had Feugen and Stalagg in mind, as they're perfect here.
Just added you and am going to make my own version of this right now. It will just be theorycraft, as I don't own most of the cards in question, but I have a few ideas besides Feugen/Stalagg that you haven't included here.
I know this is a somewhat old deck but I just found it, loving it. I used the exact deck except for dr boom (don't see a reason to craft him since he's got to get nerfed sooner or later). I added the 6/6 legendary trogg as my 7 drop instead. I don't know how good it is but I like the card and its immune to bgh and felt like a more powerful res than dr boom
Great substitution with Troggzor seeings how you could potentially resurrect a Boom Bot which would be less than ideal in most circumstances. Glad you are enjoying it, a good friend of mine has a blast with it too!
0-10 with this deck absolutely one of the most painful HS experiences I have ever had. Literally wrecked by every class and every deck.
The meta has changed a lot no doubt...what were your 10 matchups? Did you track your games?
I am lacking Ysera but switched it with Cairne Bloodhoof and the deck has been working like a charm.
Thanks for sharing this deck.
Carine is a good resurrect target no doubt. I toyed with including him in the original list
i'm just getting rekt by zoo becuase i'm not drawing into holy nova and light bomb soon enough
i added a Wild Pyromancer for Ysera. I'm doing alot better now against Zoo and Paladin.
I have had some blowout wins vs zoo and then other games where I feel like I never stood a chance. I will keep a better eye on the matchup and see if I notice anything in common. How is the wild pyro working out?
As someone with Golden priest and who has tried just about every popular iteration of Priest, whether it be standard control, Chinese priest, or even mech priest, I have to say this deck works surprisingly well. Absolutely crushes aggro decks. I'm beating hunters and zoo decks with like 30 health left over lol. I haven't had that much trouble with mages either, but Pallys give me a hard time. I took out 1 power word shield and added a silence and it seems to help bc I was getting annoyed by Sylvanas, which seems to be in every non-aggro deck.
Awesome compliment coming from someone with golden Priest. Not an easy feat! Love the tech choice of a PW:S for a Silence! What's your opinion on Emperor Thaurissan? I feel like he might be a win more card in a lot of matchups and playing him sometimes can lead to losing board. Thoughts?
.I think he helps in decks like this where you can resurrect him and there's some expensive minions but otherwise I don't love him in other priest decks, unless it's like a super greedy double Mind Control deck with all removal + Ysera, which I've had decent success with, but this deck feels more consistent. I do thing he's replaceable, though, with something like Loatheb.
Tried and too slow, no reliable board clears, once you lose the board you're done in a few turns.
It can feel slow sometime depending if your hand ends up being too heavy in mana cost. I think you have to look at it over the course of many games though. Injuredblade Master, Deathlords, Annoy-o-trons and resurrect gives you some good early game to stick to the board. It's just sometimes you get the draws sometimes you don't and that will be with any deck. Great thing is there are a lot of anti-aggro cards in the deck and a lot of control cards too. It's great beating face hunter/mech mage and then beating a Control Warrior next game.
I currently have 9 wins and 1 loss with this deck in casuals. (2x Grim Patron Warrior, 1x Mech Shaman, 1x Face Hunter, 2x Control priest, 1x Resurrection Priest, 1x Ramp Druid, 1x Paladin, 1x Zoolock). Zoolock went through two Deathlords and Senjin Shieldmaster and killed me at round 5.
I replaced Sylvanas Windrunner with Maexxna and Dr. Boom with Prophet Velen. I know these replacements are bad but I don't have those two cards and I can't afford to craft them at the moment. So far Prophet Velen helped me to win a game vs a Priest and Maexxna forced out a crucial Hex vs a Shaman. Any tips for other replacements? Maybe another Lightbomb for Prophet Velen?
I haven't been able to get Thaddius out yet because every game has been really short (They concede at turn 4-8). Feugen has been running the same function as Injured Blademaster so it hasn't been bad at all. Stalagg has been sucking out Hex and Shadow Word: Death.
I'm a huge fan of both Priest decks and Resurrection. I feel confident taking this deck to rankeds. +1 from me.
Glad you're trying it and having a fun time, that's what matters at the end of the day. Maexxna I think is a good fit just because of the healing available in priest you can get some good value out of her plus resurrecting her isn't bad at all either. Velen seems a little out of place only because we don't seem to be running the spells to make use of the extra damage so much. He is still a strong minion it just sucks he can be Big Game Hunter'd. Do you have Sunwalker or Cairne Bloodhoof? I feel those fit well with the theme and curve of the deck
I don't have Sylvanas and Rag, I replaced them with 2 Sky Golems, is that change good?
Sunwalkers might be worth looking at since they are good resurrect targets. Sky Golems are great if you resurrect them but sometimes you could possibly resurrect the minion they summoned on their first death. Small chance but just something to consider.
