Al'Akir the Windlord was the Elemental Lord of air. He ruled over his domain of Skywall from his seat at the Throne of the Four Winds. He was once the foremost tactician in the Old Gods' horrific armies. Aligned with the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing and his fellow Elemental Lord Ragnaros the Firelord in their efforts to usher in the end of days, Al'Akir was defeated by the mortal champions of Azeroth, who were able to enter Skywall from the breach in Uldum and destroy the Windlord within his own sanctum.

op
Just the best card.
cant have a shaman deck without it
Respect!
Is retardely good with combos (Rockbiter/Flametongue), capable of easily finishing (Like Leeroy), or removing 2 big minions. Is terrible alone, as he only does 3x2 damage, and can only hit twice before dieing (Booty Bay Bodyguard, one of the most terrible of the 5s, will trade against him if you play Al'Akir alone)
For finishing, he requires less cards to combo then Leeroy (Leeroy needs 3 cards. Al'Akir only needs Rockbiter/Flametongue).
Max Damage Al'Akir can do is 26 damage in one turn (2 flametongues already out, next to each other. 2 rockbiters in hand. Al'Akir)
Comparing it to Leeroy, who, with the same combo, will only do 16 damage. (Leeroy has a higher max though. 2 flametongue out. 2 rockbiter. 1 windfury. 1 Abusive Sergeant. 36 damage.)
Unlike Leeroy, Al'Akir can take down a taunt and still slam the face
Overall. Decent card, but you have to have the right combo and right conditions to use it in. His value drastically drops with ANY taunts, and you HAVE to have at least one damage buff card in hand, and you can't play him until turn 9, or 10.
One of the best legendaries! Only weak vs Silence
Very good card. Weak vs Silence, just as Tirion, but nonetheless, still a strong pick in many shaman decks.
Incoming silence alert!
This card makes me hate Shaman.
3/5 taunt isn't too hard to remove at that point of the game though.
Still seems like pretty useless at 8 mana. From personal experience it's either a target for silence or a cool finisher.
Divine Shield can be useful to take a minion (taunt) out of the way and smack the face with the second strike, but Taunt is absolutely useless, and the 3 attack is kind of short. :\
I just got this big boy.
Nice Card!
In the past Alakir was considered one of the worst legendaries in the game. Now it is thought of as one of the best class legendaries. Do you think it is just people's opinions that have changed or is Alakir just better in the new meta?
I actually think it is both, firstly people has not realized until recently that it is perhaps the single most versatile card among 7+ drops despite the under whelming size. It is awful as a powerful minion, but as a pseudo-removal and a more versatile Leeroy. And its stats are not even that bad if one actually consider it as a 6/5 charge, and since it has charge, silences turn out to be a significantly lesser issue as good player can easily get most of his values out the turn it is dropped.
On the other hand, while I don't understand the old shaman meta very well, I believe that people did not use rockbite weapon and flametongue totem as much as they do now, which is what makes windlord significantly more powerful. For, tbh, he is not exactly very good on its own, but that more or less applies to most high-drop minions and requiring one of the four cards out of the 29 is hardly a tall order.
It's one of the good class legendaries.
That card does everything, from a finisher, to board control. buff is attack with flametongue, rockbitter or anything really and now it is a god
I made this card 2 weeks ago, Al'akir is great I am very satisfied with my choice
This card is just what I need to complete my Shaman deck!!
