New expansion, new meta, new offmeta paladin deck to beat the meta :)
DISCLAIMER: different version / minion setup (15.4.2019) - reached LEGEND today :)
due to the recent shift in the meta ( less warriors, more rogues / token druid, hunter , zoolock ) I had to make some changes and reinclude Concecration + Mountaing Giants instead of Big Bad Archmage. My older version which shine vs different metas can be found at the bottom of the guide.
Why Mountain Giants vs Big Bad Archmade? Big Bad Archmage are dead cards in your hand until turn10. Mountain giants cost 0 mana via prismatic lens and due to our expensive mana curve we have enough cards in hand to play him on turn 5/6 while the rest of our minions need 7+ mana. Overall he is just more flexible vs aggro/midrange/control because he enters the game earlier than Big Bad ARchmage and he wins more duels! especially vs other giants which see play in aggro decks ( sea giant) and control ( mountain giant)
Mysterious Big Paladin
The goal of my decklist is similar to the good old big priest decks which used only 1x 4 drop (Barnes) + big minions. Instead of Barnes I use Archmage Vagoth who can recast Prismatic Lens / Duel! for the big tempo swings and even the cheaper spells like Desperate Measures and Call to Adventure can generate insane value.
Early match plan
Truesilver Champion + Mysterious Blade + Secrets + Time Out / Flash of Light are used to survive until turn 4/5 and Call to Adventure on turn3 can guarantee us a turn4 4/8 Archmage Vagoth in many of our games and even after drawing Archmage Vagoth it is a nice card for drawing a buffed Zilliax.
Midgame/Lategame
Prismatic Lens is an insane card if you build your deck around it. Cheap spells + expensive minions is one way to get value out of this card and therfor I decided to play only 4+ mana minions and cheap spells/weapons to handle the early game, risky but since Equality costs 4 I wanted to try a deck without Pyromancer. Prismatlic lens always hits some great minions, especially when Archmage Vargoth is already on board/ in your hand and sometimes it is not as bad as it looks if some of your cheap spells get more expensive because every spell redcuses Shirvallah's mana cost.
The minions of my choice are sticky, generate value at end of turn or are have rush/lifegain as instant response to threatening board states.
Tirion Fordring: is one of the best minions in the game. His weapon helps us to push for lethal damage or control the board, great Redemption target.
Ysera: was always an autoinclude in the good old control paladin days and I am happy to play her again. Her end of turn trigger + body stats are great in combination with Duel! or Prismatic Lens discount
Big Bad Archmage: He survives most of the Duels! and needs to be answered asap or you generate too much value. There are hardly any bad 6 drops in the current standard format.
Batterhead at the first glance this card looks bad but he is a great minion vs aggro/midrange and functions as a board clear. In combination with Lightforged Blessing he can be used as huge life gain.
Shirvallah, the Tiger and Zilliax help to regain life and control the board state. Shirvallah + Prismatic Lens results in a 0 mana Shirvallah early on!Archivist Elysiana is the worst target for Duel! but her extra cards are crucial in some matchups because once we start tutoring via Duel! / Prismatic Lens we run out of cards really fast. (update: due to the lack of warrior we don'T need to outgirnd dr.boom, not playing her in our list makes our Duel! much more better)Baron Geddon is only in the deck for Lifelink + aniti aggro/midrange. great card :)Oondasta: great body + rush, can pull out Shirvallah or Amani War Bear for extra rush minions.
Amani War Bear: only in this decklist because of Oondasta. decent blocker/rush minions, survives most of the Duel! fights and can attack an additional time.
Try it out, sadly it is rly expensive to craft but it is fun to play and wins :)

