if you can pair up this card with malygos, every missile will be 8 damage, total 24 damage., fucking insane.
Omg wow.. think about that Barnes out Malygos... coin Greater Arcane missiles OTK
Spell power makes every card broken
This more than most, though.
Spend turn 7 dealing 9 damage randomly is only greater than hero power >> pass
hahahaha what?
"oh imagine if you have thalnos or malygos..."
are you fuckin retarded? this card sucks. oh imagine if you had a REAL card instead.
the only thing good about this card is the spell damage combo. for example, +2 spell damage, empty board - 15 damage to face.
Too situational in my opinion.
I'd say this card is too heavy and inefficient for its effect to be fit into the current tempo mage archetype. It might see some play if the text was "Summon an extra 3 damage missile for each spell damage" instead.
Just want to clarify.
For arcane missiles a +1 spell power would mean an extra missile.
For this one would it mean another 3 damage missile for each spell power or would the 3 missiles deal 3 + spell power damage each?
Spell damage only modifies a spell's damage. Unless a card specifies an effect in relation to damage like Imp-losion it will only effect damage dealt.
Greater Arcane Missile will always fire 3 missiles each dealing 3 + (spell damage) damage.
Or it will create another missile, because 3 damage is 3 damage, wheter it comes from another missile or +1 damage to three missiles.
This is Blizzard, after all.
The difference of wording on Arcane Missiles vs this would make sense for this card to just get +X spell damage added to each missle
Might be decent after Doomsayer clears the board. If you run the faster variation of Freeze-mage, this might be a good board clear after Doomsayer kills everything. I think this would see play in Freeze-mage either in the near future or far future, depending on the meta and the spells in standard a year from now. This is also the first spell to receive extra damage from spell power.
IMO this card is pretty underrated based on comments so far. This is definitely playable - in fact I think it will see play in all major mage archetypes (freeze, reno, tempo). This card is insane with a single spellpower minion up, which in tempo mage there are 5 of. Freeze mage can play this because it a cheaper/more flexible pyroblast (which the deck almost plays) and synergizes well with emperor/kobold/thalnos and it's great for going face after a doomsayer goes off. For reno, we can only run a single instance of other AoE spells (flamestrike, blizzard, volcanic potion) so this is a 4th AoE spell that can also just push face damage and synergizes well with Solia/Medivh/Kazakus shenanigans which the new archetype will probably drift towards.
I'm also thinking that Blizzard might've finally printed enough burn cards to make the sleeper burn mage archetype a reality - ie. the old blue/red MtG concept of burn spells + stall - ie. a freeze mage that has 50+ points of burn in-deck and doesn't need Alex or emperor OTK to win.
This card should turn out pretty great!
People are saying, "why run this when flamestrike exists?" Well, the whole point of the Kabal is to have no duplicates in your deck, so you can run both. It has the flexibility of hitting face for 9, or possibly one minion for 6... Sometimes flamestrike is overkill. Flexibility and redundancy are important for improving decks.
Can't wait to hate this card for missing all of it's targets.
Hmm... play an epic that shoots 3 dmg at 3 random enemies, or play a common that guarantees 4 dmg to every minions? Decisions, decisions...
MalyGod missiles pew pew pew
A lot of people hating again when something slightly different comes out, even though we're the one who scream for variety. This car is huge in my opinion, if you think about how freeze mage used pyroblast even when it went from 8 to 10 mana for 10 damage, and ya you can say it's cause it's a solid finisher but what we got here is humongous too, its insane spellpower scaling make it able to end the game if you manage to stick a malygos for 1 turn, in freeze mages after a doomsayer turn you clear the board with your turn starting as first, and this cost wise as plain face damage is worth 9 for 7 especially with the aforementioned spellpower bonus. I can't wait to try out some Malygos, ancient mage, evolved kobold and emperor combos with this.
