Now that we are a week into the new expansion, the meta seems to be more defined than before and most powerful decks are standing out so far. Ranging from even/odd Paladins to Shudder Shaman, the meta seems to be really diverse and open to discovery. If you're facing too many control decks and are looking for a successful deck with a high skill cap, this deck is for you.
Recently, Rage hit #1 legend using his quest rogue list. What's unique about this list is that it runs 2 copies of vicious scalehide in favour of the more traditional fire flies. Since the nerf hammer struck down Patches, most Quest Rogue lists stopped running Valeera the Hollow due to the fact that it was too slow against most of the aggressive archetypes, and control match-ups were a win way more often than not.
However, with the potential for more control decks in the newly formed meta, as well as the fact that most aggressive decks have slowed down because of the rotations, Valeera seems to be a very solid choice against control and, more often than not, aggressive decks. Through the use of cards like Glacial Shard & Wax Elemental, you can easily extend the game long enough so that you would get an opportunity to play your Valeera, which would ensure that you would never run out of juice for the remainder of the game.
Your primary goal is to complete the quest as fast as possible, while maintaining a reasonable health total that guarantees your survival. The best possible 'bounce' target to complete the quest with is Novice Engineer, since it gets you even closer to completing the quest with every draw. This deck is quite difficult to pilot, so don't be put down if you find it difficult to play, even many professionals think so.
Video:
As usual, video that spotlights the high-end potential of the deck. If you are confused on how to pilot the deck, make sure to check the video out, as he explains every single move he makes.

Just hit a game where I had a 5/9 taunt out.
They cast Sonya. Then they cast Stonetusk Boar 5 times to complete the quest super quick.
Next turn crystal core.
Next turn, Zola. Zola the Zola. Zola the Zola.
AKA infinite 5/5 Zolas.
Not fun. Please nerf Blizzard.
Jesus Christ...

I'm not even joking: Forget about Shudderwock, this deck feels broken.
Honest question: Why can Zola target itself?
2nd Zola wasnt created by itself, it was created by DK passive hero power.
This deck is pretty fucking insane.
I'm fine with Cubelock, Paladins, Spiteful, whatever.. and I actually defend all of them. I don't like nerfs. But THIS!? This is broken as fuck.
I play Taunt Druid. My opponent played 1 mana 5/5 Stonetusk Boar and destroyed my whole board of taunts in one turn. Summoned another board of taunts. He destroyed it just the same with the lifesteal rush minion (forgot the name). That's 1 mana for 5 damage 5 heal, repeatable 10 times in a row.
I would be fine with it if the quest was hard to complete. But it's not. People finish it before turn 5.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm playing since KFT, this is the first time ever I play against a deck and feels like it's just not right.
Thank you so much for the replay. I have watched it 4 times now and am still getting great pleasure out of it. A player using some of the strongest most OP cards made since the existence of Hearthstone AND running a greedy ass deck is complaining about a deck being too strong....... I would pay money to watch that replay and imagine your rage.
Complaining about infinite Zolas while playing a class capable of spewing 12+ 3/9 taunts which could lead to 36+ 1/3 taunts is really really good entertainment for me.
This post may seem salty... but I just couldnt resist the jab as I find it hilarious Control/Cube Warlocks dare complain about a class spewing x minions for x cheap.
You’re welcome?
Abuse cubelock and cry when there's a deck that farms you like the brain dead vegetables that you are. I always make sure to bm to the max as I stomp every cubelock I come across while playing this deck. your tears are delicious mmmm :)
I dont know how this doesnt run firefly its the best card for quest rogue. you need to put in firefly for this deck
naw. firefly serves no purpose in this deck. every other minion has a function; tank, delay damage, burst, or heal. having firefly will get your quest completed no quicker than without.
So... I'm missing both preparations and all legendaries for a total of 7300 dust on missing cards against my current 6400 dust. Besides the quest, what legs should be given priority?
Sonya is mandatory, Zola can be replaced by Ancient Brewmaster and the deck itself can do OK without Valeera. If you're planning to climb the ladder with this deck, you're gonna have a bad time. Struggles against aggro but outstands against control. Counters cubelocks directly, and control in general as well.
I managed to craft all but Zola, and I'm personally proud of crafting DK Valeera since my 2 games so far were won by that card alone.
"counters cubelock" is putting it lightly XD this deck farms cubelock players like the brain dead vegetables that cthey are
Been using this deck for four days with good results. Got a lot of salty message from opponents, but hey, it works!
Very fun deck and works extremely well. Not been running into zoo or aggro that much yet. Mostly slower decks and the occasional Shudder-shaman. It seems to be an extremely aggrivating deck to face. I don’t think I’ve ever played a deck that resulted in so many concedes and possible rage-quits. However, I haven’t really found much use for Sonya Shadowdancer. Don’t know what else you could use but I feel that if you want to change something, she’s the first to go. The deck works fine without her.
Guy, Sonya is really great. I know you'll find the best situation to play her.
Sonya is a guaranteed quest finish as long there is a minion with enough hp on board
Pair it with boars or southsea deckhands, you can clear enemy minions and finish off your quest easily.
Can this work without Zola?
I believe so. Zola and Sonya adds extra chances to activate the quest, but I often managed without them.
