This is a deck concept suggested by a viewer. It's core is "every card in the game that messes with your opponents spells". To fulfill this gimmick most effectively I chose mage due to the Wee Spellstopper as well as its Spellbender and Counterspell secrets. This resulted in the deck evolving into an "Archmage" concept, the idea being "your spells suck, mine are the best". You've got some strong starting minions in there, a bunch of Troggs which will make your opponent think twice about playing spells, which combos really well with the secrets. There's some strong damage spells in there since you dont necessarily have huge damage dealers on the board and a sprinkling of control stuff and card draw, along with Unstable Portal as a wildcard to spice up the game. It's best played by trying to anticipate when your opponent is going to play spells and carefully using your secrets and placing your Troggs so they gain the maximum benefit from it. It's a fun little gimmick that so far has faired well up to Rank 15 and I imagine its going to go even higher.
Generally loses to deathrattle hunter and struggles against handlock due to lack of hard removal for big guys and no silence. Had great success against Paladins, Rogues and other mages.
worst deck in mage history
gets crushed by every single aggro/mech deck.
no shit, its a gimmick deck. It's not supposed to be good
well why is it up with 131+'s...nor was it mentioned as such, this is just your opinion.
I dont have the naxxramus to get the spectral knight so does anyone have any suggestions on what to change it with
I think if I were in this situation I'd go with Azure Drake, it adds card draw and spell damage which could come in handy in this deck.
Seems like Lorewalker Cho would be a fitting minion for this deck.
This deck is afraid of weapons.May I add Acidic Swamp Ooze or Harrison Jones?
This is fun. Thanks for sharing.
Edit: had to share the results of my first game...
This is pretty great, it was cool to get to see you use it in action.
Might sub out Troggzor just because I don't have it yet, still hoarding dust to craft a GvG legendary.
Who do you think Cynicalbrit is moron?
I like this. It's kind of like a "fuck mages" deck. I love it.
I found this deck while looking for a way to use Wee Spellstopper. I had no idea Total Biscuit made it until I saw the video. @A@
I <3 Secrets Mage, especially mages with Spellbender, and yes I also have 1x Wee Spellstopper to turn things into Faerie Dragons/Spectral Knights, in my deck I have Molten Giants as a comeback mechanic or to turn them also in Spectral Knight-ish as a possible effect, on top of Spellbender and Counterspell...
As far as I can see, the only problem with having actual Spectral Knights in your deck I suppose would be against Priest and their Shrinkmeister + Cabal combo, and Wee Spellstopper's general weakness is also against Cabal Shadowpriest, aside from any "usual/obvious direct spell".
Edit #1: 1 Polymorph is pretty risky... especially neither my deck nor this above deck has BGH inclusive
Edit #2: Not to self-advertise, I have a very much similar idea as to your above Deck Paragraph. My deck basically changed from Full Secrets Mage, towards GvG's Troggzor + Spellbender + Wee Spellstopper as well :) http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/142952-wee-ss-giant
I tried this deck and I think we are kind of trying to do 2 things at once. the same way we don't want to add Loatheb . All the cards that can't be targeted by spells or hero power (Faerie Dragon Spectral Knight etc) fill your opponent's hand with spell cards, and the only places to play it are on the minions you want to grow. if they can't play their spells, your Trogg will not grow. You want to punish the opponent for playing spells, not block him for playing any.
1) I like this deck that enhances and brings back how "well" you time your secrets... like before Mad Scientists ever existed.
2) Aside from hoping to time both those Secrets (together or one-of) right before Troggzor
3) How much Counterspell will be "countered" by other spells, Loatheb helps to counter other spells on certain turns, for example, the Druid's FoN_Roar Combo
4) I'm not too sure about your statements of "wanting your opponent to cast spells" to buff... even though "anti-direct spell creatures"., Spectral Knight brings a lot of attention by Equality alone (especially in Arena), and then you would also have to hope that no one plays Faceless Manipulator (but now that some decks brought back Kel Thuzad) since Mages' already have a hard time not being able to Fireball a Spectral Knight, Facelessing one from an opponent would be turn some tides, unless you have enough creatures to beat "Doppleganger" creature(s). Or even thoughtstolen, unless you counterspell that card, then again your 2 counterspells would have to be superbly timed...
... also Shrinkmeister + Cabal combo that I mentioned in my lone paragraph... Spectral Knight or Twilight Drakes or even Ysera... are the best for that Priest GvG combo (if people still play with Shrinkmeister)
Blocking with Loatheb is more of a counter against "deadly combos" like Druid or Rogue's current Blade Flurry burst... we're not going to be holding 1 Counterspell like Cruel Taskmaster #2 for Grommash (that ResidentSleeper combo) right?
yeah i play with 1 frostbolt, 1 flame cannon as my choice of "low-cost control"
I don't buy the no loatheb argument about encouraging the opponent to cast spells. They will cast spells only if not casting it is worse. Using loatheb and forcing them to only have one choice in not casting spells is strictly better than giving them any choice at all.
A better argument is worrying about Loatheb being a dead card in hand. This shouldn't happen since he's a solid 5/5.
Yo bro wheres the Lorewalker Cho Millhouse Manastorm combo?
this deck is super fun to play even when losing lol.
GvG has made more interesting things but not many people play with Spellbender, i am glad to see more decks getting +'s with "not just the meta Secrets" that are like "not actually Secrets"
