A fun and effectve Mid-Range/Control Shaman built around playing cheap spells with Gazlowe and Violet Teacher.

It aims to take control of the board quickly with early removal from Rockbiter WeaponEarth Shock and Powermace, and then maintain board control though the mid-game using the weapon buffs and Lightning Bolts with spell power. Violet Teachers and Gazlowe keep your board and your hand topped up.

Deck Synergies

The deck has great synergy throughout. In the early game, both Annoy-o-Tron and Haunted Creeper work well with the Flametongue Totems. This is compounded in the mid-game by trading off the little 1/1s you get from all the cheap spells you cast with Violet Teacher. You can easily kill a Molten Giant for free using a Flametongue, 2 1/1s and a totem, and it's very hard for your opponent to regain board control once you have a production line of those 1/1s with the spare parts.

Since we have Gazlowe with a possible ten (1) cost spells, there is relatively little need for card draw, and this is satisfied by the two Azure Drakes. Gazlowe also tops up your mech count for use with the Powermace.

Other Key Cards

Toshley is mainly there for the spare parts it gives, alongside a solid 5/7 body. It can be replaced with a high value mid/late game card, anything from the humble Sludge Belcher, to a Piloted Sky Golem or Sylvanas Windrunner. The new Clockwork Knight might fit well into this slot also. Note: Do not run Emperor Thaurissan in this slot; any 1-mana spells that have been reduced in cost to 0-mana will not trigger Gazlowe.

Kel'Thuzad comes in handy in the deck fairly often. Since the most of the minions in the deck have less than 5 attack, it is sometimes necessary to trade a few into a big creature if you haven't drawn your removal spells like Hex or Lightning Bolt. If you drop Kel'Thuzad, then this becomes a non-issue and you can continue to out-value your opponent. KT can be replaced, though, with another late-game value minion like Ragnaros the Firelord, Dr. Boom or perhaps Sneed's Old Shredder to avoid Big Game Hunter.

Possible substitutions

+1 Defender of Argus, -1 Violet Teacher (better vs aggro)
+1 Big Game Hunter or Hex, -1 Lightning Storm (better vs control)

If you don't like running all six (1) cost spells, then adding Clockwork Gnomes (for more aggression) or Zombie Chows (for more control) are good substitutions, too.

I have experimented with running one Antique Healbot instead of a Lightning Storm but found that the healing isn't as necessary as the extra comeback mechanism (especially vs paladin). It is by no means a bad choice in this deck if you want to include one for the extra mech/healing.
