Hi there! I am ForecastWeatherMan! I have been playing Hearthstone since BlizzCon 2014. Here is my basic Priest deck that I think can help newer players.

If you are a higher level player than i am, then i am sure you can find a better deck suited to your play style. But, if you are slightly newer to the game, give this deck a read!

The main aim of this priest deck is to control the board, stay alive, and end the game. You could also say that that is the main aim of Hearthstone. So i will break down for you how this deck does those 3 things i mentioned before.

Controlling the board

Board control is the most important concept in Hearthstone, having it is wonderful, losing it is sad, and fast Hunters are cancer. Those things are certain. For more on hunters, see my fast Hunter deck!

Here are the cards that help you control the board

Ironbeak OwlShadow Word PainWild PyromancerShadow Word DeathInjured BlademasterShadow Madness,Auchenai SoulpriestCircle of HealingHoly Nova,Lightbomb and Mind Control

As you can see from this list, none of these things will look out of place to a standard Priest player. But i will take some time to explain some of the more interesting cards for the newer people like me!

Ironbeak Owl is a great card for early board control, as it can shut down certain cards that have snowballing effects such as Mana Wyrm. It also has great late game applications where you are in a tight situation and you need to push through damage to take a victory.

Wild Pyromancer is another great card for early control. Each time you cast a spell, it does 1 damage to everything on the field. This is great for clearing aggro decks with cards with 1 or 2 hp. Very good if you have The Coin and Power Word: Shield

Auchenai SoulpriestCircle of Healing is a great combo for Mid-game control. It allows you a 4 damage sweep of the board, while turning your hero ability into a damage dealer. It is also more mana efficient than Flamestrike. This is probably best to use when you are behind on the board heading into the mid game.

Staying Alive

Here are some cards that help you stay alive while playing this deck

Annoy-o-TronHoly Nova,Lightbomb and Mind Control

Annoy-o-Tron is a great card to kerb the early aggression of your opponents. Taunt and divine shield make it pretty... annoying to get through!

Lightbombis a great cop-out if your Auchenai SoulpriestCircle of Healing combo didn't work as you intended it to early game. Make sure your opponents minions are lower health than their attack before using. And, if you are clever, make sure your own minions are higher health.

Mind Control This card should really be called Mind ConTroll, due to its ability to single handedly win you the late game. Because this deck has no legendaries, this is a great card to use to steal one in an attempt to win the game.

Ending the Game.

There are plenty of ways you can win the game in Hearthstone. The way this deck does it is attempting to always have answers to what your opponent throws at you, while slowly creeping your advantage on the board. Your hero ability also has great function here in being able to give you that little bit of extra survivability when you use it. Here are some cards that can help you win the game.

Mind Control I have sung the praises of this card before. Stealing useful things from your opponent is fun for you and annoying for them. ^^

Ironbeak Owl This little guy makes his home in almost all of my decks. The ability to silence a late game minion like a Tirion Fordring or Sylvanas Windrunner or  Ragnaros the Firelord tremendous... No, don't do that last one. I tried.

Temple Enforcer This pair of tough guys make your board presence beefier if you use the battlecry, in addition to just being a big body on the board. This is what i use instead of legendaries, until i come up with a better late game plan.

Okay! So that just about wraps up this Priest deck, i wish you the best of luck on the ladder if you choose to build it, and if you have any questions or advice please don't hesitate to let me know!

Until my next deck!

UPDATE 8/10/2015

Hey there, there are no changes deck-wise to this deck as i wanted to give it as a basic starting point for beginner/moderately skilled priest players with a few cards under their belt. Please ask me if you would like some substitution tips.
