Despite the spot Warrior is currently in, I've managed to come up with a strong tempo deck!
So far, I've managed to achieve Rank 1 with the deck! Although, it took me several iterations before finding the ideal deck list—totaling about 60 games.

About the deck:
You want to play on curve and build tempo with Rush minions and Woodcutter's Axe buff. Sometimes, you may even want to attack immediately after playing Woodcutter's Axe to activate it's deathrattle the following turn.
Cool trick: Woodcutter's Axe's buff works on minions given Rush by Goblin Lackey from Improve Morale.
Darius Crowley is similar to Edwin VanCleef in that he can just outright snowball the game! Against aggro, this guy turns into a monster and is a huge pain to remove.
Zilliax can magnetize with Eternium Rover and Clockwork Goblin, as well as get buffed by Woodcutter's Axe. This is very strong, especially against aggro.
Play your bomb cards, Clockwork Goblin and Wrenchcalibur, to build up bombs for Blastmaster Boom. If you have Blastmaster in hand, it's usually worth to prioritize creating bombs for an **explosive** turn 7.
Your big finisher is the classic Grommash Hellscream. Activating his enrage can be done with Improve Morale, Slam or Warpath.
Edit: Replaced 1 Rabid Worgen with SN1P-SN4P as recommended by Kiwiinbacon and commenters.
Edit 2: Replaced 1 Improve Morale with Omega Assembly to refill hand and provide something more substantial than a Lackey. Also provides additional Mech synergy.
Matchups:
- Mulligan for Execute, early game minions, Woodcutter's Axe and Kor'kron Elite.
- You want to build tempo and dominate the board ASAP.
- If you can answer their big guys like Mountain Giant, you will easily win.
- Mulligan for Eternium Rover, Town Crier, Woodcutter's Axe, Rabid Worgen, Improve Morale and Warpath.
- With a good curve, you can out-tempo Druid and maintain control.
- Make sure to keep their board under control by trading or using spells.
- Be smart with Warpath. This card is valuable vs Token.
- Mulligan for Eternium Rover, Town Crier, Woodcutter's Axe, Rabid Worgen, Improve Morale and Warpath. If you get a nice hand, you can also keep Zilliax.
- Mech Hunter is a very common matchup and counters Warrior. However, you have a better chance to win as tempo warrior than other variants.
- Build tempo early and make sure to remove their board, Goblin Bomb included.
- Try to fit in as many hero powers as you can, although don't kill your tempo for it.
- Keep an Execute for their AoE + Poison combo.
- Mulligan for early drops like Eternium Rover, Town Crier, Woodcutter's Axe and Rabid Worgen.
- Wrenchcalibur and Militia Commander are good answers for SI:7 Agent and EVIL Miscreant, respectively.
- This matchup is about who can get the most tempo. However, as a Warrior, you have the advantage. Once you stabilize, Rogue is pretty much done for.
- Be aware of their insanely high burst with Leeroy Jenkins and various Spirit of the Shark combos.
- Mulligan for Town Crier, Kor'kron Elite, Clockwork Goblin and Wrenchcalibur. If you have bombs to play, you can sometimes keep Blastmaster Boom for a tempo 7 turn! Grommash Hellscream may also be kept.
- Warrior is one of the hardest matchups because they can stabilize and wait for you to run out of steam. Additionally, Archivist Elysiana can cancel out all bombs you create!
- You're essentially on a timer. You really need to build tempo and play bomb cards so you can finish him off early. Later on, Warrior will be out of lethal range and stabilize with Dr. Boom, Mad Genius and Archivist Elysiana.
- Mulligan for Town Crier, Eternium Rover, Woodcutter's Axe, Rabid Worgen and Warpath. If you're hand is bad, Slam can be a good answer for Murloc Tidecaller.
- Despite the variety of Shaman decks, you still want to mulligan as if it's Aggro Shaman.
- For any Shaman, you want to minimize their Spirit of the Frog value.
- Against Control Shaman, you're on a timer and need to kill them fast! Be mindful of Walking Fountain, Witch's Brew, Hagatha's Scheme and Hagatha the Witch.
- Aggressive Shaman decks like Murloc are more manageable. Just build tempo and be smart with Warpath, making sure to play around Bloodlust.
Yesterday I had to face 8 Mech Hunters (at around rank 7) in a row and lost to all of them, sometimes very badly. If I don't have a good start they'll overpower me soon with their buffed up mechs (they'll nearly always have something to magnetize on board) because of running a much more aggressive curve. And due to the fact that Mech Hunter is by far the most popular deck I think Tempo Warrior isn't a good choice for now.
Great Deck Rank 10 - 5 with 75% win-rate. I kept 2 improve morale, because I think it is better for the spirit of tempo! A lot of times I top deck Grommash and had an improve morale to win the game. It also builds momentum early on. I had a few games where eternium rover or town crier traded a 2 health minion on turn two ( because of improve morale) and then got a lackey out ( which can also get 2 damage to trigger Grommash). Omega assembly is too slow for me in this deck.
Toughest decks for me were control warrior, mech paladin and secret paladin. Thankfully didn't face them too much.
Thank you!
I love this deck! I made some changes because I was missing a few cards and also there were a couple that I didn't really like...
