Introduction:

Hello, my name is Fedayn and i play on the EU server. After reaching legendary Rank in S4 with Druid, S5 with Hunter, i recently got to legendary Rank with this Warrior Deck.

Important note: I am aware of the fact that this deck is not innovative and that there are a lot of similar decks around there. However this is the way i played it to legendary  with a roughly 65% win rate and i hope to make your time reading this still usefull by adding strategies and descriptions.
I did choose the titlte "Forever Legend" because i am quite sure the meta game has setteld down till new cards will be introduced and till then ... i gurantee you legendary rank with this deck.

General Playstyle:

  • Fight for Boardcontroll: I know this sounds obvious as nearly all decks want to achieve this but unlike priests or shamans we dont have any effective board clears beside one Brawl. You want to mostly kill minions with your weapons to achieve this goal.
  • Get to the Late Game: This is a late game deck, and there probably one of the strongest. To get there we have some tools like 4 weapons to kill minions and Unstable Ghoul along with the very sticky and life gaining Armorsmith.
  • Smart Card Draw:  This deck has a lot of expensive card where you rarely play multiple cards at once. However a smart use of Acolyte of Pain is a key for many succesful games. Use it behind an Unstable Ghoul or after the second Death's Bitehit.

Muligan Strategies:

Here are the first good news. The muligans are nearly always the same and so easy to play. You are always looking for Fiery War Axe, Unstable GhoulArmorsmith and your Cruel Taskmaster. If you have one of the 2 Mana drops, prefarable your Axe, then you kann keep your Acolyte of Pain for that early card draw.  Against Zoo and Hunter also keep an eye out for your Cleave.
If you know that you are facing a Druid or a Handlock you may also keep one of your Execute as a removal for their early big plays.

Card Choices:

Beside the standard warrior cards there are quite a few cards which leave you open for other replacments if you wish. In this chapter i will try to explain why pick up process:

Cleave:  This is the slot where other decks are running a Slam or a Whirlwind. I played in a kinda aggro (Hunter) heavy enviroment and so i found Cleave superior to the others. If you face more controll oriented decks, you may switch over to a Slam.

Cairne Bloodhoof [/card]: Recently people are complaining that the card is too slow to fight aggro decks and are playing a [card]Baron Geddon instead. I do disagree here, its an amazin stick card. Often baiting out an early heavy removal wich saves your later turns.

The Black Knight: There are more and more warrior decks out there which dont include TBK, so i added him to the discussion section. In an enviroment where nearly every decks runs two Sludge Belcher  i cannot understand how you could leave him out. It´s also a must against Handlock and Ramp Druids, keep this guy!

Ragnaros the Firelord:In this slot you can either play the RNG God or Ysera. After i lot of testing i deciede to stay with Rag. Yes, the RNG factor can be annyoing but Rag has won me a lot of games just on his own. However i see Ysera also working in this slot, so its your personal choice.

Harrison Jones Thats the slot where normally the Faceless Manipulator. On my road to legend i face a lot of Hunters and quite a few Warriors why i swapped this guy in. Popping two hunter secrets followed by HJ is quite some fun. However if you face less weapon users you may get back the Manipulator. Other possible good replacements for this slot: Big Game Hunter or even a 2nd Spellbreaker

Spellbreaker: This guy took the place of the second Cruel Taskmaster. I played a lot without him but after all i really think the deck needs at least one silence. The one missing Taskmaster does not hurt.

Match Up Strategies:

Note: This are my personal experiences from Rank 6 to Legend on the EU server.

Hunter (A+ Match Up)

We are highly favoured in this match up. The only way of loosing is a lucky "out of controll" undertaker play our a very bad card draw. Fiery War Axe is godly in the start. Actually its a straight forward play: Weapon away his minions while developing your board an armoring up. Activate his secrets before playing a Harrison Jones. Keep in mind that hunters can have an insane burst later in the game with bow+kill command+UTH and so on, so if i am below 15 health i nearly always used my Alex defensivly. You have enough damage anyway.

Priest - Death Rattle (A+ Matchup)

Equally to hunter. I would say even better. You can loose to a lucky "out of controll" undertaker here as well, and this is even harder to remove. If you can make to midgame to you have one. This priest deck has hardly any answers (no silence, mostly only 1 SW:D) for your big stuff.

Warlock Zoo (B MatchUp)

Similar to Hunter, we are really favoured in this one. However it found it more difficult because the Warlock never runs out of steam.  Just always battle hard for board controll, if you can reach later stages of the game your legendaries will finish the job. If you can try to keep an Execute  for his Doomguard

Druid Tempo (B Match Up)

I am ranking et equally to Zoo and play style is identically as well.

Priest Controll (C+ Match Up)

In generall i´m having good results against this deck, but its definatly getting harder. Dont blindly toss your Armorsmith or your Ghoul right away on the board, otherwise the Priest can get loads of cards with his cleric. Usually the Priest will have a hard time to remove all your big creatures, however i have the feeling that Thoughtsteal is really deciding the game. I have seen Priest getting 4 legendarys from my own deck with this. So it can get very one sided as well.

 Warlock Handlock (C MatchUp)

If you know it´s a Handlock your Execute and your Spellbreaker are cards you want to keep. If you can get enough armor at the start you can even Shield Slam a giant away. Fight for board controll and keep the Warlock at about 15-16 health till you have an overwhelming board (and a TBK for the late game removal), then go for the kill.

Rogue Miracle (D Match Up)

I dont see us favoured  here sadly. We need to keep on constant pressure and minions on the board so the rogue needds to burn his spells. A well timed Loatheb is the key here. Also keep the Brawl for his Auctioneer play. I got some lucky Brawl kills when its concealed!

Shaman (E MatchUp)

I would consider this as our worst match up. We know the shaman possibilites to flood the board and your single Brawl does more then often not the job. The only way i see winning ths ones i some weapon draw luck to keep his board clear. I really cannot give you any secret tips here sadly.

I hope you enjoyed the read. Please feel free to discuss and leave a comment. Thank you!
