Hey guys! Today I have a very special deck for you, Big Mage with which I managed to hit LEGEND RANK 1 and have very solid winrate in TOP25. Deck is quite hard to pilot properly, but I am starting to get very comfortable as I played over 100 games in top legend with it.
It is great for climbing winrate wise, but games take a long time and often go to fatigue, so I recommend it to get through that last rank you have problems with, and climbing with something faster from the lower ranks.
Take care of everything your opponent tries to do while getting card advantage with mass board clears and Cabalist's Tome. As your opponent starts to run out of breath, you take over the game with Frost Lich Jaina. If something bad happens on the way, you come back from dead with Ice Block and Arcane Artificer.
You can almost ALWAYS KEEP Arcanologist, Raven Familiar and Dragon's Fury. It is sometimes correct to mulligan some of these, but it is very rare, and even in those circumstances the difference between keep/mulligan is not that big.
On the other side of spectrum, ALWAYS MULLIGAN Ice Block, Baron Geddon, Flamestrike and Dragoncaller Alanna.
Doomsayer is amazing against aggro and horrendous against control, so keep this in mind when mulliganing.
Polymorph is amazing against one of your bad matchups, Warlock. Save them for their Voidlord which will make their a lot weaker.
Arcane Tyrant is a good keep if you already have a big spell you want to keep such as Cabalist's Tome or Dragon's Fury.
Frost Lich Jaina is sometimes too crucial in control matchups so you can keep her there, but mulligan her against everything else
Blizzard can be a keep against Paladin, I mulligan it everywhere else.
Ice Block makes sure you stay alive no matter what, and after your opponent manages to trigger it, you come back with double Arcane Artificer combined with something like Meteor or Flamestrike, which will solve the board and get you back to comfortable life total. Keep in mind that now your opponent has to deal somehow with these Arcane Artificer, which might be problematic for him.
Cabalist's Tome gives the deck some extra value, which is very important as games often go fatigue.
Dragon's Fury is an insanely strong boardclear for it’s price. This deck runs mostly expensive spells, with the cheapes one being Ice Block, but you will get rid of these from your deck thanks to Arcanologist. With card like this Hearthstone Deck Tracker comes really handy, as you always know how likely it is for you to clear the entire board or leave something with just 1hp so you can finish it with your greatest win condition, Frost Lich Jaina.
Speaking of which, Jaina is absolutely amazing and capable of taking over the game on her own. She can help you survive fatigue for a long time thanks to her healing ability, and generates a ton of value over the game. She is also amazing with Baron Geddon, who is an Elemental, which means he can gain you something like 16 life when played while doing his “board clear” duty.
Frost Lich Jaina is a total must for this deck, but other than that you can play with your legendary constellation a bit. Both Dragoncaller Alanna and Baron Geddon are very good but not mandatory in the deck.
Cards you can replace them with are Elise the Trailblazer, Medivh, the Guardian or even Firelands Portal.
You can also sneak in Tinkmaster Overspark if you are playing against a lot of Warlock and need that third Polymorph which is amazing against that deck.
Thanks a lot for reading guys, if you want to see it in action, make sure to check out this video as well!
Cheers

what do you replace for these cards?
Hey Stan just wanna say I think it's really cool how you interact with the community with these guides!! Much appreciated man. Would try this deck but don't have Alanna
Hey man, love to hear that! There are plenty of possible changes for Alanna even though she is very good, check the last part of the guide!
Congrats SC. Also I'm really having a hard time dealing with kingsbane rouges, any tips?
Cubelock is still annoying even if I poly their doomguards.
Having fun with this variant. I cut some pieces to add in Skulking Geist and ooze. Removed the tyrants(no dust)
I dont have Arcane Tyrants, can it do well without these?
yes .. I am seeing people run Saronite chaingang against aggro or acolyte of pain for additional draw... Sometimes two of them is a bit too much so you can cut either one of them and run weapon removal like ooze
Hey Stan thanks for the deck! Why did you choose to not include Medivh from the start? He seems like a staple in all the other big spell lists and I am curious why you think he is not good enough to make your list.
Medivh's not very good with 5-7 mana spells, because there's many understatted minions in that range. He fits better in Priest and Druid decks with 10 mana spells, for a chance to summon Deathwing or Tyrantus.
He's also very slow and in faster decks has been powercrept by Spiteful Summoner.
meh he is very good with 6 and 7 mana spells such as blizzard meteor firelands portal... i played a version with bright-eyed scouts, 2 pyros and and spitefuls :^) and usually i would get crap like c'thun out of 10 mana proc...
