Patches the pirates
Tbh, i think this card is too good, in fact it is just broken.
First of all, most people just see it as a 1 mana 1/1 charge that just basically just bashes your opponent's face for 1 damage. For me, that one damage is somewhat crucial. If you're going second, then that is particularly good if it is not in your hand. You can basically just ping off/ trade off one of the early game minions very easily and effectively. But here comes another problem of arises another pirate aggro deck. Warrior has a lot of class cards that has a lot of pirate synergy cards. The fact that there is small- time buccaneer, which basically enables them to deal 1 damage on turn 1 by patches (through playing buccaneer), then you equip weapon on turn 2 (fiery war axe for ideal cases), then you deal 3 + 1 + 3 = 7 damage on turn 2. Within the first 2 turns, you've already done 8 damages which is very hard for decks to do comebacks unless they have any sorts of answers to your weapon or your board. But how does the patches directly affected the games?
Consider you summoned it on turn 1, then it survived till turn 2, isn't it value already? 1 mana deal to damage to face? Basically a steady shot (hunter's hero power) with just one mana right? It doesn't sound a lot, but every single bit of damage values for aggro decks.
Why is aggro shaman fading out?
One of the main reasons is that they don't have any pirate synergy cards at all, and the fact about the overload mechanics is way too slow for an aggro deck in this meta. In fact, it can barely run as a midrange only. But still, 4 mana 7/7? It's no long useful. Have you to wait till tur4 for that? Warrior could have bashed your face for 8 damage on turn 2! Besides, the hero power inconsistencies on rolling a spell power totem is causing a big problem for shaman. (25% chance of rolling one). If they don't get it by turn 2 or turn 3, then they are basically dead.
Another reason about shaman is no long playable in this meta is that the totem golem could be easily countered through aggro decks nowadays, especially when patches the pirates is released. A fiery war axe and a patch can simply kill the golem and leave the buccaneer doing 3 more face damage. And they have to play turn 3 as a 2 mana turn, which probably is to roll a totem and it's obviously slow. That's why shaman is basically un-playable in this meta.
Overload is way too slow for aggro
Nice joke bro, the whole point of overload is to get overpowered units out as fast as possible and pay for it later
lol yea that 1 damage can help, i have lost many games with the opponent having only ONE life left i'm like how the F does this happen.
Just got him from pack(-_-),and this shit appears as a legendary?for me(Reno player)this is just 400 dust ,anyway thanks blizzard.....
i draw patches in my opening hand very often...he just loves popping in there. he also wins a majority of the brawls i've been in
I know it's some form of a joke, but to me... a weak one, not having anything to do with the reality: Boar is a beast, which makes it actually better for druids and let's say "even" for hunters. Besides, how can a legendary be a powercreep of a common? ;x
Well the worst thing is that the pirate deck will survive the next rotation, well they lose finley but is that a big loss and argent boohoo, shaman loses golem and trogg so it loses alot of that sweet early play. But i think blizzard will nerf some warrior cards like Autist polly and small-dick buccaneer maybe. 2 mana 1/1 who gives you weapon is not that bad for those cancer players or 2 mana 1/2 who gets +2 when there is a weapon. That should balance the brainlesness a bit.
I really do not think Patches is OP, actually i think the game needs more cards like this, before that badboy exist the pirates have always been despised and seen very little play. Best example is Southsea Captain.
Patches the Pirate and Finja, the Flying Star my favorite cards from MSoG.
About Southsea Captain: if you mean that he's weaker than Murloc Warleader, it is because of him buffing only your pirates, so no risk of buffing enemy involved. BTW that's why on arena, if you don't have either murlocs nor pirates and given a choice between them, you should always choose cap.
Every time I hear: "Who goes thar?/Fly, Polly!->EYEM IN CHARGE NOW!" on turn 1, I really have to resist the sudden urge to throw my PC out of the window.
I literally did not notice the EYEM pun until your comment. Thank you kindly.
ARRGGGH I AM THE CANCER NOW!
just when i thought they realized how toxic charge is, they pulled this card out of their hat. There was no way this would result in anything else than some sort of aggro bs but hey, why change anything now right?
Its even good for anti aggro
It summon it from your deck, so it as equal as draw and play him.
