It's a shame we barely have any cards that can copy cards from your hand/deck. This has to be on the battlefield to be copied by the likes of Duplicate or Echo of Medivh. Otherwise, this could make casino mage decks insane fun. Think about it, once you have 3-4 of them in your hand, you're highly likely to find SOMETHING good in the next turn or two. Even if you put this on your board T1, the chance it lives to be duplicated/Echo'ed T3 or T4 are not that great! Being a 1/1.
Right now, the only thing that can truely copy this is Thistle Tea. And that is hugely unreliable. I guess that's half the point of the card, though. If you could copy it a bunch of times, the card loses a lot of its rng value.
Casino decks getting more love ;)
What happens if you play the random minion but then it gets sent back to the hand? Eg. Brewmasters, shadowstep etc. Does its effect basically expire?
Can't wait for a trolden video when it becomes a tirion on turn 8 or KK on turn 9
Should be : Each turn this minion's cost increases by 1 when it is played it becomes a random minion of that cost while it was in your hand or they should make something like that.
R.I.P. turns 11, 13-19 and 20+
so it become a worse forbidden shaping?
No because you'd know whether it was good or bad before you'd commit to playing it.
I kinda like it. It's fair RNG in that you can get a card you like, but if you can't play it oh well. I might throw one in my mage deck as a UP replacement. I'd say this card has the potential to be very good.
People are underestimating this card a lot. You don't have to play any of the rubbish that comes out of it, you wait until a card you want to play. Any deck that plans to keep a few cards in hand all game can afford for a card to sit there a few turns. At some point in the game it will turn into a better option than the other cards in your hand. Forbidden shaping is nothing like this card in that shaping gives you what it wants. I have high hopes for this card as one that sits quietly in many decks as an unsung hero.
Its not a turn ten play. I'm not suggesting you wait till this turns into a high cost legendary. It's flexible in that it fills the need of the match you are in. An average 3 drop on turn 4 is far better than playing nothing in an aggro match up for example whereas in the late game an average 5+ drop is better than a two drop. I'm a lot happier drawing this in the early game than a big minion and a lot happier in the late game than drawing a small minion.
This card isvan example of good RNG. It's not game changing (boom botz), it's not going to kill you (bomber), it's not impossible to play around, but not a promise of glory or death.
This card is the definition of pure RNG, thus making it impossible to play around.
It's not impossible to play around you play around what it becomes not it self. Meaning each turn you decide to play around what it changes to. For instance if it's a card worth playing you'll use it, if it's not you'll ignore it. If it's worth playing it may change how you would play your turn (getting a battlecry minion may be better than playing a spell of the same cost from time to time. Getting an acolyte of pain could be useful for more draw .. Basically you add him in hopes of getting value out of him, rather it's a battlecry, a decent body, or a tech card. He's not to replace anything, but to be used in addition to. Like if you use cthun and get ANY of cthun or mistcaller you got value. If you play yogg and get any spell damage or discover you got value. Your playing around what he becomes the dream isnt to get the best possible minion, but to get something useful. Any cards you get that trade 2 for 1 are value. You will always play him as something useful. I intend to make a gimmick joke rank 25 for fun deck that plays him with shadowstep and gang up with the dream of having a hand of ever changing cards with no desire to win just to joke and fuck around. Why? Because hearthstone is a game and fucking around is more fun than legend. Been there done that legend is boring.
But it's impossible for your opponent to play around. You could be playing Rogue (as you mentioned) and then, out pops a Savannah Highmane.
I don't know about you, but I don't plan around Highmane when playing against a Rogue.
Does random mean 'of any class'?
It's good in the sense that it reminds me of Unstable Portal, the - being that there's no mana reduction.
Also if there's a super duper big threat turn 1, you can contest with a 1 mana 1/1 drop, but hopefully it won't come to that. I'd put it in a Midrange or Zoolock deck.
I'm looking forward to getting this from Dark Peddler.
It is a card game, so there is always RNG. You don't get to choose when you draw a card right?
So the better question is: is the RNG healthy? And i would say whenever you still have to play the card at full cost it is not a problem. If you can win or lose off the back of playing a random minion, then that minion is the problem, not Shifter Zerus.
