Latest changes: -1 snapjaw +1 loatheb
As other ppl already said, the deck right now with undertaker and the pre-nerf buzzard is already suffering from card draw. The cult master cant do much things that buzzard could. If you eat a lightning storm turn 5 with totem, all your stuff is dead and you didnt get any card draw from it... And those kind of deck already have 2 loot hoarder and buzzard.
That why i think those undertaker hunter decks might lose a little power. In 60% of the games the hunter still win without using buzzard at all, but maybe the simple thought of knowing you dont have the buzzard might stop people from playing it.
I wonder if a late game hunter could see use one day, pressuring all game with hero power might be sick ;)
I think I might replace Ironbeak Owl with Flare for an extra card draw (and protection against secrets).
Thoughts?
I find the owl really useful against priest and paladin, though I agree that Flare is needed. Maybe take out one of the Kill Commands?
i would remove the snapjaw for a flare.
Yeah, that would work also
Flare is not really useful in the current meta: handlocks and shamans.
I removed snapjaw for a Loatheb, though
I think Undertaker is still worth it.
Considering that this draft has even more death rattles, now because Buzzard is gone (+2 Loot Hoarder
However, ofc the Buzzard and UTH will be missing. I will have to experiment with it too, to check if it's still worth playing it.
Maybe a more defensive variation will work better, we will see. I will keep this deck updated and post my experience.
That's exceedingly precise and tremendously insightful.
I expected more cult masters to pop up in hunter decks. Even though he's not a beast I think he can have a lot of value, and I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen him in more token shaman/druid decks in general. But yeah, anyone who thinks that hunter is dead because of SB nerf... nah
Obviously Cult Master is a necessity because there is no other card draw, now that Buzzard will cost 5 mana.
Otherwise buzzard was much more value. It's a shame they nerfed him so much. But I guess we can all agree that the current hunter was too OP.
how well does cult master work here? any strategies?
- it synergizes pretty well with UTH (Turn 7, instead of Turn 5)
- taunts (Also note Snapjaw and Houndmaster + any beast) also provide more protection for cult master to stay alive
- apart from the loot hoarders: cult master is the only card draw we have (you might also add another one)
- you can play many minions early, and on turn 4 you can play cult master and let them getting killed (haunted creeper, web spinner, etc.)