Nice deck list! I have been playing with a similar deck since launch, but with more secrets and more mechs.
I found that Noble Sacrifice can really help against aggro. So if aggro is still bothering you, I would recommend swapping 1 or 2 Desperate Measures for Noble Sacrifice.
With duel and lens you want minions that can protect you straight away = rush (just perfect for duel), big taunt minions, sth that explodes on death rattle.
Problem with big paladin is that until turn 5, in most of the cases you draw cards. You can't fit in pyromancer because it ruins your gameplan so you need to find a source of AOE. Another problem is khadgar mage and control warrior - they will outvalue this deck. Khadgar mage even out-tempo with giants.
I'm currently at rank 7 with these changes:
Cut big bad archmages, whole secret package, ysera, vargoth and swap them for:
1x flash of light (or 1x blessing of wisdom as an early game removal), 1x paladin ice block (sometimes you just need to but one more turn untill powerturn), 2x tunnel blaster (insane with lightforge and you need aoe), 1x witchwood grizzly, 1x lightforge blessing (for me it's neverending reno in this deck), 1x burly shovelfist (op with duel), Archivist Elysiana (you will lose fatigue match ups without her), 2x shrinking ray (without this you're never getting back on board when things go wrong).
Another idea is to cut flash of lights for 2x blessing of wisdom (good synergy with rush minions and some kind of early game removal) and 1x time out for humility (good tempo tool which this deck lacks). I think this variant provides more defense and makes the deck better but I've done too little testing with that option.
Gameplan: draw cards until turn 4. On 4 you'll often times have to make a decision whether to clear board with cons or truesilver champion or use lens. Usually, it's better to go for "ramp" ASAP with lenses as there are no spells with cost highher than 5, so on 5 you should always be able to play sth big. All you want to do is to explode on turn 5. If you won't have a power turn on t5 then it's often gg against midrange/aggro/tempo or other BIG decks.
In later stages of the game, you're looking for opportunities to combo lightforge with minions for massive HP gains. Stall the game and if it's not enough you play Archivist Elysiana. Just don't wait until your deck is empty. Play it when your deck becomes garbage and you still have control over the board.
nice deck!! i made one that look atlot alike, but insted of Big Bad Archmage i run Damaged Stegotron x2 and Kangor's Endless Army
you should try it out its very strong
Hi, I want to get this deck successful too. If you still experiment with it may be you can try Autodef matrix instead of desperate measures. Redemption+Matrix is quite good when you start to play minions only on 4 - Vargoth can survive and Zilliax gets very sticky. Measures can give you noble sac that can eat redemption (or give something else). Also I dont know if Oondasta is good when you have no beasts in hand. Can try that 7-mana girl who summons beasts, she is better vs warriors imo.
Autodefense Matrix is bad against rogue, they will just kill you with spells and battlecries.
Having a lot of fun playing this deck. Not extremely well...but fun none the less. I still need a lot of practice with this style of play.
I actually ran in to a lot of Warriors (about 7/10 games tonight) using "Bomb" cards and noticed a strange interaction with Prismatic Lens. If you draw a Bomb with PL, whatever minion you draw won't swap its mana cost with it.
This deck... is actually pretty alright!
But suffers quite a lot against aggro if you don't get a decent hand.
It's also quite fun.
Here's something I have noticed that may be a good advice, for this deck and in general: If you are running Elysiana and you are minus 10 cards and have already drawn all your big guy, playing her early is a good idea.
100% agree but it rly depends o nhte meta you are facing. i upgraded the list few minutes ago. running again consecration and i swapped elysiana out even though i like her but i face 50% rogues @ rank2 and the rest are token druids. elysiana was rly good vs warrior but they disappeared from my current meta.
in the end the deck theme is flexible enough to swap out few minions/spells depending on the decks you are facing :) it does not break the meta but it is fun to play and there is always hope via duel! to hit the jackpot if the game seems lost.
I changed this deck a bit. Got a perfect deck now ! I have like [10-2] with this deck.

I puted Bull Dozer to synergy with Zilliax when you put it on duel.
Linecracker is good when you get him in duel. Double dmg boyz !
Why did i put Shrink Ray instead Equality? Because most decks got like treand druids, dragon pala, silence priest and other high adm combo decks are pain in the ass so to play safe is Shrink Ray a good choice imo.
one Batterhead can be change with another Shrink Ray or other cards to survive longer.
Thanks to let me finish this deck on my way.
Anyone know if this deck is worth crafting to climb? I really like big minion decks such as Big Priest last season till it got rotated and this deck seems pretty close to it. I only have around 14k dust so I can really only craft one expensive deck. Anyone who’s played it know if it’s worth it to craft this early or wait till the meta settles? Thanks
think it is always the best choice to wait few days/weeks until the meta settles if you lack dust/cards. my deck is very good vs midrange but vulnerable vs very aggressive decks /greedy control decks who play giants or other big minions ( malygos.. ). atm midrange dominates in my faced meta
my deck is not the most competive one but a blast of fun to play. i went 21-3 with my original decklist from rank10 to rank5 on day1 ( lot of midrange decks) and today i went 8-1 form rank5 to rank3 with my latest decklist but i know sometimes you will be stuck with 50% winrate without progress or the rng from prismatic lens/ duel! fucks you up similar to big priest when you pull Barnes.
Ahhh okay thanks, I’ll wait a couple weeks till the meta settles down. I’d love to play this deck though, seems extremely fun :D
I really want to love this deck but I keep getting burned by Duel!. Maybe I just have really crappy luck.
here are some replays from my last
69 games (8-1) -rank4rank3.. still experimenting. this list runs no consec/shrink ray but more 1 drops to make prismatic lens better + humility as "single target removal"AAECAZ8FCvoGognA/QKggAO9hgPshgObigPWmQOKmgOGnQMKjAHPBtYG/PwC2IwD+ZMDkJoDtJsDhpwDg6ADAA==

maybe this helps to see how i navigate my deck
The new version has become my favourite deck this expansion! Amazing job!
hahaha new version is even better
Damn it. I crafted Ysera just to run this deck.
hey! try this one, thats the
latest list(already outdates lol ) i use. nothing wrong with using yera ;) you just need to fine tune your minion setup if you feel that you lose control of the game vs your current meta decks. sometimes playing more taunts instead of ysera might be the righ choice but now i feel i need her extra cards to close some games + ocnsecration / shirnk ray vs my current meta### Big Pala Beast

Yeah ... it feels like this deck needs Shrink Ray and Consecration. It lacks an ability to take your opponent's big minions off the board. I don't know what to do about the slow starts, however. So often I'm twiddling my thumbs until round 4 or 5.
I was struggling on day 2 with random decks, this deck brought back my confidence on day 3. Thanks for posting it...
