Greetings!
UPDATE 1/24: Swapped 1 Tinker's Sharpsword Oil for a second Leeching Poison after feedback from comments below. I lost too many games only because my 1 Leeching Poison was at the bottom of my deck.
Mulligan:
This deck heavily relies on getting it's draw. Look for Coldlight Oracle and Elven Minstrel if you have the The Coin. Fan of Knives is a fine keep against aggro if you have one of the other cards I mentioned. Depending on the matchup I will keep Cavern Shinyfinder such as against aggro (especially if I have a Leeching Poison or Deadly Poison).
Control:
You are looking to get to Valeera the Hollow to super buff your Kingsbane. You really need to be careful about using your board clears too soon such as Blade Flurry, Vanish, and Sap. These are critical in getting past taunts to find lethal or to just survive. This deck really requires planning each turn multiple turns ahead, anticipating opponents moves and the cards in their deck. I find it similar to chess which is why I love this deck so much in both Standard and Wild.
Aggro:
You are unfavored against most aggro decks but it is not impossible to win (I've beat them all at some point). Leeching Poison and Kingsbane are key. If you can survive to the mid game and get your weapon going you have a good chance. This is the main reason I've included Brann Bronzebeard to synergize with Antique Healbot.
Brann Bronzebeard has not performed as well as I expected and is definitely a flex spot. While a key card in Mill Rogue decks of the past, he is not needed as much since we now have access Elven Minstrel to thin your deck.
Thank you to everyone who made suggestions or had questions below! Please share your experiences and ideas :)
The mulligan says keep fan of knives, but it isn't in the decklist :O
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Sorry I did not reply to you all sooner. For some reason Hearthpwn wasn't notifying me of new comments.
Brann Bronzebeard is useless here, I suggest to replace it with another Leeching Poison, you can't win a game if you don't find it
I agree Brann Bronzebeard hasn't performed the best. a second Leeching Poison is totally viable.
This was ranks 18-13 in December.
Hi thewarlockeHS,
This deck looks great and fun.
I consider Tinker's Sharpsword Oil a little greedy, if I want to maximize (even more) the control match ups... What would you put in instead of one of the oil?
Thanks, and sorry for el mio englando (:
I replaced it with 1 Backstab and 1 Eviscerate just for control things.
You are correct that Tinker's Sharpsword Oil is a bit greedy (especially 2!). I personally would keep at least one in but like Gluegun suggested, Backstab and Eviscerate are excellent swaps.
please make some guide o video ... i really wanna try this deck !!!!
missing some cards but i replace it
greetingsss
Greetings! I wish I could make videos but my laptop isn't powerful enough (there's quite a bit of lag). What cards are you missing?
Not having bran makes this deck hard to play. I can still get some pretty good combos off, but it’s hard!
I found Brann Bronzebeard was not particularly good except in a few milling scenarios and with Antique Healbot against aggro. Valeera the Hollow is the card that carries against control matchups IMO so I would swap Brann Bronzebeard for some anti aggro tools such as a second Leeching Poison like 5IIIEPJIOK suggested.
