Disclaimer: Rogue is not for the faint of heart. The hands do not generally play themselves and many turns require tough decisions and planning into future turns. If you are not all that familiar with or have never played rogue before please don't expect to pick up this deck and for it to solve all of your problems. I am by no means a master at rogue but I do find rogue to be one of the most rewarding and fun classes to play. Good Luck :).
Intro:
Hey guys, you might remember me from http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/150908-1st-time-legend-apprentice-mech-mage. While this deck is still viable, there are quite a few Mech Mages out on the ladder these days and I've grown a little tired of being one of many. So, last season from rank 5 to top 200 Legend I played this rogue deck!
Rogue has long been one of, if not my favorite, class. I'm only golden in 2 classes, rogue and mage. After taking this rogue to legend last season I'm loving it even more this season, as it does well against a lot of the prominent decks people are using this season so far, such as mech mage, face hunter and mid-range pally.
Card Choices:
Shade of Naxxramas This card plays a major role in this deck. Shade allows this deck to have the damage to finish off Control Warrior which can be a troublesome matchup for similar rogue decks. Shade ensures that you always have a target for Tinkers Oil.
Tinker's Sharpsword Oil x2 Having 2 of these bad boys allows you to close out a game in devastating fashion. Save that sap to remove the only thing stopping you from doing upwards of 20+ damage and you're good to go.
Violet Teacherx2 Amazing synergy with all of the spells in this deck. You can generate 1/1 tokens for days and overwelm apponents who can't remove them.
Gadgetzan Auctioneer This card is not only nostalgic, but brings a body with the card draw, as opposed to running x2 sprint. You need card draw with this deck to bring together your big blade flurry combos.
Fan of Knivesx2 Great card to make those midrange pally's swear along with helping with those Face Hunter scum, and also helps to a lesser degree with zoo and mech mage, usually in correlation with some spell power.
Goblin Auto-Barber Really helps with early tempo, removing pesky early 2 health minions when you don't have your backstab. Typically don't keep this in your opening hand unless against pally or hunter most other classes don't run 2 health minions and this is better served as a mid or late game play to bump up a bladeflurry.
Antique Healbot This card makes up for having one less Farseer in the deck and really allows you to use your health as a resource to gain tempo by using your weapon to trade effciently instead of your minions. Be careful of tanking too much damage vs face hunter but other than that its usually the correct play.
Tech Cards:
Sabotage Not a bad sub if you are seeing a lot of Taunt Druid, Control Warrior and Handlock. In this mech mage meta, not the best option, pretty much dead in that matchup. That being said atleast this is a spell and works well with prep and violet teacher.
The Black Knight One more option to get through those pesky taunts, so handy against Handlock and Taunt Druid.
Big Game Hunter I'd prefer one of the other 2 tech cards above but with all the Dr. Booms running out there you can usually get value out of it and if you are running into a lot of hand locks or control warriors it's not a bad idea.
Feel free to replace the 1 shiv in the deck for any of these tech cards, but don't feel obligated because shiv, although it looks underwelming, is actually quite useful when buffed with spell power and for generating tokens from Violet Teacher or for just cycling to find your combo cards.
Strategy:
The great thing about this deck is that you have a competitive match up with pretty much every deck you face and are even favored against a lot of the popular laddering decks. Just look for opportunties to gain tempo by using prep in conjunction with your many options of removal. With cheap removal like sap and backstab you can remove a minion and play your own. Depending on the matchup you can stall with removal while waiting for the right cards to hit the opponent hard with a Tinker bladefurry combo or slowly chip away at their health with Violet Teacher tokens.
Another great thing about this deck is that there is no target for Big Game Hunter or Black Knight, which are abundant in many of the popular decks out there, so these cards lie dead in your opponents hand, while you take the lead.
Hope this deck helps you navigate the mechy waters of the ladder.
Mulligan Guide:
Control - Mulligan for Shade, Violet Teacher, Prep, keep sprint if you have Prep.
Aggro - Mulligan for Backstab, Si-7, Deadly Poison, can keep blade flurry if you have Poison
Hunter and Pally keep Fan and Prep.
