Hey guys last night I took this deck from Rank 1 --> Legend, then ended up on a winning streak to Legend #36. This deck has favorable match-ups against Aggro decks and Druid, which is most of the meta. On my stream I surprisingly had a positive win ratio against Rogue so this deck can fight the class as well. This deck slays Warrior.
I do stream and if you want to see me play this deck, please follow me to know when I stream and/or watch the VoDs to see my gameplay. http://www.twitch.tv/taikim13/
The card that everyone asks me about is Youthful Brewmaster. He's mostly in there to re-use my crazy Battlecry effects like Vol'jin, Cabal, and Harrison Jones, or it can be combo'd very well with Shadow Madness. In most control match-ups, taking a Sludge Belcher and bouncing it back to your hand is an extremely strong play that can outright win you the game. It also has a nice interaction with Auchenai Soulpriest where you can do your Auchenai+Circle combo then bounce back the 3/1 Auchenai to re-use it later. It's also a decent 3/2 body against aggro if your hand is subpar. It's a very versatile card that can bounce back a silenced/damaged minion as well.
Also, why no Dark Cultist? I realized that Dark Cultist is not good in this meta because of Piloted Shredder, which every deck runs. Cultist is bad against Druid because of Piloted Shredder and Druid of the Claw. It's ok at best against Mech Mage but it easily dies to Cogmaster+ping. Against Paladin it's a perfect Truesilver target. I decided to cut the card completely because it just doesn't do enough.
Only one Shadow word: death because the meta is mostly Druid+aggro+rogue so Death isn't needed as much anymore.
No shrinkmeister because the card is bad.
If you have any questions about this deck, please ask below!
If this deck receives a lot of upvotes I can make a mulligan guide and etc.
Also, don't be afraid to make your own edits to the deck. I'm constantly changing cards depending on what I face on ladder.
UPDATE: Took out a Sneed's for a Loatheb due to the prevalence of Rogue and the lack of other control decks in the meta.
What about Recombobulator instead of panda?
And what do you think about Shredder in priest as a 4 drop?
Thanks :P
I already run two Light of Naaru's. If you meant what you can replace it with, I can recommend Dark Cultist/Holy Fire/Cabal.
You can replace Vol'jin with any of the cards I mentioned above. However there is no card like Vol'jin so there is no real good replacement for him.
How do you fare against ramp druids? Those innervated 4-attack minions are nigh impossible to remove and can do too much damage before one has enough mana to deal with them.
Blademaster + Circle is an instant win vs. Druid.
Keep and/or mulligan for Auchenai, Blademaster, and Circle.
Auchenai+ Circle deals with shades and shredders so that's good.
I feel like this deck has a good match-up vs Druid as long as they don't have Wild Growth into a perfect curve but what deck does?
Deck looks great and I'm watching some vods of your stream and its looking good. Please keep it up!
Thanks for the support! And will do :)
Haha no problem I'm just starting to stream so I still have minor problems.
I did fix the issue with the lag though so it won't be happening anymore
Oh my god that is actually insane lol.
I think Holy Fire is good but I'm not so sure about Lightbomb.
The meta is full of 2-3, 4-6, and deathrattle creatures so I never really liked Lightbomb.
It's a viable card if Handlock begins to pop out more, though.
Yeah, that is the reason I included Brewmaster in the deck. It combos well with all the battlecries in the deck+ Shadow Madness, and it's just a versatile card for crazy situations like you just mentioned.
I really think Holy Fire is good, but I just didn't have room to put it.
Hi TaikiM13, thanks for sharing this deck! I've been trying (and failing) to make Legend these past couple seasons, running out of steam in the area of Rank 5. I much prefer Arena, but I'd like to make Legend just once in my Hearthstone career as a matter of pride.
I've put in over 50 games with your deck, but am just spinning my wheels in Rank 6 with a 48% win rate. The biggest problems for me are aggro mech Shaman (0-5) and mech mage (3-5). Would love to hear your thoughts on mulligans and general strategy against those two. Thanks!
If you are running into a lot of aggro decks, I would suggest taking out a Sneed's for a Holy Smite/Dark Cultist.
When I got to Rank 36, I ran into a lot of Midrange/Control so Sneed's was a lot better against those match-ups.
Sadly, Mech Shaman/Mage is a match-up where if you open Auchenai+Circle or Pyro+Spells you win, but otherwise you lose.
I always keep Auchenai/Circle/Pyro because once you clear a Mech deck's board and stabilize, you basically win the game.
Also keep Cleric for early board presence and card draw. In the late game, try to keep weak minions in hand to play around Mirror Entity.
But like I said, Auchenai+Circle is the combo that wins you the game against those match-ups.
I also keep Blademaster in mulligan if I open Cleric.
I've been testing the deck and might even consider taking out Sneed's for some early game because this deck's late game is so powerful. This deck is pretty hard to play so keep practicing and once you get the hang of it, Mech decks will be a breeze :)
Don't be so discouraged if you lose against them because you failed to draw any of Auchenai/Circle/Pyro. Those games sometimes happen but over time, Priest should beat those decks just because of Priest's ability to board clear and heal.
I'm actually streaming right now so check me out if you want to see me play the deck!
Not sure how you did so well with this deck as Mage shits on it badly, especially freeze...
Missing Harrison and Sneed's, can afford one of them. Wich one do I craft and what do I replace the other one with?
Looks awesome, would be really fun to try since I mostly play priest. :)
That's a hard question to answer because Harrison and Sneed's are both very good cards with very different effects.
What other decks do you play? I would craft the one that would be most useful to you.
As for replacements, Loatheb, Ysera, or the 2nd Cabal could fit well for one of the legendaries.
best sub for sneed's ? i like the deck.
I would say Ysera, Loatheb, or the 2nd Cabal.
Looks like a good deck. I'm going to give it a shot in rank 3 play.