I replaced:
improved morale for a second omega assembly, rapid worgen and 2nd town crier (didn't have dust otherwise would use that) for 2 acolytes, and lastly added Dr. Boom Mad Genius for Darius Crowley.
I find the deck lacked draw even with the double shield block and double slam. My first match, I was stuck in a top deck war with a mech hunter and knew immediately that the deck needed more card draw. Acolytes might be a little slow. I might try out loot hoarder instead but with two warpaths, acolyte seemed like a good idea. I don't feel like improved morale is that good because the lackey won't really do much... yes it's an execute activator and generates a 1/1 with a battlecry but 2 omega assembly's is just great; whether you get 3 cards at 10 mana or discover one midgame. It improves the mech synergy and gives you more opportunities to hit a rush minion. Dr. Boom Mad Genius is really a card that should be in any warrior deck. Even though I don't have Darius, I still believe Dr. Boom is better... you can gain massive tempo when your mechs have rush and you get to choose from a great set of hero powers. The warrior hero power doesn't do much in a tempo deck except maybe fight against aggro, but if you're trying to fit the armor up in every turn then you are probably behind on board and just trying to stay alive.
Besides those few things, I love the idea of the deck! It takes the core bomb warrior, switches some things around and turns it into a quicker midrange deck which I truly missed from the old tempo dragon warrior days
I've played with a more aggressive tempo Bomb Warrior build with Frothing Berserkers and a few other tweaks and the build does work nicely. I encourage others to try this list and fine-tune it to your play style.
You'll be happy to know that a lot of folks are copying this deck. I've run into it three or four times and haven't seen it posted anywhere else, so I guess that's always flattering.
Have to try this. I enjoyed tempo-warri a lot.
Nice guide btw. ;)
This deck looks like hot trash lol scared to tank my rank trying it. Does it really work? Rank 3 atm
No Dr. Boom hero card is a huge red flag for me
Yay, another player who got bored of the Warrior snorefests! I can't say how much I missed Grom saying "I can trade no longer!" SMOrc Clap
I've been working on a comparable deck but it never felt viable. After the release of Witchwood I went for full Rush Warrior but that doesn't work when your opponent just sits there, doing nothing. From then I lost count how many times I tinkered with the deck but it was mainly a minion-based Tempo deck at any point. Unfortunately, in the current meta that means a single Brawl is likely to ruin your day as there is no comeback mechanism. When Festeroot Hulk got announced I thought it might be the missing piece for the deck to shine. But I had to realize it's just too slow so I went slightly away from the board-centric style of play. Recently I opened Blastmaster Boom and now the deck is performing as I always wanted it to be: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1277893-ros-berserker-rage
As you can see there are a few differences. First off, I refused to run it for a long time but I had to admit that it feels wrong to deny yourself the value of Dr. Boom, Mad Genius. You need to have an alternative route in case your opponent survives the initial onslaught, there's no Scourgelord Garrosh anymore and the regular heropower doesn't help you at all. As for Shield Block and Slam, I prefer to run Battle Rage since it's really easy to draw multiple cards off it (e.g. play Crystallizer on t1 and you'll be almost guaranteed two cards at least). I'm not sure if Execute is necessary since Conjurer Mage is a pretty bad match up anyway but I might give it a try. But what I'm really missing is Frothing Berserker. The card is such a powerhouse, I can't even imagine how to use the deck without it. It's not that uncommon to meet an unsuspecting opponent going wide only for you to play Warpath the next turn for a nice 10++ damage to the face :) Big thumbs up for deviating from the overwhelming power of snore!
Oh, and Akali, the Rhino is just terrible. It pains me to say it but the card won't see any daylight unless its mana cost is decreased. It cannot compete with Grommash Hellscream, rarely survives a trade unless Spirit of the Rhino is up and only draws you another piece to compete for board control. At 7 or 6 mana it might become useful (hello Amani War Bear) but for now it's just not worth it, at least when it comes to Tempo Warrior. What are your thoughts about SN1P-SN4P?
Really like this deck! Improve Morale is surprisingly good. I agree with the other comments, SN1P-SN4P for Rabid Worgen is stronger, as Rabid Worgen seems like the weakest card in the deck. SN1P-SN4P makes your Zilliax and Clockwork Goblin much better.
What could I replace Crowley with? Don't have him and I can only craft one legendary right now :p
Adding SN1P-SN4P for 1 Rabid Worgen like kiwii and the Deck is great. 3:3 at the moment but I had real bad card draw the first games. Let's see how the next games will end :)
what an Insanely poweful deck! This is easily one of my favorite warrior decks and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to climb seriously this month. I had a ton of fun so I made a video showcasing the deck in all of its glory, I hope you all enjoy!
Here we go again.
Yeah.. again trying to get some attention and subs
this is the only way for him to promote his channel tho, he sees he has no alternatives so he abuses this :p (sad but trueee)
No Snip Snap?
Why not Frothing Berserker instead of Shield Block ? It seems like you don't have synergy with armor anyway and berseker can snowball quickly.
This deck lack of card draw, you can cut Shield Block bu that doesn't mean you will not use it on your favour
how about acolyte of pain instead?
Just my thought, Acolyte is by far worse compared to shield block.
Shield block is very good everytime, while acolyte is very slow if you are not a control deck