Always assume Mech for mage and Zoo for lock, mulliganing wrong in those matchups will be a quick loss.
Keeping a prep will always help you gain tempo in either match up.
FAQ
What can I replace Thalnos with? A: Kobold Geomancer is the best replacement if you don't have Thalnos.
Game Play Video
Sorry about video quality I don't have the best laptop but I wanted to get some game play video for those who requested. These were taken from games today, luckily I had a good day and went about 7-2 around ranks 4-5 (only 9 days into season and I don't play a lot of volume so if you want legend videos you will need to wait a week or so :)). Also, I'm sure there are misplays so learn from my mistakes and feel free to correct me, I'm always looking to learn. I especially like the druid game cause it shows why this deck can be so awesome!
Combo Druid
Fatigue Mage
Priest
Good Luck! If you enjoy the deck you can check out my stream and catch me laddering with it, and don't forget to "+1" :).

Thanks for this post. I play a slightly different miracle rogue (my current theory is that to beat the meta I have to surprise my opponents) but I really like the effort in making video's and instructions.
Thanks for the comment. Good luck out there :).
Fun deck. has a hard time with aggro unless u get dream hand
What is a good sub for Bloodmage Thalnos. Kobold Geomancer or Loot Hoarder?
Kobold geomancer is a good replacement, the function of thalnos is mainly the spell damage, the card draw is a bonus. Loot hoarder doesnt fit in this deck
personally i think a gadzetan auctioneer is just too slow so i added another sprint to make sur emy preparations get used early with that combo.
You usually only use 1 prep with sprint, you want to be able to use prep for tempo plays and oil so having auctioneer saves you from playing a naked sprint which usually kinda sucks, but if you prefer 2xsprint that can definitely work as well. I feel like the second sprint and 1xauctioneer are interchangeable, mostly personal preference.
Great variant of Tinker Rogue, personally I've been playing with -1 Fan of Knives and +1 Southsea Deckhand for some more additional combo starters and arguably the best possible Oil target you can play. People rarely see it coming for some reason and you just get to vomit damage right in their face. I'm also playing an Assassin's Blade currently over Autobarber which you can generally get away with as very few lists are playing Harrison Jones as of now and it helps you break down decks like Control Warrior which otherwise can just heal out of range of your damage.
Props again on the deck, sir.
Thanks, I like your variation. Good luck out there.
I know this might sound silly but what do you mulligan vs another rogue?
Preparation, Violet Teacher, SI:7 Agent, and Deadly Poison. Deadly to remove his early 3 drops. Teacher and prep to get that tempo rolling. Keep Prep and Sprint if you have both. Also ok to keep backstab Si7 combo.
I wonder if playing the Trade Prince Gallywix with this deck would work well. It would give you a good amount of spells to use but it gives them a coin.
Trade Prince is good against druid and is a good body. I think he is a little too slow for this build, better in a control variant. That being said, never say never. Give it a try and let us know.
I tried it in a few matches and never could get it out there to do any real good. I did grab 2 fire balls off of a mage but still got beat pretty handedly.
Thanks for letting us know. I've actually been trying 1xKezan Mystic to help with mech mage and hunter match ups and it has been performing well for me.
I beat 5 mech mages in a row!! great deck! i kept sabotage instead of earthen ring
Hey TheRealHavoc, I hope you answer this but I'm curious to whether you can sub out sabotage for big game hunter as I don't have a sabotage. Is sabotage an essential card that I need to save up for or not?
Sabotage is by no means essential. Lately I've subbed back in the shiv for the sabotage, You can definitely use big game hunter in that slot,
Thanx so much for quick reply!!! This deck is absolutely amazing, got up to rank 5 and have immediately fallen in love with it haha :)
Can I ask why you haven't included Southsea Deckhand as a finisher? I been running a very similar deck with one and I don't think I could live without it. Tried your version for a few games and I just couldn't finish off some games due to the lack of burst.
Then again I'm not exactly the best player out there haha.
