1. Introduction

Hello guys! Today I would like to present you my version of budget Spiteful Priest. It has got some dragon synergy, as well as good control tools, which will certainly help you to win many games. The best thing about this deck is that it's very good versus Warlocks, which dominate the ladder atm. My deck relies on board control - it is achieved thanks to 26 minions, not spells. As you probably spotted, there are only 4 of these. Free From Amber and Mind Control are cards you want to synergize with Spiteful Summoner to make him an ultimate value card!

2. My stats

I'm not the greatest Hearthstone player and I have to admit it. I've never reached Legend and often misplay. The thing that's cool about this deck is that it's very fun to play and allows you to do wrong plays, there are many cards that can change the board situation dramatically. Below are my stats for past 73 matches, from the most recent matches to the oldest. (I've marked the result of Warlock matches, so it's clear)

That's my every game so far. Time for a summary.

Wins: 44 | Losses: 29 | Winrate: 60%

  • Out of 22 matches vs Warlocks, I won 17 of them (77% W/L)
  • Out of 18 matches vs Priests, I won 11 of them (61% W/L)
  • Out of 8 matches vs Mages, I won 4 of them (50% W/L)
  • Out of 6 matches vs Hunters, I won 4 of them (67% W/L)
  • Out of 5 matches vs Rogues, I won 2 of them (40% W/L)
  • Out of 3 matches vs Warriors, I won 3 of them (100% W/L) - Fun fact: all of them were Quest Warriors
  • Out of 4 matches vs Druids, I won 2 of them (50% W/L)
  • Out of 3 matches vs Shamans, I didn't win a single one :/ (I feel embarassed)
  • Out of 4 matches vs Paladins, I won 2 of them (50% W/L)

3. General mulligan

When you go first:

Always keep Northshire ClericFaerie DragonKabal TalonpriestShadow Ascendant and Tar Creeper. If you're playing vs an obviously aggro class, keep Duskbreaker - it's a great removal and can wipe out the whole board. Of course, don't play Faerie Dragon because of the dragon synergy.

When you go second:

It's the same general mulligan like when you go first. For the 4th slot, try getting Duskbreaker or Spiteful Summoner. The first card can be used in any dangerous situation, while the Summoner can be either coined on turn 5 for huge value or played on turn 6. Remember: to effectively play this card, you must have board control.

4. Mulligan for each class + gameplan

  • Warlockour biggest enemy, the meta dominating class atm. Make him actually PLAY his demons from hand! My deck includes several counters, which are useful in fighting CubeLock. Try getting Northshire ClericFaerie Dragon and Tar Creeper on your opening hand. Acidic Swamp Ooze is also a good drop in case our opponent plays Skull of the Man'ari early in the game. Use your Faerie Dragon wisely because it triggers Duskbreaker and Drakonid Operative. The matchup will be rather slow, most of my games ended when the opponent had less than 10 cards in his deck. Spellbreaker is a great card to silence Possessed Lackey or Carnivorous Cube. It can also be used to directly silence Voidlords. Use taunts to stop brave pushes from your opponent. Duskbreaker destroys Voidwalkers really well, keep that in mind. One of the best tools in this matchup is Mind Control, which can be used to steal your opponent's Carnivorous Cube or VoidlordDrakonid Operative is a great card to steal removals from Warlocks, eg. Twisting NetherHellfire or the spellstone.   ZooLock is not that different, except you wanna use your taunts to stop small creatures from the beginning and control the board using our dragons :)  Keep in mind that both Warlocks use Bloodreaver Gul'dan, so don't waste Duskbreakers if not necessary!
  •  Priest - our biggest threat. Razakus is simply better in this matchup and I can't hide it. Try to outvalue him ASAP using our Spiteful Summoner. Remember that he uses one Shadow Word: Death and Pain, though! Also watch out for Dragonfire Potion and Psychic Scream. Save one Mind Control for late Prophet Velen. Other Priests like Dragon, Big and Spiteful are 50/50 matches, certainly winnable.
  • Mage - rather an easy matchup, the only mage that is playable now is Exodia, Secret and Control/Elemental. Either ways, don't use the Acidic Swamp Ooze until the enemy plays Medivh, the Guardian or Aluneth. Control the board from the beginning, mulligan is the same as usual. Make him waste all him dmg spells on the minions, you want to keep your face alive. Exodia is gonna be the hardest fight here, you probably wanna destroy your opponent ASAP :)
  • Hunter - it's gonna be Midrange or Spell. The first one is an easy matchup, control the board with taunts and other cheap minions. Spell is gonna be tougher. Keep your Duskbreaker to kill the wolves spawned by hunter's spellstone. Control, control!!
  • Shaman/Rogue/Paladin/any aggro deck - not seeing many of these lately, but the winning cards for you will be Tar CreeperTortollan Shellraiser and the MVP: Duskbreaker! Don't play Spiteful Summoner or our big spells until you're 100% sure about your safety.
  • Druid - Believe me or not, Jade is still powerful and we are nor favored is this matchup. I have won (luck?) my only game vs this deck by spamming low-cost minions any synergizing them together. Watch out for Wrath and Swipe, the only removals that druid has got. Aggro is gonna be a little bit easier, use the dragon-removals wisely. Keep in mind that Living ManaMark of the Wild combo is a thing that can decide on the outcome of the match.
