Hey there,
I was watching Amaz streaming today, and noted he's doing good with this deck (not september legend yet, though).
I have been trying this deck myself today, and so far, got up from rank 14 to 10, with a good win streak.
Will keep trying, for a better sample.
If you have any toughts, please comment below.
EDIT:
As it's been confirmed, Amaz removed Harrison Jones and included Ysera and hitted Legendarie.
Edit 2:
Before changing the deck, Amaz did some minor modifications, like -1 silence +1 smite.
So did he run both Ragnaros and Ysera?
Any idea why no mind control?
Why shadow madness? What are you looking to steal exactly?
Usually you're just trying to trade one of their minions for another. For extra value, you can grab something with deathrattle (sludge belcher, loot hoarder, etc.). As for no mind control, Amaz just really likes Ragnaros, which all of the other top priest decks remove (because of BGH) for MC. It plays faster, and is very powerful, but it's easily countered and can be kind of random. So it depends on your preference.
Exactly. Also, Mind Control is viewed as one of the weaker cards in Priest since its mana change, because in control decks Sylvanas Windrunner + Shadow Word: Death serve a similar function but are never dead in your hand, while in aggro/tempo MC is simply too slow.
Moreover, Shadow Madness is seen as one of the better Priest class cards, since it can bring huge rewards - you can often see it played on a Loot Hoarder -> 4 mana draw a card + destroy enemy 2-mana minion + deal 2 damage. Using it on Sludge Belcher is a 4 mana destroy enemy 5-mana minion + deal 3 damage + summon Goldshire Footman. Of course, this has limitations - the Sludge Belcher one is hard to pull off since the Belcher needs to be killed. However the potential upside is enormous and it is never dead, due to all decks running some minions < 3 attack.
Great explanation! Since I don't own Ysera, I'm running this deck with some modifications. I had to find a place for Mind Control, since I was losing a lot when facing Control Hunters. In those matches, I save MC for Ysera, using Sylvanas in the middle game.
I also made some changes trying to be more prepared for Warlocks-Handlocks. Still can't beat Miracle Rogues, though.
Achieved rank 7, yesterday. =P
Thanks for posting this, it's a fun deck. I'm curious, as every other priest deck that I've seen runs Mind Control, how is Amaz dealing with mirror matchups? Does he avoid playing Ysera until it's been used?
Althought now he's playing a new deck, he said Ysera was his "winning condition". In mirror matches, he tryed to save her for the last, yeah.
As far as i know he replaced the Silence with another Holy Smite. Personally i like this amaz-deck, but with the nerf of Hunter I'm not sure how consistent this deck will be with more Handlocks on the stray.
Im not having bad results against handlocks. But I guess the deck can be optimized for a new meta, with a few changes.
Sylvanas is kind of unique, by its effects. But Faceless seems to be a great replacement. If not Faceless, another midrange strong minion would be my choice (Sunwalker, for example).
He reached Legend yesterday but replaced Harrison Jones with Ysera for the last few games and the deck did even better. Overall it's a great deck.
Yep, great deck!! I'm grinding very week with it (so far, rank 9).
Thanks for the update!
