But it's more than just healing. Think of ethereal conjurer; a 6/3 body for 6 is crap, but the ability to discover a spell based on your current situation is huge. Same thing with this card. The healing is just icing on the cake as far as I can tell. Other control tools in Paladins toolbox definitely makes this card playable imo.
Anyfin Can Happen is the most expensive spell that you can get, although it might be fairly useless in standard. As far as useful spells go, you can get a Lay on Hands and 16 health divided in 2 turns. However, Pally does have a lot of secrets, and even Forbidden Healing costs 0, and it isn't a class known because of its spells (why Ethereal Conjurer was so great in the first place).
Still, I wouldn't mind having one at all, as long as it wasn't my last hope for surviving the next turn. An extra 1-4 health, a 4/4 body, and a spell are very welcome if your time isn't short. Not to mention, its stats can become better with A Light in the Darkness (and an infinite combo, if you are really really lucky :3 )
The reason Ethereal works is it has high attack, making it a major threat that can trade up in some cases or at least force some sort of trade. Add in the mages have the best spells in the game and it is pretty obvious why it is played.
This card cannot reasonably be played on curve as it will just be toasted by a vanilla 4 drop (and some 3 drops). Add in the fact that the spells you get will often be 1-mana secrets and you have a 6-mana 4-4 heal for 1HP and get a bad secret like Eye for an Eye" a big part of the time.
People will obviously experiment with it in control Pali decks, but it seems too weak for constructed and just plan anti-tempo in arena. :) I just might find it place with so many cards yet to be revealed for the adventure though. :3 It would be amazing if there were a card "draw 1 card for every point you healed this turn" effect.
Why this card is not 5 mana 3/3? There's really no space in Control Paladin for 6drops because of Sylvannas and Cairne..
maybe the heal would help change that
Seems nice. Its a card that does good to a meta even if it will not turn out to be great, but im hopeful for it.
It's a cool concept which fits very well with the paladin architype, but unfortunately I feel the 4/4 stats will not provide enough playability. Additionally, there is about a 41% chance that the cards you discover are around 3 or less (since a majority of the spells are 1-3 mana). So you could be basically paying 6 mana to play a 4/4, heal your Hero by 3 or less, and discover a 3 or less cost card. Now of course you could get the other huge cards (preferably Lay on Hands), but I don't know if it is worth the loss of tempo.
All three. there are 17 lvl 1-3 mana cost spells, and 11 3+lvl spells in Paladin. Now I messed up the calculation a tad bit, with the percentage being more around 36%, but I still believe the heal plus discover doesn't justify the undervalue of the card.
11 spells of 28 are 1-cost so is not that good for healing, but i would be awesome with Brann Bronzebeard
Honestly think the card is rather weak. Paladin has a lot of cheap spells and secrets, there will be one game, where you're really low, play this card and get to choose between Redemption, Sacred Trial and Repentance.
The statline makes sense, you potentially get a lot of value out of this card, a 4/5 body would also be totally fine since it's a class card.
Paladin spells aren't as strong as mage spells, so it's not quite an Ethereal Conjurer, but the effect is really strong.
in a way it's kinda like a healbot that gets you a card, but has a less reliable heal, and has a little bit of a stronger body.
